Quick start guide PE1250
GETTING STARTED
Control panel is located in the right rear area of the unit behind a hinged hood panel.

Turn on the baery switch located near the boom arm. Insert key on control panel and turn
unit on, it will take a few moments for the machine to boot up.
STEP 1 ‐Turn the machine on
The purpose of this guide is to quickly get the machine ready for pulling operaon. It IS NOT
designed to replace the Operator’s manual. Please take me to review operator’s manual
informaon before preforming any operaons with this unit.

STEP 1 ‐Connued
STEP 2 ‐Choose the funcon
Once the loading process is finished a check mark will appear in the lower right corner of
the screen press the lower right buon to connue.
The next screen shown will only appear if scheduled maintenance is due.
NOTE: If this screen appears, one of the
maintenance mers has been tripped and the
unit is due for scheduled maintenance. This does
not mean the unit needs to be removed from
service, but it does need to be addressed by your
maintenance department at your earliest
convenience. The screen can be cleared by
pressing the lower right buon as before.
Choose the funcon you need to preform by pressing the corresponding keys
1 Operang mode
Note: See step 5
2 Free Wheel mode
Note: When in free wheel
mode it will require a min of
675 lbs to free wheel rope
3 Charging mode
Note: When charging the
unit it must be lethis mode
with the key on

Place unit the appropriate distance from the manhole and/or vault for the boom to be
extended if used. When pulling directly from the unit without the boom, the rope must not
exceed the angles on the warning label.
Once you have the machine posioned, the rear stabilizers need to be deployed and the
anchor points need to be secured. Anchoring the unit using the towing hitch is not sufficient
and can cause damage and/or injury.



STEP 4 ‐The remote and linking the remote
Now you are ready to acvate the radio
control transmier, the indicator circled
in the image to the right indicates the
radio is currently not connected. To
connect follow the procedure below:
Turn on remote by rotang the
switch shown to the right clockwise.
Make sure the joysck is in the
center posion and the E‐Stop is
released.

Aer a few seconds the display on the
remote will look similar to the picture to the
right. Verify you have a charged baery
(lower lebaery indicator) the green light
in the lower lecorner will be blinking
rapidly at this point.
On the boom of the remote press and hold the green buon to link the remote to the
machine. Once the remote is linked the green indicator on the remote will blink less
frequently and the yellow radio indicator on the control panel screen will change from
yellow to green.
Now that remote is connected
to the machine you can put the
machine operang mode by
pressing the buon next to
number 1 on the HMI control
panel . Now you can control
the machine and the pull
sengs from the remote.

STEP 5 ‐Pay out the rope and connecng to the conductor

PAYING OUT THE ROPE
With machine in posion and properly anchored you can ease the joysck forward on the
remote to payout the rope from the reel towards the conductors to be pulled. There must
be pressure against the rope when paying out to avoid slippage on the bull wheels.
Remember if you choose to use free wheel mode you will need to apply 675 pounds of
pressure to payout the rope.
CONNECTING THE CONDUCTOR
Once the rope is paid out to the conductor you will need a properly sized swivel to link the
pulling eye and the conductor. Connect to the conductor using the conductors
manufacturers instrucons *** WARNING ‐DO NOT PULL WITHOUT USING A SWIVEL***
STEP 5 ‐Seng the maximum pull force
Seng maximum pull force will limit the maximum allowable force the machine will apply to
the pulling rope. It is displayed on the remote with an indicator like the one in RED shown
below. When set the unit will not pull with anymore force then programmed. If the

STEP 6 ‐Recovery/Pulling of the rope
With the machine anchored properly, conductor connected to the rope with a swivel and max
pull force set you can begin the pull. It is important not to make abrupt control inputs or
direcon changes. Slippage of the rope on the bull wheels may occur, ease into the pull and
gently increase speed.
