Installation
Location:
Gas detectors should be installed where a potential gas hazard is
most likely to be present. Consider the behaviour of the specific gas
as well as factors such as the influence of temperature and natural
or forced air currents.
Safety
• If the detector is used in a potentially gas hazardous
environment, the relevant regulations for explosion classified
equipment must be observed at all times.
• Never change a sensor in a potentially hazardous atmosphere
while the transmitter is still powered.

NOTE! The detector should always be mounted
vertically.

Location requirements for a correct function of the detector:
• Area free from shocks or vibrations
• Protection against rain or flooding
• Ease of access for maintenance and calibration purposes
Limitations for catalytic sensors (ST650EX):
• Minimum 10% oxygen in the surrounding atmosphere
• Not suitable for non-stop gas exposure
• Not suitable in areas where compounds containing silicon,
halogens, lead, organometals, sulphur, or organophosphates are
present
Mounting:
Arrange the detector in a vertical position, with the sensor pointing
downwards, to avoid accumulation of moisture, dirt, dust, silicone,
and/or chemical residue.
NOTE! Do not install the detectors on open weather
deck.
NOTE! To increase the oxygen sensor lifetime, avoid
exposing it to air until commissioning.
