starting and ensure you are familiar with the operation of
your new Altitude 500.

UNPACKING
Unpack the fan components from the carton.
WARNING: Plastic bags can be dangerous. To avoid danger of
suffocation keep bags away from babies and children.
The carton should contain -
1 x Altitude 500 Fan.
1 x Stand (in two halves).
1 x Remote control with batteries.
1 x Remote control holder with fixing screws.
1 x Instruction manual.
Remove the fan and other components from any plastic
packing.

REMOTE CONTROL
Before first use pull out the insulation card in the battery compartment.
Replacing remote control batteries
• The battery compartment is located on the back of the remote control. Switch off the fan and slide the lid
off the battery compartment.
Fit CR2025(3V) x1 battery (included), observing polarity as shown in the diagram.
Re-insert the battery compartment lid.
ASSEMBLY
Stand
CAUTION: The stand must be fitted to the fan before use.
The stand is supplied in two identical sections. The two sections
clip together to complete the stand. The stand includes cable
guides and alignment holes to lock the stand to the base of the
fan.

Assemble the stand
Lay down a soft towel or cushion for
protection and stand the fan on its top
surface so that the base is visible.
A second person is helpful to hold the
fan steady while the base is being
fitted.
Unscrew the securing ring
(shaded) from the base of the fan.
•Slide the ring to the end of the
power cable.
Passing the power cable between
the two stand halves, join the two
halves of the stand together. The
two clips should lock in place.

Fix the stand to the fan
Fit the stand to the base of the fan, then
slide the securing ring back into place at
the base of the fan.
NOTE: The two holes in the stand
(arrowed) must line up with the pegs on
the fan base.
• Tighten the securing ring.
Feed the power cord through the guides
so it is held close to the underside and
exits through the slot in the side of the
stand as shown.
Check that the power cord is contained
within the stand and will not be pinched
when the fan is standing on the floor.
• Invert the fan and stand it on its base.

Remote control holder
Hold the remote control holder into position
on the back of the fan as shown and secure it
with the two screws packed with it (arrowed).
WARNING: Only use the screws supplied with
the remote control holder. Use of other
screws could damage the product.
Keep the remote control out of reach of
young children.
The remote control may be stored in the
holder when required.
PLACEMENT
Place the fan on a flat, stable surface close to a power outlet and out of the reach of children and pets.
Check that the power cord is not hanging where it can be pulled accidentally or cause a trip hazard.
The fan must stand on its base. It is not suitable for wall or ceiling mounting.
Moving the fan
Disconnect the fan from mains power. Lift the fan by the carrying handle and move it to a new position.
OPERATION
The fan can be operated from the touch pads on top of the unit or by pressing the buttons on the remote
control that duplicate all the control functions.

The control panel status indicators indicate the current operating modes of the fan –

Timer period indicators. Add the times displayed for example, if 4H, 1H,
0.5H are lit the time is 5.5 hours.
H, M, L
High, medium and low speed indicators.

Connecting power
•Connect the mains plug to the outlet.
The fan will switch on set to Standby.
Switching on and off
•Touch ‘POWER’ to switch the fan on.
The ‘L’ (Low speed) and ‘NL’ (Normal mode) indicators will light up.
•Touch ‘POWER’ again to set the fan to Standby.
All indicators will switch off.
Setting the fan speed
•Touch ‘SPEED’ repeatedly.
The speed will change low - mid - high, then return to low. The ‘L’, ‘M’, ‘H’ speed indicators will confirm
the speed selected.
OPERATION
Timer
Your fan includes a timer to set it to operate for a preset time.
•Touch ‘TIMER’ repeatedly to set the timer for an operation period from 0.5 hour to 7.5 hour in 0.5 hour
increments.
•The time set will be shown on the front panel display.
The fan will switch off after the preset time.
Special modes
There are two special modes of operation -

Natural mode and Sleep mode.
When Natural mode is set the fan speed will vary to simulate a natural breeze. When Sleep mode is set the
speed of Natural mode will reduce for night use.
•Touch ‘MODE’ repeatedly to step to Natural mode, then Sleep mode, then to return to normal
operation.

Oscillation
The fan body can be set to oscillate to increase the coverage area of the fan.
•Touch ‘OSC’.
The fan body will start to oscillate and the ‘SW’ (Swing) indicator will light.
•Touch ‘OSC’ again to stop oscillation.

PLUG WIRING (UK & IRELAND)
The Altitude is fitted with a 13A Moulded plug. If this plug breaks, then seek a qualified electrician to
replace this with a rewire-able BS1363 13 Amp plug.

CARE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Switch off the fan and unplug it from the mains supply.
Clean the front louvres and back grille with the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
Never immerse the fan or any part of it in water.
Never clean the fan with scourers, abrasive pads or chemicals.
BATTERIES

Recommended battery usage
•Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
•Only batteries of the same or equivalent types as recommended are to be used.
•The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
•Keep batteries away from children and pets.
•Do not mix used and new batteries.
•Install batteries in accordance with its polarity symbols.
•Remove the batteries if left for long periods.
•Never dispose of batteries in a fire.
•Keep batteries away from children and pets.
•Battery disposal, spent or expired batteries must be properly disposed of and recycled in compliance
with local regulations. For detailed information, contact your local authority.
•Follow the battery manufacturer’s safety, usage, and disposal instructions.
DISPOSAL
•Dispose of all packaging, paper, cartons and plastic, plastic bags in
accordance with your local recycling regulations.
•At the end of the product’s lifespan please dispose of it at an authorised
household WEEE waste recycling centre.
