SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Always:disconnectpowertothe dispenserbeforeservicing orcleaning.
Never:place handsinside ofhopperorgate area withoutdisconnecting powertothe dispenser.Agitator
rotation occursautomaticallywhen dispenserisenergized!
Thisice dispenserhasbeen specificallydesigned to provide protection againstpersonal injuryand eliminates
contamination ofice.Toinsurecontinued protection and sanitation,observethe following.
Always:be surethe removablelidisproperlyinstalled to preventunauthorized access tothe hopperinterior
and possiblecontamination of the ice.
Always:be surethe upperand lowerfrontpanelsaresecurelyfastened.
Always:keep area around the dispenserclean oficecubes.
CAUTION:Dispensercannotbeusedwithcrushed orflakedice.Use ofbaggedice which
has frozenintolarge chunks canvoidwarranty.Thedispenseragitation isnotdesignedto
be anice crusher.Use oflarge chunks ofice which“jamup”insidethehopperwill cause
failureof the agitatormotorand damagetothehopper. Ifbaggedice isused, itmustbe carefully
and completelybrokenintosmall, cube-sized pieces beforefilling intothedispenserhopper.
UNITDESCRIPTION
The Remcor“DB”seriesofice dispensers solveyourice and beverage service needsinthe sanitary,space
saving,economicalway.Designed tobemanuallyfilled withicefromanyremoteicemaking source, these dis-
penserswill dispensecubes(up to 1-1/4”insize),cubeletsand hard-chipped orcracked ice,and in addition,
severalflavorsofpost-mixbeverages.
The unitincludesbeverage faucetsand a cold plate and isdesigned tobesupplied direct fromsyrup tanks and
carbonator,with no addition cooling required.

RemcormodelIce/Beverage Dispensersare designed to be used with one ofseveraldifferent typesof top-
mounted icemakers.The icemakermustbe obtained fromthe appropriatemanufacturer.
Check withaRemcorSalesCoordinatorforalistoficemakerkitsavailableforthisdispensermodel.The kitwill
contain partsand instructionsnecessarytomount the selected icemakertothe dispenser.

INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT:TOTHEINSTALLER.
Itistheresponsibilityof theinstallertoensurethat thewatersupplytothedispensing equipmentis
providedwith protection againstbackflowby anairgapas definedinANSI/ASMEA112.1.2-1979;oran
approvedvacuumbreakerorothersuchmethod as provedeffective bytest.
Waterpipe connections and fixtures directly connectedtoapotablewatersupply shall be sized,
installed,and maintainedaccording to Federal, State,and Local laws.
1.Locatethe dispenserindoorsonalevelcountertop.
The ice dispensermustbe sealed tothe counter.The template drawing (Figure 4)indicatesopenings
whichmustbe cutinthe counter.Locatethe desired position forthe dispenser, then markthe outline di-
mensionson the counterusing the template drawings.Cutopeningsinthe counter.
Applyacontinuousbead ofNationalSanitation Foundation (NSF)listed silastic sealant(Dow732 orequal)
approximately1/4”inside of the unitoutline dimensionsand around all openings.Then position the uniton
the counterwithinthe outline dimensions.All excess sealantmustbe wiped awayimmediately.
2.UTILITIES:The unithasprovisionsfor routing the beverage tubing,air/CO2line,drainline,and power
cord eitherout the bottomorout the rearof the cabinet(see Figure 3).For routing the utilitiesout the bot-
tomof the unit, refertothe mounting template(Figure 4)forlocating the required clearance holesinthe
counter.
3.DRAIN CONNECTION:Usethe insulated tubing and clamp provided withthe unit to assembletothe drip-
traydrain.Toinsure properdrainage,do notallowa“trap”toforminthe drainline.Check that the drainline
runsflatwiththe bottomof the dispenser.See (Figure 2)forbottomhook-up of the unitdrainline.
NOTE:This equipmentmustbeinstalledwithadequatebackflowprotection tocomplywith Federal,
State,and LocalCodes.

5.ICE PORTION CONTROLLER:Regulated and filtered CO2gaspressure orcompressed airisrequired to
operatethe ice portion controldispensing system.Proceed asfollowstoconnect the CO2gaspressure
sourceline tothe dispenser.
A.Connectand routethe Air/CO2line fromoutletside of the sourceregulatorassemblyup tothe dis-
penser.NOTE:That the minimumsource-- regulated pressureis40 psig.
B.Connect the Air/CO2sourceline to dispenserinletline labeled “AIR/CO2”.
C.The dispenser regulatoroutletpressureisfactorypreset to 34 psig±2 psig.DONOTADJUST.
IMPORTANT:MaximumAir/CO2operating pressureis35psig.
6.Clean the hopperinterior (see cleaning Instructions).

Fill the hopperwithice and replacethe lid.Allow10 to15minutesforthe cold platetocooldown.Repeat this
procedurewheneverthe dispenserhasbeen standing overnightorotherlong periodswithoutice use.Startup
the beverage systemand adjust faucetstothe properbrix.Contactyourlocalsyrup distributorforcomplete
information on the beverage system.
To dispenseice,holdcup undericechute and press the appropriatesize button on the ice portion control lo-
cated abovethe icechute.An extraice portion maybe obtained bypressing the increasekey(Y)before press-
ing the button.
Forbeverage dispensing,placeacup on the cup restagainst the faucetleverof the desired flavor.Beverage
will be dispensed automaticallyfilling the cup and shutting off. Adelayfeatureisprovided inthe faucetcontroller
to“top-off”the drinkaftershutoff.
CAUTION:Use caution toavoidspilling ice whenfilling dispenser.Cleanupimmediately
any spilledice fromfilling oroperating theunit.To preventcontamination ofice,thelid
mustbeinstalledat theunitatall times.

The ice portioning systemconsistsof three maincomponents:
1. IcePortion Control
2. IceGateMechanism
3.SolenoidOperated AirValve
When a size button on the ice portion control ispressed, the controlsuppliesavoltage tothe airvalvefora brief
period of time.The aircylinderattached tothe ice gatewill then open the ice gateforashort time allowing iceto
be dispensed fromthe icechute.
The ice portion controlhasfivemodesto allowadjustmentof the ice portionsand fornormaloperation.They
are asfollows:(RefertoFigure 7)

NORMALOPERATION
To dispenseice,holdacup directlyunderthe icechute, then press the appropriatesize button on the ice por-
tion control.To obtainafull cup ofice,press the increase button followed bythe appropriatesize button.The ice
portion controlwill notdispenseice and will displayaflashing green indicatorlightifsufficienticeisnotavail-
ableinthe icechuteto dispensethe selected size.The indicatorlightwill returntosolid green and ice dispens-
ing will resume afterthe icechute hasbeen filled.
The amountofice dispensed foreachsizeis changed inthe Normaland ExtraIceAdjustmentModes.To ac-
cess the adjustmentmodes,press the decrease and increase button at the sametime.The controlwill advance
tothe nextmode inthe sequence as showninthe table on page 6 and the indicatorlightwill change toidentify
whichmode is currentlyactive.
CLEAN MODE
Access thismode when cleaning the icechute.RefertoCleaning Instructionson pages7thru 9.
NORMALICE PORTION ADJUSTMENT
Fromthe NormalOperation Mode (green indicator),press boththe decrease and increase buttonsat the same
timetwice.The amberindicatorverifiesthat the normalportion adjustmentmode hasben accessed.
Tochange the amountofice dispensed,press and hold downthe size button forthe desired sizeto be
changed.While holding the size button,press the decrease orincrease button to decrease/increasethe ice por-
tion size.When the minimumice portion adjustmenthasbeen reached, the indicatorwill flash ataslowrate;at
the maximumadjustment, the indicatorwill flash atafastrate.After releasing the size button, the indicatorlight
will flash green forfiveseconds.During thistime periodasamplecan be obtained tocheck the portion size by
pressing the sizekey.The indicatorlightwill returnto amber (normalportion adjustmentmode)afterthe sample
isdispensed.
The indicatorlightwill flashred afterdispensingasample,ifan open circuitexistsinthe ice gatecylinderswitch
wiring tothe ice portion controlorifan ice gate binding condition occurred during the sample.The indicatorlight
will display solidred brieflyafterasampleisdispensed if the ice gatecylinderswitchwas shorted.
Toreturnto normaloperation press the decrease and increase buttonsat the sametime,press twice.
AGITATION REFILL TIMEADJUSTMENT
To adjust the amountoficechuterefill agitation.begin byaccessing the ExtraIcePortion AdjustmentMode
(red Indicator).Next, press and holdforthe decrease and increase buttonsforthree secondsuntil the indicator
flashesamber.The indicatorwill flashuptofourtimes,one flashcorrespondstothe minimumamountofrefill
agitation and fourflashes correspondstothe maximumamountofrefill agitation.Change the amountofrefill
agitation bypressing one of the foursize buttons-- the small button representing the minimumamountofrefill
agitation. Increasethe amountofrefill agitation if the icechute doesnotrefill properlyafterdispensing ice.
ToreturntoNormalOperation Mode,press the decrease and increase buttonsat the sametime.
MANUALICEDISPENSING OPERATION
Apushbutton switchisprovided on the upperfrontpanel(see Figure 1)tomanualydispenseice.This system
can be used inthe eventofamalfunction withthe ice portion controlorfordispensing icein portionsotherthan
cup-size.Depress and holdthe pushbutton until the desired amountoficeisdispensed.
If a problemwiththe Air/CO2ice gatesystemshould occur,amanualairvalveislocated on the rightside of the
upperfrontpanel.The function of this valveistoremoveAir/CO2pressureonthe ice gateshould a gate
malfunction occur.Movethe valvetoggleswitchtothe “manual”position (tothe right)and pushthe gate back to
itsopen position. Icecan nowbe dispensed bydepressing the manual ice dispense.switch.When the problem
withthe Air/CO2systemhasbeen corrected,movethe toggleswitchleft tothe “auto”position torestorethe unit
tothe ice portioning mode ofoperation.
CAUTION:Thegate closes immediatelywhenthetoggle switchismovedtothe auto
position.Do notplace fingersorforeign objectsintotheice chutewhen operating the
toggle switch.

EXTRA ICE PORTION ADJUSTMENT
The adjustmentofExtraIcePortion isaccomplished inthe samemannerasice portions,except the indicator
lightdisplays red.To access thismode press boththe decrease and increase buttons simultaneouslythree
timesforthe NormalOperation Mode (green indicator).The indicatorwill displayred.
CLEANINGINSTRUCTIONS
DISCONNECTPOWERBEFORECLEANING:Do notusemetalscrapers,sharp objectsorabrasiveson the
icestorage hopperand top coverasdamage mayresult. Do notusesolventsorothercleaning agents,asthey
mayattack the plasticmaterial.
Dispenser
1.Clean the icestorage hopperatlease onceamonth.
2.Remove,(unscrew)agitator retainerand lift off the agitator.Wash and rinsethemthoroughly.
3.Wash downthe inside of the hopperand top coverwithamild detergentsolution and rinsethoroughlyto
remove all tracesofdetergent.
4.Replacethe agitatorand agitator retainer.
5.Sanitizethe inside of the hopperand agitatorwithasolution of1/2 ounce ofhousehold bleachin 1 gallon of
water.(200PPM)
6.Clean and sanitizethe icechute asdescribed below:
A.Enterthe Clean Mode of the ice portion controlbypressing the decrease and increase button at the
sametime.The indicatorlightwill alternatelydisplayred/amber.
B.To emptythe icefromthe icechute,press anyof the size buttons.The ice gatewill then open to allow
the icechuteto empty.The ice gatewill automatically close afterthe icechute hasbeen emptied.
C.Removethe4thumbscrewsattaching the upperservice paneland removethe panel.
D.Removethe2thumbscrewsattaching the icechutestrap and removethe strap.
E.Removethe4thumbscrewsthatsecurethe icetube tothe ice hopper.Removethe icechute and gate
cover.Powertothe ice portion controland beverage valveswill be interrupted whilethe icechuteis
removed.
F.Washicechute,gateslide and gatecoverin detergentsoap solution.Then rinsethoroughlywith plain
water.Sanitize asdescribed instep 5.
G.Replacecomponentsremoved forcleaning inreverse orderofremoval.
H.Portion controlwill automaticallyreturntoNormaloperating mode (green indicator) afterthe icechute
isreplaced.
COLDPLATE
1.Carefullyremovescrewsholding beverage faucetpaneland bring forward.
2.Slide the cold platecoverback.(Removeshipping tape and discard).
3.Remove anydebrisfromthe draintrough and spring.Check thatdrain holesare notclogged.
4.Wash downthe inside of the cold plate, tray,and coverwithamild detergentsolution and rinse.Asmall,
long-handled brushwill be found helpful inreaching the corners.
5.Slide the coverforward, taking carethatitis securelypositioned on the cold plate.

6.Replace beverage faucetpanel.
BEVERAGE SYSTEMCLEANINGAND SANITIZING
1.Preparethe following cleaning,rinsing and sanitizing usingaclean,emptyfigal(5 gallon syrup tank)for
eachsolution.
CLEANINGTANK -- Fill withasolution of1/2 ounce ofamildliquid detergent(forexample,ivoryliquid)to
1 gallon ofwarm(120_)potablewater.
RINSINGTANK -- Fill withwarm(120_F)potablewater.
SANITIZINGTANK -- Fill withachlorine sanitizing solution inthe strength of1/2 ounce ofhousehold
bleach(sodiumhypochlorite)to 1 gallon ofcold(ambient)potablewaterto obtainasolution strength of
200 PPM.
NOTE:Repeat thefollowing procedureon each of theunit’s syrup productlines and beveragefau-
cets.
2.Usingasuitable pail orbucket, fill one with a detergentsolution and a second containerwithasanitizing
solution isthe strengthsasdescribed instep 1.

solution.Clean withanylon bristle brush(do notuseawire brush).Rinsewithclean potablewater.
B.Wearing sanitarygloves,nextsubmerge the quick disconnect fitting inthe sanitizing containerfor15
minutes.Remove and airdry.
3.Hook-up the sanitized productline fitting (step 2)tothe cleaning tank.Hook-up a gasdisconnect fitting to
the tankand pressurizewith60to 80 psigCO2.Energizethe beverage faucetcontinuouslyfor1minuteto
remove all airbubbles.Continue to operatethe faucetuntil liquid dispensed isfree ofany syrup.Cyclethe
faucet for15 secondson,off and then immediatelyon again.Repeat thisprocedurefor15 cycles.Then
energizethe faucet toremainflowing for3minutes.
4.Hook-up the rinsing tankand pressurizewith60to 80 psigCO2.Flushthe cleaning solution fromthe prod-
uctline by cycling the faucetasdescribed instep 3 and then energizethe faucet toflowcontinuouslyfor3
minutes.
5.Hook-up the sanitizing tankand pressurizewith60to 80 psigCO2.Flowthe sanitizing solution through the
beverage faucetby cycling the faucetasdescribed instep 3.Nextenergizethe faucetcontinuouslytoflush
atleast2cupsof the sanitizing solution through the system.Finallydeenergizethe faucetand allowthe
sanitizertoremain pressurized inthe line for20 minutes.
6.Wearing sanitarygloves,removethe faucetnozzle and diffuser.Repeat the cleaning and sanitizing proce-
duresasdescribed instep 2, then reassembletothe faucet.
7.Disconnect the sanitizing tank.Hook-up the product tanktothe unitand tothe CO2.system.Energizethe
faucet toflushthe sanitizing solution fromthe syrup line and the faucet. Continue flowon the faucetuntil
only syrup isdispensed.
