3. Installation
NOTE: Sections 3.2 and 3.3 only apply to EDGE-SMH.
3.1 EDGE™ or EDGE8® MTP® Connector Module into SMH
1Remove screws.
Lift cover o. 2b2 For initial mating, remove the dust
cap from the MTP® connector and
dustcap by pulling on the dust cap
while holding the connector
body/housing/shroud.
Mate the connector into the rear of
the module.

3Install module
into SMH. 4Replace cover.
Reinsert and
tighten screws.

For the initial mating, remove the dust
cap from the LC connectors and mate
the connector into the front of the
module.
6Close hinged lid.

scoping before the initial installation.

Lift cover o.
3Attach slack storage / splice
housing attachment with
screws just removed.
2Remove screws and
mounting bracket.
4Remove cover from
empty module.
Replace housing cover
and tighten screws.

5Install empty
module into SMH.
6Install harness; clean
and mate connectors and
adapters.
7Replace module cover.

Store harness slack
in storage attachment.
Secure with cable tie.

Install cover on
splice tray.
10 Secure splice tray
with screw.

1Remove screws.
Lift cover o.

housing attachment with
screws just removed.
2Remove screws and
mounting bracket.
4Remove cover from
empty module.
Replace housing cover
and tighten screws.

5Install empty
module into SMH.
6Install harness; clean
and mate connectors and
adapters.

Store harness slack
in storage attachment.
Secure with cable tie.

Install cover on
splice tray.

with screw.

Replace housing cover
and tighten screws.

5Install empty
module into SMH. 6Wrap pigtail bers in spiral wrap; clean and mate
connectors and adapters.
7Replace module cover.

Splice pigtail to bers;
store in splice tray.

Install cover on
splice tray.
10 Secure splice tray
with screw.

Cable tie
3Attach slack storage/splice
housing attachment with
screws just removed.
