will also disarm at the same time, chirping the siren twice, unlocking the doors and
turning the exterior lights on for thirty or sixty seconds. Most other vehicle alarms
force you to disarm first and then release the trunk to avoid triggering the alarm.

Security System Armed And Triggered
While the security system is armed, the LED Status Indicator will be flashing.
Should any intrusion attempt occur, your system will instantly "trigger". Once

Backup Battery
This security system includes a 9 volt alkaline battery and a slide bracket holder
which attaches to the security system control module. The 9 volt battery is all that is
required to provide alternative power to operate the system if the vehicle's battery is
disconnected.Abuilt-inprotectioncircuitwillnotallowthe9voltbatterytobackfeed

anywhere batteries are sold. We recommend the battery be replaced with another
alkalinebattery every 18 months or after the 9 voltbattery has operated the alarmon
its own for any length of time. Under the following conditions, a new 9 volt alkaline
battery's life is anticipated to be approximately:
1. 2 days as the only power source to the system while in the armed condition.
2. 25 triggered cycles. A triggered cycle is the 60 second period after thesecurity
system is triggered, in which the siren is sounding. The cycle ends when the
system automatically resets to the armed state.
3. 50 separate transmitter arm and disarm activations.
4. 18 months if the 9 volt battery circuit has not been activated. -13

Electronic Siren And Flashing Lights
The electronic siren and the vehicle's exterior lights primary function is to attract
attentionto your vehicle if the security systemis triggered. In addition, they are also

Passive System Arming By "Last Door Arming"

point of entry is reopened before the single chirp at 30 seconds, the passive arming
process stops, and will reset to start over again when that point of entry is reclosed.
"Automatic Last Door Arming" offers a high level of security, since it does not

Programmable Features
Your Crime Guardvehicle security system has 13 programmable features that
allowyoursystemtobecustomized tofit yourpersonal needs.Four ofthesefeatures
are selectable by the DIP Switches inside the security system control module. The
otherninefeaturesareprogrammedbyusingacombinationoftheignitionswitch,the
Easy ValetTM switch and the transmitter. Please see your Crime Guard dealer or
installer for more details, as we recommend that the installer change any of the
followingfeatures.
Four Features Programmed By DIP Switches Inside The Control Unit:
1) Anti-Carjacking Protection.
FeatureTurnedOn:Afterturningthe ignitionswitch "on"andstartingthevehicle,
you must press the Easy ValetTM switch within 60 seconds. If the valet switch is not
pressed the security system will begin chirping 53 seconds after the ignition was
turned"on".Thesechirpsare toremindyouthattheAnti-Carjackisaboutto engage;
pressing the valet switch during the chirps will stop the Anti-Carjack feature. The
chirps will last for 7 seconds, after which time the siren will fully engage and the
parking lights will begin flashing to attract attention to the vehicle. 30 seconds after

system. This is accomplished by the status indicator flashing one to four times
between pauses, as defined on page 16, until the ignition key is turned "on".
Disarming The System Using The Transmitter
Disarming The System From The Transmitter: While the security system is
in the armed state, pressing and releasing the large transmitter button once will
instantly disarm the system and unlock the doors. If you have the optional unlock

programmable and may be turned off. See your Crime Guard dealer or installer for
details.Note:Automatic Rearmingcanbepausedbyopeningthedoororstoppedby
turning "on" the ignition key. Note: Automatic Rearming is confirmed by a fast
flashing LED Status Indicator after disarming, unless the system was triggered and
reset, in which case a Zone Violation code will flash instead.
Remote Valet Activation: Remote Valet allows you to prevent your Crime
Guard system from automatically rearming by utilizing your transmitter. Within 3

You may want to ask the installing dealer if this is a service that they provide, and if
there will be any charge for this service. If you plan on replacing the 9 volt battery
yourself, be sure to have the installer show you how to access the security system's
control unit.
Impact And Glass Sensor With Prewarn Feature
Your Crime Guard security system features two ports which allows an auxiliary
sensor to easily be added to increase the effectiveness of your system. Your system
includes a Dual Zone Infrasonic Impact and Glass Resonance sensor, which will
detect shock or impact to your vehicle. A light shock or impact to the vehicle will
initiate the Prewarn feature, while heavier shock or impact will trigger the security
system. Other sensors are available which include those that monitor shock to the
vehicle,detectchangesinatmosphericpressurewithinthevehicle,andradarsensors
thatcandetectmotioninsideandoutsidethevehicle.Thesensormaybetemporarily
bypassed using the transmitter, which is described on page 7.
