PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING THE FILTER WITH 1/4” COMPRESSED FITTINGS
Read all instructions carefully before beginning to install your filter.
IMPORTANT: Failure to follow instructions may result in voidance of warranty.
For use on 1/4” copper or plastic tubing.
1Shut-off your
water source
2Locate an easily accessible section of tubing.
Shut-off valve must be on inlet side of filter.
3Cut and remove a 6” section of
tubing making sure ends are cut
square.
4Unscrew nuts from compression
fittings (not included) and slip
ferrules and nuts over tubing
ends. If your tubing is plastic,

into ends of tube.

Note: 1/4” NPT and 1/4” compression fittings (not included), other appropriate fittings may be required for installation.

5Apply one to two turns of PTFE tape (not included) to
threads of fittings. Thread fittings into ports of filter body.
Tighten fittings snuggly, but DO NOT over tighten.
6Connect the inlet port of the filter to the incoming water
line following steps 7 & 8.
7Insert end of tubing into compression fitting; hand tighten
nut onto threads of fittings.
8With wrench or pliers, tighten compression nut one full turn.
CAUTION: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
9Turn on the incoming water sup-
ply to flush out the filter into a bucket
or pan thereby removing fine par-
ticles of charcoal which may be pres-
ent in the filter body. When water is
clear, stop the flushing procedure.
10 Connect the outlet port of the filter
to the water line going to your equip-
ment being served.
11 Turn on water supply line. If leak
occurs, tighten nuts or fittings until leak stops.
12 After six months, simply replace with another CFS717.
13 Use of the two (2) included plastic mounts is recom-
mended, particularly if your tubing is of a non-rigid material.
Proceed as follows:
a) Peel protective backing from mounting pads and firmly
apply to a clean surface. Mount pads 8 3/8” to 8 1/2” apart
in a direction that most readily accommodates your tub-
ing. Adhesive backing may prove inadequate on certain
surfaces. A wood screw or other suitable fastener may be
use by piercing through the center of the mounting pad.
CAUTION: Make certain fasteners do not contact hidden
electrical wiring.
b) Pass straps through eyelets of mounting pads with
the toothed surface of the straps facing you.
c) Position the CFS717 filter over mounting pads, loop
straps around bass fittings in filter body and fasten straps
securely. IMPORTANT: Straps cannot be unfastened
once closed—make certain filter is correctly mounted
before fastening.
d) When replacing filter, cut straps with snippers or
scissors. A new mounting kit is furnished with each re-
placement filter.
NOTE: Activated carbon filters are not intended for use where
water is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality.
