1 Brief Introduction
1.1 Preface
This manual describes the assembly, installation, operation and troubleshooting. Please read this
manual carefully and put this manual on some place where is convenient to installation, operation, obtain.
Any modifications of user’s manual, we will not notify the user.
1.2 Target Group
Only qualified and trained electrical technicians are allowed to install and operate the unit.
The unit is compatible with lead acid battery. For lead acid battery, you are easy to find it on the market.
However, we strongly recommend you to contact your installer or CyberPower system to confirm before the
procedure.
1.3 Product Description
The unit is sort of off-grid inverter. It uses surplus PV generation to charge the battery in the day time.
After the sun goes down, the PV generation is unavailable, it discharge the battery or utilize grid electricity
to power the load at night. It enjoys following features:
Pure sine wave inverter
Built-in MPPT solar charge controller
Configurable input voltage range for home appliances and personal computers via LCD setting
Configurable battery charging current based on applications via LCD setting
Configurable AC/Solar Charger priority via LCD setting
Auto restart while AC is recovering
Overload/Over temperature/Short circuit protection
Smart battery charger design for optimized battery performance
Cold start function

1.4 Basic System Architecture
As shown in above system diagram, the unit is used to power common house appliances including
some inductive load such as light, refrigerator. Also, diesel generator and power grid can be compensation
in which solar energy is insufficient as well as to charge the battery.

2 Safety Instructions
a. Before using the unit, read all instructions and cautionary marking on the unit, the batteries and all
appropriate sections of this manual. The company has the right not to quality assurance, if not
according to the instructions of this manual for installation and cause equipment damage.
b. All the operation and connection please professional electrical or mechanical engineer.
c. All the electrical installation must comply with the local electrical safety standards.
d. When install PV modules in the daytime, installer should cover the PV modules by opaque materials,
otherwise it will be dangerous as high terminal voltage of modules in the sunshine.
e. CAUTION烉To reduce risk of injury, charge only deep-cycle lead-acid type rechargeable batteries. Other
types of batteries may burst, causing personal injury and damage.
f. Do not disassemble the unit. Take it to a qualified service center when service or repair is required.
Incorrect re-assembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.
g. To reduce risk of electric shock, disconnect all wirings before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
Turning off the unit will not reduce this risk.
h. NEVER charge a frozen battery.
i. For optimum operation of this inverter, please follow required spec to select appropriate cable size.
It’s very important to correctly operate this inverter.
j. Be very cautious when working with metal tools on or around batteries. A potential risk exists to drop
a tool to spark or short circuit batteries or other electrical parts and could cause an explosion.
k. Please strictly follow installation procedure when you want to disconnect AC or DC terminals. Please
refer to INSTALLATION section of this manual for the details.
l. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS -This inverter should be connected to a permanent grounded wiring
system. Be sure to comply with local requirements and regulation to install this inverter.
m. NEVER cause AC output and DC input short circuited. Do NOT connect to the mains when DC input
short circuits.
n. Make sure the inverter is completely assembled, before the operation.
This chapter contains important safety and operating instructions. Read and keep
this manual for future reference.

3 Installation
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Before installation, please inspect the unit. Be sure that nothing inside the package is damaged. You
should have received the following items inside of package:

3.2 Basic Installation Requirements
a. The installation location must be suitable for inverter’s weight for a long period time.
b. The installation location must conform to dimension of the inverter.
c. Do not install the unit on structures constructed of flammable or thermo labile materials.
d. The Ingress Protection rate is IP20 and the pollution degree is PD2, The install area shall be generally
conditioned in term of temperature, humidity and air filtration.
e. Battery installation option is not far below the position of inverter.
f. The humidity of the installation location should be 0 ~ 90%.
g. The ambient temperature should be 0ɗ~ 55ɗ.
h. The inverter can be installed in vertical or lean back on plane, Please refer to the below. Installation
position shall not prevent access to the disconnecting means.

i. In order to ensure machine can run normally and easy to operate, please pay attention to provide
adequate space for the inverter. Please refer to below:

j. Do not install the machine near television antenna or any other antennas and antenna cables.
k. Do not install the machine in the living area.
l. Be sure that the machine is out of the children’s reach.
m. Install the unit by screwing three crews as below. It’s recommended to use M6 screws.

3.3 Inverter Connection
3.3.1 Lead acid battery connection
User can choose proper capacity lead acid battery with a nominal voltage at 48V. Also, you need to
choose battery type as “lead acid battery”.

For safety operation and regulation compliance, it’s requested to install a separate DC
over-current protector or disconnect device between battery and inverter. It may not be
requested to have a disconnect device in some applications, however, it’s still requested to
have over-current protection installed.
All wiring must be performed by qualified personnel.
It's very important for system safety and efficient operation
to use appropriate cable for battery connection. To reduce
risk of injury, please use the proper recommended cable and
terminal size as below.

Note:
For lead acid battery, the recommended charge current is 0.2C (C
Æ battery capacity).
Please follow below steps to implement lead-acid battery connection
a. Assemble battery ring terminal based on recommended battery cable and terminal size
(Same as Lead acid, see section 3.3.2 for details).
b. Insert the ring terminal of battery cable flatly into battery connector of inverter and make sure the
bolts are tightened with a torque of 2-3Nm.Make sure polarity at both the battery and the inverter is
correctly connected and ring terminals are tightly screwed to the battery terminals.

CAUTION:
Shock Hazard
Installation must be performed with care due to high battery voltage in series.
Do NOT place anything between the flat part of the inverter terminal and the ring
terminal. Otherwise, overheating may occur.
Do NOT apply anti-oxidant substance on the terminals before terminals are
connected tightly.
Before making the final DC connection or closing DC breaker, be sure positive (+)
must be connected to positive (+) and negative (-) must be connected to negative (-).

3.3.2 AC Input & Output Connection

Suggested cable requirement for AC wires
Please follow below steps to implement AC input/output connection
a. Before making AC input/output connection, be sure to open DC protector or disconnector first.
b. Remove insulation sleeve 10mm for six conductors. And shorten phase L and neutral conductor N
3mm.
c. Insert AC input wires according to polarities indicated on terminal block and tighten the terminal
screws. Be sure to connect PE protective conductor ( ) first.

Before connecting to AC input power source, please install a separate AC breaker
between inverter and AC input power source. This will ensure the inverter can be
securely disconnected during maintenance and fully protected from over current of
AC input. The recommended spec of AC breaker is 50A for 5KVA.
There are two terminal blocks with “IN” and “OUT” markings. Please do NOT
mis-connect input and output connectors.
All wiring must be performed by qualified personnel.
It's very important for system safety and efficient operation to use appropriate cable
for AC input connection. To reduce risk of injury, please use the proper recommended
cable size as below.

WARNING:
d. Then, insert AC output wires according to polarities indicated on terminal block and tighten terminal
screws. Be sure to connect PE protective conductor ()first.

e. Make sure the wires are securely connected.
CAUTION:
Be sure that AC power source is disconnected before attempting to hardwire it to the
unit.
Be sure to connect AC wires with correct polarity. If L and N wires are connected
reversely, it may cause utility short-circuited when these inverters are worked in
parallel operation.

3.3.3 PV Connection

PV Module Selection
When selecting proper PV modules, please be sure to consider below parameters:
a. Open circuit Voltage (Voc) of PV modules not exceeds max. PV array open circuit voltage
of inverter.
b. Open circuit Voltage (Voc) of PV modules should be higher than min. battery voltage.

There’re two pairs of string for PV Input. Also, it’s allowed to make two PV input parallel (see section 7.2 for
details).
Please follow below steps to implement PV input connection:
a. Remove insulation sleeve 10 mm for positive and negative conductors.

Before connecting to PV modules, please install separately a DC circuit breaker
between inverter and PV modules.
All wiring must be performed by qualified personnel.
It's very important for system safety and efficient operation to use appropriate cable
for PV module connection. To reduce risk of injury, please use the proper
recommended cable size as below.

b. Check correct polarity of connection cable from PV modules and PV input connectors.
Then, connect positive pole (+) of connection cable to positive pole (+) of PV input connector.
Connect negative pole (-) of connection cable to negative pole (-) of PV input connector.

c. Make sure the wires are securely connected.
3.3.4 Finally assemble
After connecting all wirings, please put bottom cover back by screwing two screws as shown below:

4 Communication Connection
The unit is compatible with RS232 and RS485 communication.
It can be monitored by RS232 port on local PC or RS485 port on data logger, and configured by RS232 port
on local PC.

5 Dry Contact
There’s one dry contact (2A/30VDC) available on the rear panel. It could be used to deliver signal to
external device need external power when battery voltage reached warning level.

6 Introduction & installation of Parallel
CAUTION:
6.1 Introduction of parallel
CPS5000ECH48-P can be used in parallel operation in single phase with up to 3 units. The following
items were used, if you need parallel function.

6.2 Mounting the unit
When installing multiple units, please follow below chart.

CAUTION:
6.3 Parallel installation in single phase
You need to connect the cables of each inverter together. Take the battery cables for example: You
need to use a connector or bus-bar as a joint to connect the battery cables together, and then connect to
the battery terminal. The cable size used from joint to battery should be X times cable size of each
inverter. “X” indicates the number of inverters connected in parallel. Regarding AC input and output,
please also follow the same principle.
Contents of this chapter were applied to CPS5000ECH48-P only.
For proper air circulation to dissipate heat, allow a clearance of approx. 300mm to the
side and approx. 500mm above and below the unit. Be sure to install each unit in the
same level

If you want to use only one breaker at the battery side for the whole system, the rating of the breaker
should be X times current of 1 unit. “X” indicates the number of inverters connected in parallel. But we
suggest that each inverter has a battery breaker. It will be safer.
Recommended breaker specification of AC input/output with single phase

Also, you can use 40A breaker for only 1 unit, and each inverter has a breaker at its AC input/output L line.
WARNING:
Be sure that all inverters will share the same battery bank. Otherwise, the inverters
will transfer to fault mode.
Be sure the length of all battery cables is the same. Otherwise, there will be voltage
difference between inverter and battery to cause parallel inverters not working.
Please install the breaker at the battery and AC input/output side. This will ensure the
inverter can be securely disconnected during maintenance and fully protected from
over current of battery or AC input/output. The recommended mounted location of
the breakers is shown in the figures in 6.4 and 6.6.
Unobstructed connections for all inverter’s AC input/output N lines.
Please ensure that the L&N order for each machine is consistent. Otherwise, the
inverter may be damaged.
