2.1Beforeyoustart
Thetwoapplications,A217.1/A317.1arealmostidentical.
However,A317.1hassomeextrafunctionswhicharedescribed
separately.
TheapplicationsA217.1/A317.1areveryflexible.Thesearethe
basicprinciples:
DomesticHotWater(DHW):
Bymeansofaweekschedule(upto3‘omfort’periods/day),the
DHWcircuitcanbein‘omfort’or‘Saving’mode(twodifferent
temperaturevaluesforthedesiredDHWtemperatureatS6).
Theheating/chargingtemperaturesensorS3isthemost
importantsensor.
IfthemeasuredDHWtemperature(S6)getslowerthanthedesired
DHWtemperature,theDHWheating/chargingpump(P1)is
switchedON.
Themotorizedcontrolvalve(M1)iscontrolledinordertomaintain
theheating/chargingtemperatureatS3.Thistemperatureis
typically5–10degreeshigherthanthedesiredDHWtemperature.
Amax.valuecanbeset.
DHWtankwith1temperaturesensor(S6):
IfthemeasuredDHWtemperature(S6)getshigherthanthe
desiredDHWtemperature,theDHWheating/chargingpump(P1)
isswitchedOFF.Thepost-runtimecanbeset.
DHWtankwith2temperaturesensors(S6andS8):
IfthemeasuredDHWtemperature(S6)getshigherthanthedesired
DHWtemperatureandthelowertemperature(atS8)getshigher
thanthecut-outtemperature,theDHWheating/chargingpump
(P1)isswitchedOFF.Thepost-runtimecanbeset.
InchargingapplicationstheDHWcirculationcanbethrough
theDHWtank(connectionA)orthroughtheheat-exchanger
(connectionB).
ThesolutionwithconnectionAresultsinclosingofthemotorized
controlvalveaftertheDHWtankchargingprocedure.
ThesolutionwithconnectionBisusedtocompensateforthe
heatlossintheDHWcirculationpipe.Furthermore,afterDHW
tankcharging,thecirculationtemperature(atS3)iscontrolled
accordingtothedesiredDHWtemperature.
Thereturntemperature(S5)tothedistrictheatingsupplyshould
notbetoohigh.Ifso,thedesiredchargingtemperaturecanbe
adjusted(typicallytoalowervalue),thusresultinginagradual
closingofthemotorizedcontrolvalve.
Inboiler-basedheatingsupplythereturntemperatureshouldnot
betoolow(sameadjustmentprocedureasabove).
Thesupplytemperature,S2,isusedforadjustingtheproportional
band(Xp)inordertogiveastabletemperaturecontrol.
Ananti-bacteriafunctionisavailableforactivationonselected
daysoftheweek.
TheoutdoortemperaturesensorS1isusedtoprotectthe
circulationcircuitagainstfrost.
TheDHWcirculationpump(P3)hasaweekscheduleforupto3
ON-periodsperday.
