1 Before you start
We recommend to fully charge the battery before first usage.
COMPACT MAX can be charged either by connecting the USB cable to
the wall mounted adapter or to a USB port on your PC.
Microchip technologies supported
■FDX B, FDX A/Fecava, Avid Encrypted, Trovan
(“COMPACT MAX” US version)
To conveniently interface COMPACT MAX to your computer, to check
for newer versions of the COMPACT MAX firmware or to modify the
default settings, we recommend using S ID companion software, freely
downloadable from www.datamars.com

Switching On the Scanner
■Press the “ON/READ” button.
■The Home screen will appear:
■Note that COMPACT MAX has an “Auto off” function that automatically
turns off the reader after 2 minutes (default value) of inactivity.

3 Using COMPACT MAX to Scan Microchips
■From the home menu, press the “ON/READ” button to start reading
■Hold the scanner close to, or touching the animal
■For optimal reading, keep the scanner parallel
to the animal’s body rather than pointing it
at the animal
■Scan slowly and repeatedly over the entire body
■Wave the scanner back and forth lightly while
scanning. Microchips can be in various orientations
■Scan first in a horizontal, then a vertical “S” pattern
down the animal’s body, as shown in the diagram
below

■Consider scanning each animal twice if no microchip has been found
at first scan.

WARRANTY CARD
The warranty covers damage caused by faulty material or
manufacturing defects for the period of 1 year from the date of
purchase.
Equipment repaired by a third party, as well as damage caused
by the customer are not covered by this warranty. Claims for
covering of damage exceeding the limits of the present warranty
are not accepted.
In case of repair or replacement the warranty is neither extended
nor renewed.
In the event of a claim under this warranty contact your dealer
directly and present the warranty certificate stamped and dated
by the dealer or the purchase invoice. Repairs carried out without
a valid warranty certificate will be invoiced to the customer.
