1. Presentaon
The HB500 is a handbike designed to meet the needs of adults and young people who are new to the sport of
handcycling on tracks and roads. Made with a lightweight aluminium alloy, it offers a wide range of
adjustments, meaning it can be configured in line with the users’ needs and the requirements of their various
pathologies. Addionally, it means it can accompany them as they develop and progress in their sport, from
leisure to compeons. The wheelchair complies with the following standards:
ISO 7176-8 (test model 120 kg)
ISO 7176-16
You must NOT use wheelchairs and their elements incorrectly or for uses other than those indicated
in this manual.
1.1 HB500 Descripon
The HB500 is a three-wheeled manual handbike with an aluminium frame.
1.2 HB500 Features

2. Warning
The user is reminded that they should carry out a self-assessment of the crical points associated with their
specific pathology, and with their parcular postural requirements, before proceeding with any adjustments or
use of the handbike. OFFCARR does not accept any responsibility for any damages caused by incorrect
seang in the handbike, or by features of sing in the wheelchair which are incompable with the user's
pathology.
The cushion provided IS NOT ANTI-SORE , it is made with expanded polyurethane with a density of 75
shore with a Nylon fabric cover.
Avoid contact of the handbike with water.Undesirable rust may occur on some metal parts and/or loss of
the safety features of the materials concerned.
The handbike must only be used for the sport it has been designed for, or for compable disciplines, and
not for transporng objects in general, and it must not be used in other contexts. This could be dangerous
insofar as some of the usual safety elements for the device in moon are absent (e.g. Parking brakes, etc.).
Allergies caused by contact with parts of the handbike should be reported.
Keep the handbike away from heat sources in order to avoid any of the components seng alight. The
coverings meet the criteria for the standard ISO 7176 16:2012.
Do not put your fingers into the spikes when the handbike is in moon.
Inflate the tyres to a pressure within the range indicated inside the tyre. If transporng by plane, it is
suggested that you deflate the tyres to avoid excess pressure.
The handbike must be regularly maintained, so that it is kept in good working condion but especially so
that the safety condions are upheld.
Inefficient maintenance and the improper use of the device may cause damages and injury to users.
Alteraons may invalidate the minimum safety condions.
The registraon of the device and the address of the manufacturer can be found on a small scker
located underneath the handbike’s lower frame. This scker must never be removed, at risk of invalidang the
product's guarantee.
The indicated life span of the wheelchair is 4 years under normal usage condions, subject to it always
being used by the same person and undergoing regular maintenance.
3. Supplied base configuraon
The HB500 handbike comes with a standard configuraon and is ready to use.

3.1 First use
Set-up must be performed before using the device and must be done by the user or the person assisng
him/her.The handbike is shipped with the rear wheels removed. Posion the rear wheels and secure them
using a 6 mm Allen key (supplied).It is recommended you check the pressure of the wheels before use,
ensuring they're at 9 BAR. The inflaon pressure is indicated on the sides of the tyre covers. However, it is
recommended that you always ensure that the wheels are properly secured before using the handbike.
3.2 Base configuraon

4. Adjustments
4.1 Rear seat height adjustment
To funcon properly, the carriage mount should be as parallel as possible to the ground. To adjust the rear
height:
● Loosen but do not remove screws "F4" and "F3" (see 4.2)
● Unscrew and remove the “4” screws.
● Posion the rear seat at the desired height, aligning the holes in the plate.
● Replace the "D" screws and ghten them properly.
● Tighten the F4 "F3" screws
Ensure that the screw posions on the plates are the same on both sides.

4.2 Front seat height adjustment
The handbike is shipped with a front height of 50 cm from the ground. Please note that this seng is the only
way to change the distance relave to the footplate.We therefore recommend verifying that this distance is
correct immediately aer selecng the desired seat inclinaon and adjusng the rear height in the same way:
To funcon properly, the carriage mount should be as parallel as possible to the ground. The distance between
the seat and ground can vary from 500 to 600 mm, and between 400 and 500 mm for the footplate. To set the
front height:
● Loosen but do not remove screws "F3" and "F4" (see 4.1)
● Unscrew and remove the “B” screw.
● Posion the front seat support at the same height as the rear (parallel to the ground), aligning the
holes in the plate
● Put the "B" screws back in place and ghten them properly.
● Tighten the F3 "F4" screws
4.3 Adjusng the seat inclinaon
The seat angle can be adjusted via two plates on either side of the seat.
● Loosen the F1 screws
● Unscrew and remove the "A" screws
● Select the new angle from the 4 possible posions
● Re-insert and ghten the A screws
● Tighten the F1 screws
These operaons must be carried out at the same me on both sides.

4.4 Adjusng the backrest incline
The backrest is shipped with a standard angle of 91°, which can be modified in the following manner:
● Loosen the F6 screws
● Loosen and remove screws "E" and "F"
● Select the desired angle by aligning the holes correctly.
● Insert and ghten screws "E" and "F" properly and ghten the "F6" screws.
Ensure that the screw posions on the plates are the same on both sides.
4.5 Adjusng the tautness of the backrest canvas
● Li the rear secon of the canvas.
● Loosen the straps.
● With the athlete in playing posion, pull taut the straps as much as necessary, starng with the top
strap.
● Fold the backrest canvas back again.
● Try some game movements and repeat the operaon if the posion isn't quite right.
4.6 Footplate depth adjustment
The depth of the footplate is adjustable in depth. To do this:
● Slightly loosen screw "K"
● Slide the footplate along the guide to the desired posion
● Tighten screw "K" securely

4.7 Leg strap assembly
The HB500 is equipped with a leg strap to keep the knees aached to the frame. On each end of the strap
there is respecvely a male and a female velcro patch.For assembly, we recommend pressing the male velcro
end of the strap onto the legs (velcro upwards) and running the strap around the legs so that the other end
with the female velcro aaches to the first, as shown in the photo:
4.8 Assembling the pelvic strap
The HB500 is designed to accommodate a 45° pelvic strap.This can be mounted on the backrest adjustment
bar, as shown in the diagram.
5. Tips and recommendaons for use
If needed, the padding can be washed at low temperatures. Nevertheless, avoid immersing the other,
mechanical parts of the wheelchair in water. Always clean the handbike thoroughly for maximum efficiency.

6. Maintenance, inspecons and checks
ATTENTION!
● Always ensure that the wheels are correctly locked (see par. 6.5).
● Always ensure that the lights, bell and reflectors are correctly posioned (see par. 6.2)
● The handbike should be regularly checked to ensure it remains efficient and safe.
● Insufficient maintenance and improper use of the device may cause damages and injury to people
or property.
● There is no real danger of personal injury when using the handbike as it has been designed to
reduce the risk of accidents during use or preparaon for use. However, as this is a specialist
product that could become dangerous if used in different contexts, we recommend using only
original or manufacturer-approved spare parts when replacing certain components.
● Should you encounter any difficules in finding spare parts on the market, please contact
DECATHLON.
Each week :
● Check the tyre pressures. On the side of each wheel cover, you’ll find the recommended tyre
pressure. A deflated tyre compromises the smooth operaon of the Handbike.
● Check the efficiency of the brakes (see par 6.3).
● Check that the gear and brake cables are not entangled.
Each quarter:
● Ensure that the rear wheel bearing bolts are securely fastened.
● Verify the efficiency of the bearings on the front and rear wheels and lubricate if necessary. We
recommend using silicon oil as a grease, as it's effecve and non-staining.
● Check the posion of the gear shi (see par.6.4).
6.1 R eplacing the tyre and air chamber
Disassembling the tyre and air chamber
● Deflate the tyre
● Install a special lever between the circle and the shoulder of the tyre, so that when the lever is lted,
the side of the wheel comes out (fig. 1 and 2)
● Install another lever 100 mm from the previous point and repeat the operaon (fig. 3)
● Slide the two levers around the whole circle to release the enre tyre.
● Remove the air chamber, starng with the side opposite the inflaon valve (fig. 4)
● Once the air chamber has been removed, you can easily remove the tyre to replace either or both of
them.
Assembling the air chamber and tyre
● Remove the air chamber (deflated) in the tyre (fig. 5).
● Insert the air chamber inflaon valve into the whole intended for this purpose, located on the circle.
● Around the whole circle, install the tyre, taking note of the direcon of the tyre, which indicates
whether it's the right or le drive wheel.
● Install the opposite shoulder over the tyre, starng from the point where the valve is, moving round in
both direcons.
● Insert the final part of the shoulder with the help of the levers intended for this, reversing the
instrucons shown in Fig. 3, Fig. 2, and Fig. 1.
● Inflate the tyre to the pressure indicated on its side.

6.2 Replacing the bearings
Disassembly
● The drive wheel bearings (6001 2RS) are mounted by applying pressure. To remove them, you simply
need to push them from the inside, using a pin dri and a hammer.
Assembly
● Posion a new bearing on the inner side of the hub, taking care to insert it evenly (it must be co-axial
with the hub, otherwise it won't go in).
● Before posioning the bearing, on the opposite side, you need to insert the quick removal axle into
the bearing which has already been inserted, so that the axle itself acts as a guide for the two
bearings. This way, you make sure that the hub and two bearings are co-axial.
6.3 Brake inspecon
To check the proper funconing of the brakes, first examine the integrity of each brake component (lever,
lining, clamp), then press the brake levers one at a me to check whether each independently acvates the
brake clamp.

6.4 Derailleur inspecon
Raise the front wheel with a tripod so that it can turn freely. Move the levers in the direcon of travel, acvate
the derailleur by means of the two levers on the right-hand crank and check whether each gear change

corresponds to the relevant adjustment of the derailleur (you can feel whether the pedalling movement
becomes more difficult or easier depending on the direcon given).

6.5 Axle inspecon
Once the wheel has been mounted as shown below and the axle has been screwed in clockwise, pull the wheel
outwards and push it towards the inside of the chair to verify that there is no movement.
6.6 Lights, bell and reflectors inspecon
The front and rear (independent) lights are posioned on the HB500 in the locaons shown in the figure
below.One reflector is placed on each wheel as shown below.

7. C leaning and disinfecon instrucons
ATTENTION! Use the appropriate eye/face protecon and gloves during cleaning and disinfecon
operaons.
If the wheelchair comes into contact with blood or other bodily fluids, it must first be cleaned and disinfected,
following the instrucons below.
Note: In most cases, it is more interesng and more efficient to remove the seat and backrest canvas before
cleaning and disinfecng.
Frame
● Wash the HB500 with a damp cloth, using warm water and neutral soap to remove dirt or stains.
● Wash the HB500 again with a damp cloth to remove the detergent product.
● Dry the HB500
● Visually check that the wheelchair is clean
● Disinfect the wheelchair with 70-90% alcohol.
● Make sure that the wheelchair is completely dry before proceeding.
Canvases
If the user is the same before and aer cleaning:
● Wash, rinse and disinfect the canvases, using the same procedure as used for the frame.
● Make sure that the canvases are completely dry before re-aaching them to the frame.
If the user changes aer cleaning:
● We recommend replacing the canvas from the seat and backrest with new, fresh canvases.
NOTE: During cleaning operaons, the wheelchair must be carefully inspected for ant damages, rust or
malfuncons.. If damage or malfuncon is reported, the elements must be repaired or replaced.

ATTENTION! All waste generated by this process must be discarded in line with the applicable local
legislaon.
8. P ackaging, transport and delivery
All HB500 are shipped packaged in sealed cardboard boxes, intended to protect them from impacts and dust.
The packaging includes the HB500 in its basic configuraon, fied with wheels and accessories, a service kit
for basic maintenance, and this user manual to which the guarantee card is aached. The HB500 should be
transported using sealed transport methods which protect it from atmospheric agents, as reminded in the
instrucons provided to this effect on the packaging. Upon delivery, check the integrity of the packaging:
Open the packaging and check to make sure that the wheelchair hasn't been damaged in transit. Once these
inial checks, which are compulsory for the validity of the guarantee, have been carried out and if the HB500
isn't used soon aer, repackage it and store it in a dry place, in a storage area at a temperature between -15
°C and 50° C and RH lower than 80%. Do not lean or place objects on the packaging, as indicated via the
symbols featured on the packaging.
9. M aterial idenficaon
The HB500 is made using the following materials: aluminium, steel, tanium, polyurethane thermoseng
resins, and other composite materials. The sorng and disposal of these materials must be carried out in
accordance with the current regulaons.

1. Présentaon
HB500 est un handbike conçu pour répondre aux exigences d’adultes et jeunes qui découvrent la discipline
handbike praquée sur piste et sur route. Réalisé dans un alliage d’aluminium léger, il offre une large gamme
de réglages lui permeant d’être configuré en foncon des besoins d' ulisateurs ayant des pathologies
différentes, et de les accompagner dans le développement et leurs progrès sporfs, de loisir et de compéon.
Le disposif est conforme aux normes suivantes :
ISO 7176-8 (mannequin d’essai 120 kg)
ISO 7176-16
Il est interdit d'uliser les fauteuils roulants et les éléments de ceux-ci à des fins impropres ou
différentes de celles prévues dans ce manuel.

2. A verssements
Il est rappelé à l’ulisateur qu’une autoévaluaon des points criques liés à sa pathologie propre et aux
exigences posturales spécifiques est indispensable avant de procéder à l’éventuel réglage et ulisaon du
handbike. OFFCARR décline toute responsabilité pour d’éventuels dommages causés par une assiee
incorrecte du handbike ou par des caractérisques de celui-ci incompables avec la pathologie de
l’ulisateur.
Le coussin fourni N’EST PAS ANTI-ESCARRES , il est réalisé en polyuréthane expansé d’une densité 75
shore avec housse en ssu de Nylon.
Éviter le contact du handbike avec l’eau. Il peut se produire une oxydaon indésirable de certaines
pares métalliques et la perte des caractérisques de sécurité des matériaux concernés.
Le handbike ne doit être ulisé que pour praquer le sport pour lequel il a été conçu ou des disciplines
compables, et non pour le transport d'objets en général, il ne doit pas être ulisé dans d’autres cadres. Il
pourrait s’avérer dangereux dans la mesure où certains éléments de sécurité habituels dans les appareils de
promenade sont absents.
Il convient de signaler les allergies causées par le contact avec des pares du handbike.
Tenir le handbike éloigné de sources de chaleur dans la mesure où tous les composants ne sont pas
ignifugés. Les revêtements répondent aux condions de la norme ISO 7176 16:2012.
Ne pas introduire les doigts dans les rayons lorsque le handbike est en mouvement.
Gonfler les pneus à une pression non supérieure à celle indiquée dans le pneu lui-même. En cas de
transport par avion, il est suggéré de dégonfler le pneu pour éviter les surpressions.
Le handbike doit être régulièrement entretenu aussi bien pour le conserver en bon état de marche mais
surtout pour conserver les condions de sécurité.
Des entreens inefficaces et l’ulisaon inappropriée de l’appareil pourraient causer des dommages et
des blessures aux ulisateurs.
D’éventuelles altéraons pourraient faire disparaître les condions minimales de sécurité.
Le matricule du disposif et l’adresse du constructeur se trouvent sur une pete plaque placée sous le
châssis inférieur du handbike. Cet autocollant ne doit jamais être enlevé sous peine de déchéance de la
garane.
La durée de vie indiquée du disposif est de 4 ans dans des condions normales d’ulisaon, à
condion d’être toujours ulisé par la même personne et d’être régulièrement entretenu.
