1SafetyTips
1.1. General SafetyTips
Before operating tool makesureto carefullyread and
observe this operating instruction.
Generally, the operatorof the equipment and/ormachinery is responsible for
the equipment’s perfect condition and operation, while observing all necessary
safetyregulations. The equipment and/or machineryhas been constructed in
accordance with the newest level of technologywhile recognizingall
necessarysafety-relatedrequirements. Nevertheless, while operatingthe
equipment and/or machinerythereis a risk of bodilyharm totheoperatoras
well as damageto equipment and/or machineryand other property.
Operatethe equipment and/ormachineryonlyif equipment/machinery
• Is used forthe task it was designed for
• is in perfect working condition and safe touse.
It is important toobserve thetechnicaldata of the equipment, especiallyin
regards to theenvironmentaltemperatures. Thedesignated areaof useforthis
equipment is clearly describedinchapter DesignatedEquipment Use and
those requirements have to be observed as well. Prerequisite forthesafe
conduct andthe uninterruptedoperation of the equipment, is the knowledge of
the basic safetytips and thesafetyregulations. Additionally, all current
regulations for asafe operationalarea, foraccident-preventionguidelines of
electrical and mechanicalinstallations, as well as noisesuppressiondemands
must beobserved. During anymaintenanceor repairwork, acleanwork
surfaceis recommended. Also, it is not recommendedtoeithereat orsmoke
during repairor maintenance. Arbitrarychanges made to the equipment, which
alters its designated use, voids the warrantyand cancels the manufacturers
liability.
• The toolis not insulated toprotect against anelectricalpower surge.
• It is not recommended to usethis tool in explosive hazardous
environments, unless it was specifically designed forsucha use.
• During the disconnection orreconnection of the toolfrom the
compressedair, aninjuryis possible because of a whipping pressure-
hose.
The operatinginstruction booklet, especiallythesafetysymbols and safetytips
attachedto theequipment or included in thedocumentation, must beobserved
at all times byall persons gettinginto contact withtheequipment.

•
Disconnect thetoolfromthe air supply, when changingbits or
when readjusting clutch.
• Do not wear wide clothingorjewelry, for theycan beseized by
movable parts. Wear ahairnet if operator has longhair.
• Keep hands off theinstalledbit orsocket.
• Injuryis possible, if the driver reacts with an unexpectedmotionor when
driver is usedwith a brokenbit.
• Keep hands awayfrom holdingfixture (if used). This applies especiallywhen
looseningscrews ina tight area. Thereis arisk of squeezing fingers b
etween
holding bracket and tool. Makesurethat anybracket usedis correctly
installed.
• An unexpected motion of thebit orsocket maycreate a dangerous situation.
• Especially, when operatinganimpact wrench, it is possible that an injury
occurs, if the bit breaks [flying splinters].
• Whenusing toolwith bit-adapter or bit-extension (i.e. Magnetic Bitholder),
make sure, that those items are ingood condition and well suitedfor the
applicationwith this tool.
• When usingascrewdriver stand, make sure that thetool is
securelymounted. If nostand is used, make sureto have a solid
stanceto absorbthe tools’torquereaction force.
• If you are not ableto absorbthetorquereactionforce, usea
holding fixture orside handleonthe screwdriver.
• After turning-off thetool, thebit will continuetorotate [inertia].
• Do not exceed themaximum allowable airpressure. Apressure regulator
has tobeinstalled, which regulates theairpressure beforeit reaches the
tool.
• Avoid pressure tofall belowtheminimum allowable airpressure, because
the clutch cannot shut-off safely. This maycause an increasedtorque
reaction force, resultingin risks to operator, toolor product.
• In case of an interruptionof the air supply, make sureto wait untiltool has
come toa stand still, prior toreactivating tool.

1.3. Owner Obligation
The owner is obliged toonlylet persons operate theequipment, who
• are familiarwith basic work environment safetyrules and accident-
preventing regulations. Also, those persons must have been instructedin
the correct useof the equipment.
• have read andunderstood all safetyand warning notifications in the
Operating Instruction Booklet, as well as all otherdocumentation
pertaining to this equipment.
• check andconfirmat regularintervals, that a safetyoriented operationis
guaranteed.
Onlyqualifiedandauthorizedpersonnel is allowed to operate, maintainand
repair this equipment. Amalfunction, whichimpairs operator safety, must be
immediatelyremoved.
1.4. Operator Obligation
Personnel, who is engaged inthe operationof the equipment, must always be
committed to
• observe thebasic safetyandaccident preventing regulations,
• read andobserve the safetyand warning notifications of this operating
instructionbooklet.

1.5. Warrantyand Liability
Unless otherwise specified, our “General Sales and DeliveryConditions”
apply.Warrantyand liabilityclaims in regardstopersons or equipment
damages areinvalid, if one or several of thefollowing causes apply:
• Use of theequipment inanon-designated application.
• Improperinstallation, operation, service ormaintenanceof themachine.

Operationofthemachine with either defectiveor removed safetyand
protection devices.
• Non-
observance ofthe requirements stated in the operating instruction
booklet
,in regardsto transportation, storage, mounting, installation,

After repair and maintenance, check the following items:

• confirm that removed covers, screens or filters were re-
installed
• During disconnecting orreconnecting of anair-operated

After conclusion of maintenance or repair andpriorto start of
operation, makesure to
• remove all materials, tools andothersupplies needed forthe
maintenance or repair from work area of theequipment
• remove leaking liquid oroils
• make sureallsafetydevices onthe equipment work perfectly!

1.7. Observe Environmental Regulations
Whenworking on or with the equipment, it is imperative to
observe all requirements inregards towaste-disposal and
proper recycling.
Especiallyduringinstallation, repairormaintenance, water
damaging agents such as
• lubricatinggreaseand oil
• hydraulic fluid
• coolingagents
• solvent-containing cleaningagents
must not leak into the ground orinto the sewage system!
Suchmaterials must bestored, transported, containedand
recycled insuitablecontainers.
2Designated Equipment Use
DEPRAG MICROMAT / MINIMAT-ULTRA screwdrivers of straight shapeare
usedformanualtorque-controlled assemblies, preferablyfor vertical
applications.
The function controller requiredforthis screwdriver type, monitors thecorrect
assemblyof screwjoints as well as thenumber of screwjoints perwork piece.
Start-
upand good function are guaranteed onlyin conjunction witha DEPRAG
functioncontrollerconsisting of an fc10and pc 10controller.

3Installation
•
Blowout airlineand pressure hose, prior to connection it to thetool.
• Make sure, that all air lines have a sufficient cross-section(see technical
data)andhoses must befree of bends and kinks. The hose lengthshould
not exceed2 meters.
• All DEPRAGScrewdrivers, maybe operatedeither withor without
lubricatedair. (seeparagraph: Maintenanceand Upkeep)Whenoperating
with oilfreeair, a performance reduction of upto20% occurs and
maintenance requirements increases!
• Connect the equipment as follows:
a) for theuse with minimal lubrication connect to afilter-regulator

OUR RECOMMENDATION: The preferred lubricatingmethod for the
screwdriver spindles mountedinfixtures, brackets, machines, etc., eachin
connection with acontroller, is methodb) withPoint-of-Use Oiler.
• Check pressureat directlyon the machine. The Regulator needs tobe
adjusted toanairflow between 5.0 (71 PSI)and6.3bar(90 PSI). Ahigher
pressureleads toincreased wear and tear. A lower pressure maylead to
clutchnot being able tocorrectlyshut-off the motor.

4Operation
This designof Screwdriver mayonlybe operatedin connection with the
DEPRAG-Function Controllerpc10 andfc10.
ATTENTION:
The turning bit may causeaninjurytofingers orhands.
Whenconnectingthe driver directlytoan air-supply, thedriver
will start immediately, sincethereis nointegratedvalve in the
tool!
Unless otherwise requested thedriver is preset to max. torque with the
strongest clutch spring installed on theclutch. Adjust clutch tothe required
torquevalue. If necessary, exchange clutch spring. The required torque
adjustment can be checked, using aDEPRAG TorqueWrenchor
Dynamometer (seeDEPRAG catalogs D3020 and D3022). This equipment
can alsobeused tore-adjust thetorque of the Screwdriver.
To operate theclutch, usinga clutchspring which either
surpasses orfalls belowits specifiedtorque range, leads to a
reductionof the torque accuracy.
The screwdriver starts with anexternalvalve(integrated inthecontrol).
Air flowpressureshould be90PSI.

All torquevalues are based on 90-PSI (6,3bar)airpressure. Torque values
are estimateddata which maydiffer– dependingon thetype of screwjoint.
Exchange of Clutch Spring (seePicture)
To avoid loosingindividual small parts, it is recommended
to onlydisassemble themachineon top of aflat work
surface.
1. Prior tochange of clutch spring, disconnect driver from airsupply.
2. Unscrewcompleteclutchbearing with springsleeve (accessories areop-
tionalequipment)by means of keyAF 27 (left handthread).
3. Take out completeclutch.
4. Insert torque-adjusting screwdriver intothehalf-round borein thelock
ring andturn torque-adjustingscrewdriver clockwise, untilthe adjusting
nut comes off.
5. Remove off lock ring.
6. Remove clutchspring, replace with new clutch springandreassemble
clutch.
7. Insert complete clutchinto the clutch bearing andtightenclutch bearing
to thescrewdriver.
Attention:
The male clawof the intermediate ring must engagewith the fe-
male clawof thespindle.
8. An external torque adjustmentof the clutch is again possible (seesec-
tion: TorqueAdjustment).

4.2. Torque Adjustment
To avoid a driver lockout bythe Multi-Function Controller, applythe following
adjustment method:
• input required amount of screws per part on thedigital counter(field 3) to
the value of 97.
• turnkey-switchtothe reset-positionorkeep holding thereset-button.
Whilethe driver is rotating, its functionwill be indicatedas an erroronthe
Multi-FunctionController. For thetorque-adjustment, disregard this error
indication. Thedriver is nowreadyfortorque-adjustment:
For an external torque adjustment use the following steps:
1. Disconnect driver from air supply.
2. Insert the provided torque-adjustment screwdriver 326240through the
slot onthe clutchbearing intothe oval bore-holein thelock ring (if nec-
essaryturn bit byhand).
3. Byturning thetorque-adjustment screwdriver 326240 clockwise, the
torqueis reducedand if turnedcounter-clockwise, the torque is in-
creased.

5Handling
The DEPRAG MINIMAT-F-ULTRA screwdriver can be operated in conjunction
with the multi-function controls fc10 and pc10 only. The screwdriver will be held
as shown on picture “Connection of a DEPRAG MINIMAT-F-ULTRA screw-
driver“. As soon as you push the bit slightlyon to the screw, a start signal will be
provided to the function control unit, some air will be supplied to the screwdriver
and it will start running. After reaching the preset torque, the automatic clutch will
disengage and turn off the screwdriver. The screwdriver will be readyfor the
next operation after lifting it off the screw. A faultyassemblywill cause the
screwdriver to remain locked, until the failure is acknowledged on the fc 10 con-
trol.
Although the reaction torque you will notice is rather low due to the ergonomi-
callyshaped handle and the immediate effect of the torque-out clutch, we highly
recommend to use an additional torque support, if torque is higher than 5 Nm
(such as a linear stand or lateral handle as per brochure D 3340 E).
The operating direction of reversible screwdriver models can be reversed byac-
tuating the reverse button, in order to loosen tightened screws. The reversible
screwdriver will also start operating bypushing it on to the screw. The clutch will
be locked in the reverse direction. An increased reaction torque mayoccur in the
case of screws that are hard to tighten (such as screws with defective thread).
Since in this case the clutch will not disengage when loosening the screw and
the control unit will identifythis as a failure, make sure to acknowledge this “in-
correct assembly”.
The screwdriver is equipped with a quick change chuck. After pulling the sleeve,
the bit maybe removed or inserted.
Always disconnect the Screwdriver fromair supplyprior to changing bits, to
avoid the unintentional start of the Screwdriver, which mayresult in injuries.
Make sure to use perfect bits with DIN 3126 – E6,3 (1/4”) external hexagon end
only.
ATTENTION:
Screwdriver will immediatelystart running once the bit is
pushed, and maycause severe injuries.

6Assembly- Disassembly
Disassembly: (see SpareParts Drawing)
Prior todisassembly, disconnect equipment from air
supply! Onlyexperiencedmaintenance personnel may
assembleor disassemble thisequipment.
After repair or maintenance, verifythat equipment runs tospecification!
Principally, useonly DEPRAG originalspare parts. Otherwise, a reduction
in equipment power-output and anincreasedmaintenance-requirement
occurs. If NON-DEPRAG parts areinstalled, DEPRAG is justifiedto void
anyexisting warrantyand liabilityobligations.
Attention:
Never clamp motorhousinginto avice, without theusageof the
protective chuckingjaws, sincedamage tomotor-housingand
internalparts is unavoidable.
Attention:
Motor- and gearingparts maybe damaged if dropped!
Assembly:
Use the DEPRAG Grease807293 (100-g tube) to grease the
ball bearing, needle bearing and gearing partsprior to
reassembly.
For assemblyproceed logicallyin reverseorder!

6.1. ProximitySwitch Adjustment
1. Disconnect screwdriver from airsupply.
2. Unscrewairconnection.
3. With thebit inthe screwdriver, activate thepush-to-start and
continue toholdthe screwdriver down throughout
this procedure!
4. Measuredimension„x“ bymeans of aslidingcaliper(see Picture 1)
5. Adjust thesensor-front surface todimension„x“ less 0.3mm tothe
contact surface (see Picture 2)andthan tightenit with nut.
6. Assemble air connection.

6.2. CorrectAssemblyof Shut-Off Function on Clutch
ATTENTION
If thestop-pin isinstalledincorrectly,the clutch will NOT
shut -off.
