1SafetyTips
1.1.GeneralSafetyTips
Beforeoperating tool makesureto carefullyreadand
observethisoperating instruction.
Generally, the operatorofthe equipment and/ormachineryis responsible for
the equipment’sperfectcondition andoperation,while observing all necessary
safetyregulations. The equipment and/or machineryhasbeen constructed in
accordancewiththenewestlevel oftechnologywhile recognizingall
necessarysafety-relatedrequirements.Nevertheless,while operatingthe
equipmentand/or machinerythereisariskof bodilyharmtotheoperatoras
well as damagetoequipmentand/or machineryand other property.
Operatethe equipment and/ormachineryonlyif equipment/machinery
· Isused forthe task it was designed for
· is inperfectworkingcondition andsafetouse.
Itisimportanttoobservethetechnicaldataoftheequipment,especiallyin
regards totheenvironmentaltemperatures. Thedesignated areaof useforthis
equipmentis clearlydescribedinchapter DesignatedEquipment Use and
thoserequirementshavetobe observed as well.Prerequisiteforthesafe
conductandthe uninterruptedoperationof the equipment, isthe knowledge of
the basicsafetytips andthesafetyregulations. Additionally, all current
regulationsforasafeoperationalarea,foraccident-preventionguidelinesof
electrical andmechanicalinstallations,as well as noisesuppressiondemands
mustbeobserved.During anymaintenanceor repairwork, acleanwork
surfaceis recommended.Also,itis not recommendedtoeithereatorsmoke
during repairor maintenance.Arbitrarychanges madetothe equipment, which
alters its designateduse,voidsthe warrantyand cancelsthe manufacturers
liability.
· The toolis notinsulated toprotectagainstanelectricalpower surge.
· Itisnotrecommended tousethistoolin explosivehazardous
environments,unlessit wasspecificallydesigned forsuchause.
· During the disconnection orreconnection of the toolfrom the
compressedair,aninjuryispossiblebecauseofawhipping pressure-
hose.
The operatinginstruction booklet, especiallythesafetysymbols and safetytips
attachedtotheequipment orincludedinthedocumentation, mustbeobserved
at alltimesbyall persons gettingintocontact withtheequipment.

Disconnectthetoolfromthe airsupply, when changingbits or
when re-adjustingclutch.
· Donotwear wide clothingorjewelry, fortheycan beseizedby
movable parts.Wear ahairnet ifoperator haslonghair.
· Keep handsoff theinstalledScrewdriver Spindle.
· Injuryispossible,if the driver reacts withan unexpectedmotionor when
usedwithbrokenbit orfixture.
· Whenusing toolwithbit-adapter or bit-extension (i.e. Magnetic Bitholder)
makesure,thatthoseitems areingoodcondition andwell suitedf
or forthe
applicationwiththistool.
· Donotexceed themaximumallowableairpressure.
Apressure
regulatorhastobeinstalled, whichregulates pressurebefore
reachingthe tool.
· Afterturning-offthetool,thebit will continuetorotate(inertia).
1.3.OwnerObligation
The owner isobligedtoonlyletpersons operatetheequipment,who
· are familiarwithbasicwork environmentsafetyrules andaccident-
preventing regulations.Also,thosepersons musthavebeen instructedin
the correctuseofthe equipment.

pertainingtothisequipment.

repair this equipment.Amalfunction, whichimpairs operator safety, mustbe

1.4.Operator Obligation
Personnel,who isengaged inthe operationofthe equipment,mustalways be
committed to
· observethebasicsafetyandaccident preventing regulations,
· read andobservethe safetyand warning notifications ofthisoperating
instructionbooklet.
1.5.WarrantyandLiability
Unless otherwisespecified,our “General Salesand DeliveryConditions”
apply.Warrantyand liabilityclaimsin regardstopersonsor equipment
damagesareinvalid, ifone or several ofthefollowing causesapply:
· Useoftheequipment inanon-designated application.
· Improperinstallation, operation, serviceormaintenanceofthemachine.
·
Operationofthemachine witheither defectiveor removed safetyand
protectiondevices.
· Non-
observanceofthe requirements stated in the operating instruction
booklet
,in regardstotransportation,storage,mounting,installation,
operation,maintenanceand serviceoftheequipment.
· Structural change or adjustmenton the equipmenttoanon-
designated
use.
· Inadequatesupervisionofwear parts.
· Improperrepair,inspection ormaintenance.
·
Catastrophiccasesbecauseofawar,acts ofgod or other reasonswhich
are beyond ourcontrol.

1.7.ObserveEnvironmentalRegulations
Whenworking onorwiththe equipment,itis imperativeto
observeall requirementsinregardstowaste-disposal and
proper recycling.
Especiallyduringinstallation,repairormaintenance,water
damaging agentssuchas
· lubricatinggreaseand oil
· hydraulic fluid
· coolingagents
· solvent-containingcleaningagents
mustnot leakintothe groundorintothesewage system!
Suchmaterialsmustbestored,transported,containedand
recycled insuitablecontainers.

accuratelythan anysubsequenttestingmethod.

3Installation
·
Blowout airlineandpressure hose,prior toconnection ittothetool.
· Makesure,thatall air lineshaveasufficientcross-section(see technical
data)andhosesmustbefree ofbends andkinks. The hoselengthshould
not exceed2meters.
· All DEPRAGScrewdrivers, maybe operatedeither withorwithout
lubricatedair. (seeparagraph: Maintenanceand Upkeep)Whenoperating
withoilfreeair,aperformancereductionofupto20%occursand
maintenancerequirementsincreases!
· Connect the equipment asfollows:
a) for theusewithminimal lubrication connect toafilter-regulator
consistingofFilter withcondensationreservoir andpressure regulator

OUR RECOMMENDATION: The preferred lubricatingmethod for the
screwdriver spindles mountedinfixtures,brackets,machines,etc.,eachin
connection withacontroller,ismethodb) withPoint-of-UseOiler.
· Checkpressureat directlyon the machine.The Regulatorneedstobe
adjusted toanairflowbetween 5.0(71PSI)and6.3bar(90PSI).Ahigher
pressureleadstoincreased wear andtear.Alower pressure maylead to
clutchnot being abletocorrectlyshut-offthe motor.

4Operation
Unlessotherwiserequested thedriver ispresettomax.torque withthe
strongest clutchspring.
Adjustclutchtotherequiredtorque value.If necessary, exchangeclutch
spring. Thenecessarytorque adjustmentcanbetested, usingaDEPRAG
Torque Wrenchor Dynamometer (seeDEPRAG catalogsD3020 and D
3022).Thisequipmentcanalsobe usedtore-adjust thetorque ofthe
Screwdriver Spindle.
Operatingtheclutchusing aclutchspring whichexceeds
itsallowable torque, leadstoareductionof the torque
accuracy.
The driver starts byremote-valve.
The flowpressure should notdropbelow5bar (71PSI)!
The installationandconnectionofthe Screwdriver Spindle requiresthe
following steps:
1.Adjustclutchtorequired torquesetting(see paragraph: Torque
Adjustment)
2.InstallScrewdriver spindleaccordingtopicture:„Installation Tips for
screwdriverspindle“.If several Spindles are being installed, refertothe
screwdriver arrangement onconstruction sheet(if you donot havethis
constructionsheet,pleasecall us).
3.Connectmainairhose.
4.Connectpneumaticfunctioncontrolhose.Thisfunctioncontrolisunder
pressureof2,5bar during actual screw-driving. Ifthefunction control is
notneeded, theporthastobeclosed, otherwisethereisalossof
powerofabout15%.
Pleasemakesurenottoexceed the max. driver stroke(see Installation Tips
for screwdriverspindle)during Screwdriving. The noiselevel can befurther
reduced,when an exhaust connection withconnectedFilter/Silenceris used.

Attention:
The screwdriver is equipped withareversiblemotoranda left
shut-off clutch,that meansin viewof fromtheairinletside,the
screwdriver isrunning contrarythe clockwisedirection.
For reversibletoolspleasenote:
·Left-
handdirectionofscrewdriver will be startedbyaremotevalvevia the
air connectorontopof the screwdriverand screwdriver will shutoff in this
directionatthe preset torque.
·Whenproviding airtothescrewdriver via theconnector forright-hand
direction(atonesideof the screwdriver)screwdriver will rotateat
maximumtorque. Screwdriver will startrunningimmediatelyupon
providing air tothisconnector.
·Makesuretoalways venttheairconnectorfortheoppositedirection
(otherwiseitwill result inreducedperformance).
4.1.Rangeand ExchangeofClutchSpring
The torque range oftheDEPRAG Screwdriver is adjustable.Pleaseseea

toonlydisassemblethemachineon top ofaflatwork
surface.

1.DisconnectScrewdriver fromairsupplyprior tochangingclutchsprings.
2.Unscrewclutchbearing.(left-hand thread)
3.Removecompleteclutch.
4.Inserttorque-settingscrewdriver intothe half-roundboreofthelockring
and turn screwdriverinclockwisedirection,untilthe adjustment nut
comesloose.
5.Removelock ring.
6.Removeclutchspring,replacewithrequired clutchspringand reassem-
bled inreverseorder.
7.Placeclutchintoclutchbearing and tightenclutchbearingtothe
DEPRAG Screwdriver. (left-handthread)

8.The clutchcanbeadjusted again externally(see torqueadjustment).
Makesuretoscrewadjustingnutontoclutchbearinguntilone line

4.2.TorqueAdjustment
The requiredtorqueforthedriver canbe adjusted externallyas follows:
1.DisconnectScrewdriver fromairsupply.
2.Inserttorquesettingscrewdriver through oneof the threeopeningsofthe
motor housing intothe half-roundboreofthelockring.(Ifnecessary, turn
clutchusing bit)
3.Byturning thetorque-settingscrewdriver clockwise(-),the torque isre-
ducedandbyturning it counter-clockwise(+),thetorqueisincreased.

4.3.Connection-PossibilitiesoftheFunction Control
·
Use as air pressureoutletduring screw-assembly:
- tocontroldriver start and stop,as well asshut-offcontrol ofclutch;
- ascycle counterof the completeprocess;
eachin connectionwithaPE-Switchorsimilar.
· Use as air pressureinlet:
- if 6,3bar(90PSI)air pressure isgiven tothefunctioncontrol port,
the driver starts rotatingatabout15 %ofitsspeed.Thiswill
simplifytheengagement ofbit/sockettofastener(for example
when driving hexscrews, nuts, etc.)

Function Description/Driver Start

The driver isactivated immediatelywhen airis connected.The flowrateof
the air valves must not bebelow0,6m³/min.
5Assembly-Disassembly
Disassembly: (see SpareParts Drawing)
Prior todisassembly, disconnect equipmentfromair
supply! Onlyexperiencedmaintenance personnelmay
assembleor disassemblethisequipment.
Afterrepair or maintenance,verifythat equipmentrunstospecification!
Principally, useonlyDEPRAG originalspare parts. Otherwise, areduction
in equipmentpower-output and anincreasedmaintenance-requirement
occurs. If NON-DEPRAG parts areinstalled, DEPRAGis justifiedtovoid
anyexisting warrantyand liabilityobligations.
Attention:
Motor- and gearingpartsmaybe damaged if dropped!

For disassemblyproceedin thesequencedescribedbelow:
1.Disconnectdriver fromair supply.
2.Unscrewclutchbearing together withspring sleevecomplete.
3.Removecompleteclutch.
4.Disassembleguideboltbyremoving hex. nut 826715.
5.Clampthedriver intoavice,utilizingtheflats oftheflangeand unscrew
the sleeve384494(right-hand thread).
6.Hold motorhousingusing a24-mmwrenchand usethe key462122 to
removethe valvehousing384469(right-handthread).
7.Removevalvepin.
8.Clampmountingtube 460566intoviceand usethe provided arborto
pushthemotor- andgearpartsout ofthe motorhousingindirection of
the air inlet.Anyother suitable arbormaybe usedtocarefullypushthe
motor- and gearingparts outofthe motor housing.
Assembly:
Use theDEPRAGGrease807293(100-gtube) togreasethe
ballbearing, needlebearing and gearing partsprior to
reassembly.
Reassemblyoccurslogicallyin reverseorder.
