1 Overview
The SEBB-6/ 4 is a supervised 4 Volt charging and monitoring system, with an
LCD display, used with the SYSTEM 3505 and emergency battery backup.
Its features include:
A 4 volt charger with a switch selection of or 4 amp/hour charge rate, for a
sealed lead acid battery system. Charger selection switch should always be in the 4
amp/hour position.
An AC voltage switch to select between a 115 VAC, or a 30 VAC, 50/60 Hz. AC
Supervised. Max Input Current is 58 mA.
A supervised link with the SYSTEM 3505.
The SEBB-6/ 4 Mounts into any standard 19” rack, with a panel height of 3.5
inches.
2 Installation

PRECAUTIONS
CAUTION! : Do not touch internal circuitry during installation since
static discharge may damage components. If access to the interior of the
unit is required, follow the standard precautions set for handling CMOS
circuitry.

UNPACKING AND INSPECTION
Before opening, inspect the shipping container for unusual damage. Then
unpack the contents and inspect for scratches, dents, or loose internal
components. If your inspection reveals any physical damage, retain the
packing material and contact the carrier immediately. Each unit has been
thoroughly inspected prior to shipment.

SEBB-6/ 4 CONTENTS
1. The charger (power cord is included with the charger).
. One 6 foot length of wires with quick connects ends for battery hook up and
Molex position terminal block, for the back of the SEBB-6/ 4.
3. One 6 foot length of wire with, a Molex position terminal block for the
back of the SEBB-6/ 4 and with stripped ends, to attach to the Molex
position terminal block, located on the back of the SYSTEM 3505.
4. One 1 inch length of blue wire with quick connects ends.
5. Four installation washers (to protect the membrane panel when it is
installed on the rack).
6. One 6 foot phone cable.

.5 SEBB-6/ 4 to BATTERY SETUP
To connect the SEBB-6/ 4 to the batteries, use the 6 foot red and black cable
with the quick connects end. The Molex position end is attached to the
SEBB-6/ 4 port marked “TO 4 VOLT SEALED LEAD ACID
BATTERIES”.
Connect the AMP QUICK CONNECT ends to the two backup batteries, the
red wire to the positive(+) side of the first battery and the black wire to the
negative(-) side of the second battery. The neutral 1 inch blue wire, is used to
connect the two batteries together. Refer to DWG .
NOTE: If there is a charge on the batteries, this will activate the SEBB-6/ 4,
and the display will show “DISCHARGING”. This will not harm the
system and installation can continue.

Select the quick charge rate, for the type of batteries being used. The charge
rate is always set to the 4 amp rapid charge for the 8 amp/hour or larger
capacity batteries. See DWG 3.

.6 SEBB-6/ 4 to SYSTEM 3505 SETUP
The SEBB-6/ 4 is connected to the SYSTEM 3505 using the 6 foot red and
black cable, with one end stripped. This cable will provide power to the
SYSTEM 3505 during a power failure. To connect the SEBB-6/ 4 to the
SYSTEM 3505 unit, screw the Molex position connector into the back of the
SEBB-6/ 4, the stripped ends are then attached to the terminal block located on
the rear panel of the 3505 unit. Refer to DWG 4.

Remove the Molex position connector from the terminal block of the
SYSTEM 3505. Secure the red wire to the positive (+) side of the terminal and
the black wire to the negative (-) side of the terminal. Reattach the Molex
position connector to the terminal block, on the back of the SYSTEM 3505.

.7 SYSTEM 3505 OPTION SETUP.
To set your SYSTEM 3505 4V battery supervisor option,
Enter “ 0”, press the SET button on the 3505 and the display will read:

Press CLE R to BORT or EXIT SETUP
Press the FUNC button to bring up the password display:

Enter the proper password to continue with this option, type in the system

Change the value to Y in the “NEEDS TO BE SUPERVISED”. The second
line will automatically change value to N. Press the CLEAR key to save
changes and return to main set menu.
3 SEBB-6/24 POWER UP and TROUBLE
STATUS
3.1 SEBB-6/ 4 System Power
The power supplied to the SEBB-6/ 4 comes from an AC power source.
Before applying AC power to the SEBB-6/ 4, select the AC voltage type, ether
115V or 30V, with the voltage switch located on the back of the unit. The
SEBB-6/ 4 is shipped with the volts switch in the 115V position.
Attach the AC power cord to the SEBB-6/ 4 and plug the AC cord into a
power outlet. The SEBB-6/ 4 screen will light up and the following
information will display:

The SEBB-6/ 4 will check for batteries. Once the unit sees the batteries, it
will start recharging them with a TRICKLE CHARGE, then RAPID CHARGE
and finally FULLY CHARGE. For a set of batteries which are already
charged, or are slightly charged, the SEBB-6/ 4 will begin to RAPID
CHARGE the batteries.

If the batteries are not hooked up to the SEBB-6/ 4 during power up, or not
connected to each other, then the screen will display the following.
If the unit is displaying this message, check the connection between the two
batteries and between the batteries and the SEBB-6/ 4. If the connections are
secure, then test the batteries and replace any bad batteries with new ones.
Should the SYSTEM 3505 lose the connection to the SEBB-6/ 4, or should the
connection to the batteries be disconnected, or if the batteries should go bad,
then the SYSTEM 3505 will display the following trouble alarm:

If this alarm appears, check the cable between the two units and perform the
battery check, as described under the SEBB-6/ 4 “CHK OPEN BATTERY”.
Once the link between the two units is reestablished, the SYSTEM 3505 will
display a RESTORE alarm.
If there is an AC power failure, the SYSTEM 3505 will display the following
TROUBLE alarm:
C power failure at
SYSTEM 3500/3000 or 3505
now in a TROUBLE state
at this location
Once the AC power has been restored, the SYSTEM 3505 will display a
RESTORE alarm and the SEBB-6/ 4 will begin to RAPID CHARGE the
backup batteries.

WARRANTY
IMPORTANT NOTICE: DIGITIZE, INC. products should be tested every month
(under no circumstances less than every three months) to insure complete and proper
operation and proper input and output connections.
STATEMENT OF LIMITED WARRANTY
Digitize, Inc. ("Digitize") warrants to its distributors, systems houses, end users, and
OEMs ("Buyer"), that products manufactured by Digitize are free from defects in
materials and workmanship. Digitize’s obligations under this warranty are limited to
repairing or replacing, at Digitize’s option, the part or parts of the products which prove
defective in material or workmanship for 1 months within 15 months after shipment by
Digitize. Buyer must pass along to its initial customer or user ("Customer") a minimum
of 1 months’ coverage within the 15-month warranty period, provided the Buyer gives
Digitize prompt notice of any defect and satisfactory proof thereof. Products may be
returned by Buyer only after a Return Material Authorization number ("RMA") has been
obtained from Digitize by telephone or in writing. Buyer will prepay all freight charges
to return any products to the repair facility designated by Digitize and include the RMA
number on the shipping container. Digitize will, at its option, either repair the defective
products or parts or deliver replacements for defective products or parts on an exchange
basis to Buyer, freight prepaid to the Buyer. Products returned to Digitize under this
warranty will become the property of Digitize. With respect to any products or art
thereof not manufactured by Digitize, only the warranty, if any, given by the
manufacturer thereof, applies.
EXCLUSIONS
This limited warranty does not cover losses or damage which occurs in shipment to
or from Buyer, or are due to, (1) improper installation or maintenance, misuse, neglect, or
any cause other than ordinary commercial or industrial application, or ( ) adjustment,
repair, or modifications by other than Digitize-authorized personnel, or (3) improper
environment, excessive or inadequate heating or air conditioning and electrical power
failures, surges, or other irregularities, or (4) any statements made about Digitize’s
products by salesmen, dealers, distributors or agents, unless confirmed in writing by a
Digitize officer. If the firmware or hardware is altered or modified by the Buyer, this
firmware and hardware is not covered within this limited warranty and the Buyer bears
sole responsibility and liability for that firmware and hardware.
THE FOREGOING DIGITIZE LIMITED WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER ORAL, WRITTEN, EXPRESSED,
IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE DO
NO APPLY. DIGITIZE’S WARRANTY OBLIGATIONS AND
DISTRIBUTOR’S REMEDIES HEREUNDER ARE SOLELY AND
EXCLUSIVELY AS STATED HEREIN. DIGITIZE’S LIABILITY,
WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, WARRANTY, STRICT
LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, SHALL NOT EXCEED THE PRICE
OF THE INDIVIDUAL UNIT WHOSE DEFECT OR DAMAGE IS THE
BASIS OF THE CLAIM. IN NO EVENT SHALL DIGITIZE BE LIABLE FOR
ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF USE OF FACILITIES OR EQUIPMENT,
OR OTHER INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
