Section 1: Operating Instructions
NOTE: Always disengage PTO before raising flail mower in transport position.
1. When raising the flail mower to transport position, ensure that the PTO shaft does
not come into contact with the tractor or flail mower. Adjust and set the tractor's 3-
point suspension lift height so that the axle does not come into contact with the
mower in the raised position.
2. Be sure to reduce the tractor's speed when turning, leave enough space so that the
flail mower does not come into contact with obstacles such as buildings, trees or
fences.
3. Maintain a safe driving speed when transporting. When driving on roads, make
sure that faster moving vehicles can pass safely.
4. When driving over uneven or hilly terrain, shift the tractor to a lower gear.
CAUTION When driving on public roads, whether night or day, use lights and
adequate warning to other vehicles. Comply with all federal, state and local laws.
Cutting instructions:
1. Remove objects that may come into contact with the flail mower's blades.
2. Grass is best cut when it is dry. Cutting wet grass can cause clogging, resulting in
clumps of grass behind the flail mower.
3. Grass must be cut often.
4. When mowing extremely tall grass, it is best to raise the mowing height and then mow it
an extra time at a lower mowing height.
Operating instructions:
Proper maintenance and adjustments are the key to a long machine life. With careful and
systematic inspection of the flail mower, expensive maintenance, time and repairs can be
avoided.
Before you start mowing, the following inspections must be carried out:
1. Check the oil level in the gearbox.
2. Check that all connectors in the gearbox have been replaced and tightened correctly.
3. Check that all flail mower blades, bolts and nuts are tight.
4. Be sure all guards and shields are in place and secure.
5. Lubricate the PTO shaft and all other grease nipples.
6. Clear the area to be mowed of stones, branches and other foreign materials.
7. Lower the flail mower to the ground. Set tractor throttle at approx. 1/4 open. Engage
the PTO so the blades rotate.
8. Operate with 540 rpm PTO tractor.
9. When you first start mowing, do so at a slow driving speed and slowly increase
gears until the desired speed is reached - Max. 540 PTO revolutions.
10. The flail mower blades will cut better with a faster blade speed than at reduced
throttle.

11
11. After mowing the first 50 meters, stop and check that the flail mower is adjusted
correctly.
12. Do not make sharp turns while the mower is on the ground.
13. Do not engage the PTO with the mower in the raised position.
Section 2: Adjustments
Leveling the flail mower:
NOTE: Tractor and flail mower must be level.
Leveling can be adjusted on the tractor's 3-point arms and center link.
Adjusting the cutting height:
The cutting height of the flail mower depends on the position of the rear roller.
1. Remove the bolts holding the roller on both sides.
2. Raise or lower both sides of the roll in equal measurements.
3. Replace bolts and tighten.
3-point suspension Adjustments:
CAUTION, Engage the parking brake, turn off the tractor, remove the key and
engage the PTO before adjusting the height!
Belt tension. CAUTION, Belt drive system under spring tension; Use caution to avoid
personal injury!
The belt tension must be checked after the first 20 hours of use. And then after every 40
hours of use.
1. Tension on the belt can be adjusted with the belt tension bolt. Turn the bolt until the
desired tension is achieved. When the belt is at the correct tension, the gearbox should be
adjusted so that the extension of the gearbox runs straight (parallel) with the flail mower.
Loosen the bolts at the bottom of the gearbox and move the gearbox until the gearbox
extension runs straight.
2. Excessive belt tension can lead to premature failure of the belt and drive components.
CAUTION Excessive belt tension can lead to premature failure of the drive
components. Excessive belt tension can also lead to injury to the user or bystanders.
