DISPLAYCONTRAST
Thesensitivity menu lets youcontroltheunit's
ability
topickupech-
oes. Alow
sensitivity level excludes much ofthebottom
information,
fishsignals, and otherdetail. High sensitivity settings
lets yousee
features, butitcanalsoclutterthescreen withnoiseandotherun-
wanted
signals. Typically, thebest
sensitivity levelshowsagood,
solidbottom signal withgrayline.
TheMagna adiusts
the
sensitivity level tokeepasolid bottom
signal
onthe
screen. Itaddsalittleextrawhenit'sintheautomatic mode.
Thisgivesitthecapability toshowfishandotherdetail. However,
situations
occurwhereitbecomes necessary toincrease ordecrease
the
sensitivity level. Typically,
thisoccurswhen
youwishtosee more
detail,
soyou needtoincrease thesensitivity. Theprocedure toadjust
itisthesamewhethertheunitisintheautomatic ormanual mode.
Tochange thesensitivity level, firstpress
themenu keyuntilthesensitivity menu
appears. Iftheunitisinautomatic,the
menushows"AUTOSENS." Otherwise,
themenu shows"MANSENS." Now
press theuparrow keytoincrease the
sensitivity,thedownarrowtodecrease it.
A
verticalbargraphinthemenu box
shows thesensitivity level. Echoes
scrolling ontothescreenwillalso showthe
effectsofthe
sensitivity change. If
you
reachthemaximum orminimum sensitivity
level, atonesounds alerting you
tothe
limits.
Afteryou'veadjusted theunittothedesired sensitivity level, press the
ON/CLEAR keytoclearthedisplay. Ifyouwaita
fewseconds, itwill
automatically clear.
GRAYLINE°
Theunit's
display
contrastis
adjustable tosuitdifferent
lighting condi-
tions. Thiswill help youseethescreenfromdifferent
angles,
orat
varioustimes
ofthe
day.
Grayline lets youdistinguish between strong
andweakechoes. It
"paints"gray
ontargets
that are stronger
thanapreset
level. This
showsthedifference
betweenahardorsoftbottom, large
fishversus
smaller
ones, orrocksandbrushonthebottom. For
example, a
soft,
muddy, orweedy bottomreturns aweaker
signalwhichshows a
