This manual gives a general explanation o the tasks o device planning, parameter setting, installation, commissioning,
operation, and maintenance o the Eaton devices.
The manual serves as re erence document or:
Engineers in the protection ield;
Commissioning engineers;
Personnel dealing with the setting, testing, and maintenance o protection and control devices; and
Well trained personnel involved in electrical installations and power stations.
All unctions concerning the type code will be de ined. Should there be a description o any unctions, parameters, or
inputs/outputs that do not apply to the device in use, please ignore that in ormation.

observations.

Read this entire manual and all other publications pertaining to the work to be
per ormed be ore installing, operating, or servicing this equipment. Practice all
plant and sa ety instructions and precautions. Failure to ollow the instructions

PROPER USE
Any unauthorized modifications to or use of this equi ment outside its
s ecified mechanical, electrical, or other o erating limits may cause
ersonal injury and/or ro erty damage, including damage to the

The rogrammable devices subject to this manual are designed for
rotection and also control of ower installations and o erational devices
that are fed by voltage sources with a fixed frequency, i.e. fixed at 50 or 60
Hertz. They are not intended for use with Variable Frequency Drives. The
devices are further designed for installation in low voltage (LV)
com artments of medium voltage (MV) switchgear anels or in de-
centralized rotection anels. The rogramming and settings have to meet
all requirements of the rotection conce t (of the equi ment that is to be
rotected). The User must ensure that the device will ro erly recognize
and manage (e.g.: switch off the circuit breaker) on the basis of User
selected rogramming and settings all o erational conditions (failures).
Before starting any o eration and after any modification of the
rogramming/settings, make a documented roof that the rogramming
and settings meet the requirements of the rotection conce t.

ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE AWARENESS
All electronic equi ment is sensitive to electrostatic discharge, some
com onents more than others. To rotect these com onents from
electrostatic damage, the User must take s ecial recautions to minimize or
eliminate electrostatic discharges.
Follow these recautions when working with or near the device.
1. Before erforming maintenance on the electronic device, discharge
the static electricity on your body to ground by touching and holding a
grounded metal object ( i es, cabinets, equi ment, etc.).
2. Avoid the build-u of static electricity on your body by not wearing
clothing made of synthetic materials. Wear cotton or cotton-blend
materials as much as ossible because these do not store static
electric charges as much as synthetics.
3. Kee lastic, vinyl, and Styrofoam materials (such as lastic or
Styrofoam cu s, cu holders, cigarette ackages, cello hane
wra ers, vinyl books or folders, lastic bottles, and lastic ash trays)
away from the device, the modules, and the work area as much as
ossible.
4. Do not remove any rinted circuit board (PCB) from the device cabinet
unless absolutely necessary. If you must remove the PCB from the
device cabinet, follow these recautions:
Do not touch any art of the PCB exce t the edges.
Do not touch the electrical conductors, the connectors, or the
com onents with conductive devices or with your hands.
When re lacing a PCB, kee the new PCB in the lastic, anti-static
rotective bag it comes in until you are ready to install the PCB.
Immediately after removing the old PCB from the device cabinet,
lace it in the anti-static rotective bag.

What Is Included with the Device
The device package includes all connection terminals, except communication connectors, but does not include the
astening material. Please check the package or completeness upon delivery.
Device Package Contents:
1 – Protective Relay;
1 – Mount (Standard or Projection);
1 – Quick Start Guide; and
2 – CDs
Disk 1 - Contains the User's Manual, Modbus Register Maps, IEC 61850 Communication
Documentation, Wiring Diagrams, and Device Model (Template) or O -line Parameter Setting;
Disk 2 - Contains PowerPort-E and Quality Manager so tware applications.
Disk1 contains the device templates. The device templates MUST BE installed
to allow PowerPort-E to con igure a device o -line.
Please make sure the product label, wiring diagram, type code, and materials and description pertain to this device. I
you have any doubts, please contact Eaton Corporation's Customer Service Department.
Storage
The devices must not be stored outdoors. I stored, it must be stored in an area with temperature and humidity control
(see the Technical Data section contained in this manual).

In line with the customer’s requirement, the devices are combined in a modular
way (in compliance with the order code). The terminal assignment o the
device can be ound on the top o the device (wiring diagram). In addition, it
can be ound within the Appendix o this manual (see Wiring Diagrams).
