Introductie
Met de Xanura afstandsbediening kunt u naast de Xanura installatie
nagenoeg alle audio en video apparatuur bedienen. De afstands-
bediening vervangt zes bestaande afstandsbedieningen zodat u nog
maar één afstandsbediening nodig heeft voor het bedienen van al
uw apparatuur. Daarnaast heeft deze afstandsbediening de moge-
lijkheid om apparaten en verlichting waar ook in huis op afstand te
bedienen wanneer deze aangesloten zijn op Xanura Modules. U
kunt met de optionele Mouse Remote Receiver zelfs uw PC
besturen. Naast al deze mogelijkheden is de afstandsbediening een
eenvoudig te gebruiken universele afstandsbediening. Hij is in de
fabriek voorgeprogrammeerd voor de meeste merken en modellen
apparatuur. Na het ingeven van de code voor uw apparatuur is de
afstandsbediening klaar voor gebruik. Als u commando’s wilt
toevoegen dan kan dat. De afstandsbediening is in staat om
commando’s in te leren van bijna iedere infrarood afstandsbediening.
Het installeren van de batterijen
1. Verwijder het klepje van het batterijvak aan de achterzijde van de
afstandsbediening.
2. Installeer vier AAA batterijen. Let daarbij op de + en - tekens in
het batterijvak.
Het programmeren van uw Xanura afstandsbediening
Beschrijving van de toetsen
1 Indicatielampje (LED)
Het indicatielampje is aan wanneer de afstandsbediening actief is.
2 Power
Werkt op dezelfde wijze als uw originele afstandsbediening. Wordt
ook gebruikt om een ”All Lights On” commando te genereren.
3 Setup
Wordt gebruikt om de apparaatcode voor uw TV, Video of ander
apparaat in te geven.
4 Learn
Laat u codes inleren van een bestaande afstandsbediening, die niet
in de afstandsbediening bibliotheek aanwezig zijn.
5 VCR, TV, SAT, DVD, CBL, CD
Functietoetsen voor het kiezen van het apparaat wat u wilt
bedienen CBL = decoder, VCR = video.
6PC
Met een Mouse Remote Receiver kunt u met uw afstands-
bediening ook MP3, DVD en CD functies van uw PC bedienen.

7 SHIFT
Extra toegevoegde functies bij voorgeprogrammeerde codes. Er
kunnen functies op uw originele afstandsbediening zitten, welke
niet aanwezig zijn op het toetsenbord van de Xanura afstands-
bediening. Dit betekent echter niet dat deze niet beschikbaar zijn.
Het is mogelijk dat de functies beschikbaar zijn via de SHIFT toets.
Wanneer u een functie mist, druk dan één keer op de SHIFT toets,
en zoek de functie door op de toetsen te drukken. In de Shift
functie is de LED continu aan. Om de Shift functie te beëindigen
drukt u nogmaals op de Shift toets. De SHIFT toets kan ook
worden gebruikt om een nieuwe functie onder dezelfde toets in te
leren.
8 Showview / V+
Met deze toets kunt u de ShowView of VideoPlus functie van uw
videorecorder gebruiken (mits uw videorecorder deze functie
ondersteunt). Wanneer uw video deze functie niet heeft, dan kan
de toets toegang geven tot de timer functie of het menu van de
videorecorder. Wanneer de Showview / V+ toets wordt gebruikt in
andere modes dan de VCR mode (TV, CBL, SAT, CD), dan wordt de
toets vaak gebruikt voor de Scan functie. Hiermee kunt u b.v. in de
TV mode automatisch zappen tussen de zenders of bij een CD
luisteren naar het intro van de nummers. De toets zorgt ervoor dat
elke 3 seconden een kanaal of nummer opgeschakeld wordt. U
stopt de Scan functie door het indrukken van een willekeurige
toets. De Scan functie stopt automatisch na 2 minuten.
9 Xanura knop
Voor het bedienen van Xanura Modules om lampen en apparaten in
en om huis op afstand te bedienen.
0 - 9
Zelfde functie als op uw originele afstandsbediening, en voor het
ingeven van de apparaatcode.
10 A · B
Wordt gebruikt voor wissel functies (voorgeprogrammeerde codes).
11 Ent (Enter)
Wordt gebruikt in samenwerking met de numerieke toetsen voor
direct kiezen van kanalen. Wordt bij programmeren gebruikt voor
bevestiging.
12 Info
Werkt op dezelfde wijze als uw originele afstandsbediening.
13 Channel
Zelfde functie als op uw originele afstandsbediening. Ook gebruikt
om Xanura Modules aan en uit te schakelen.

14 OK / Mute
Zelfde functie als op uw originele afstandsbediening. Ook gebruikt
om ”All Units Off” commando te genereren.
15 Volume
Zelfde functie als op uw originele afstandsbediening. Ook gebruikt
om lampen te dimmen die op Xanura dimactoren aangesloten zijn.
16 M1, M2
Macro toetsen. Met deze toetsen kunt u met een druk op de toets
een serie vooraf gekozen commando’s uitvoeren.
17 L1, L2:
Extra toetsen voor het inleren van functies van uw originele
afstandsbediening.
18 Teletekst HOLD
Zet de huidige pagina vast.
19 Teletekst MIX
Mixt de tekst met het TV programma op de achtergrond.
20 Play, FF, Stop, Rew, Pause
Werkt op dezelfde wijze als uw originele afstandsbediening.
Werken ook als Teletekst kleurentoetsen.
21 Teletekst AAN
22 REC
Opname toets. Werkt op dezelfde wijze als uw originele afstands-
bediening van de Video. U moet de REC toets twee maal indrukken
om het opnemen te laten starten.
23 Teletekst UIT
Wissen van het geheugen (aanbevolen voordat u de start met
instellen van uw afstandsbediening):
1. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft.
Laat de SETUP toets los.
2. Druk twee maal op de LEARN toets.
3. Druk op de SETUP toets. De LED gaat na een paar seconden uit.
4. Het geheugen van de afstandsbediening is nu gewist.
Uw huis besturen door het gebruik van Xanura Modules
De Xanura afstandsbediening geeft u de mogelijkheid om praktisch
alles wat elektrisch is te besturen. Naast de IR technologie
waarmee u uw TV, Video, etc. bedient heeft deze
afstandsbediening Xanura HF technologie die het mogelijk maakt
verlichting en apparaten, waar dan ook in huis, op afstand te
bedienen.
Er zijn talloze toepassingen denkbaar wanneer u de Xanura

technologie van uw afstandsbediening gebruikt. We noemen er
een paar:
• Verlichting uit- of aanschakelen en dimmen terwijl u TV zit te kijken
• Het koffiezetapparaat aanzetten vanuit uw slaapkamer wanneer u
wakker wordt
• ‘s Nachts uw verlichting aanschakelen om indringers af te
schrikken wanneer u geluiden hoort
• Uw elektrische deken inschakelen voordat de film eindigt, zodat
u na de film in een warm bed kunt kruipen.
Om uw verlichting en apparaten te kunnen besturen heeft u de
volgende Xanura Modules nodig:
• Modules die achter de wandcontactdoos moeten worden
geplaatst.
• Modules die in de wandcontactdoos moeten worden gestoken.
Aansturen van Xanura Modules
U bedient de Xanura Modules op de volgende wijze:
1. Druk op de Xanura toets [geel huisje].
2. Gebruik de numerieke toetsen om de cijfercode van de Module
van uw keuze in te geven (ééncijferige codes hoeven niet vooraf
te worden gegaan door een ‘0’).
3. Gebruik de toets van de functie die u wilt uitvoeren (zie
onderstaand overzicht).

De lettercode veranderen
De Xanura afstandsbediening is standaard ingesteld op lettercode A.
In de meeste gevallen hoeft u dit niet te wijzigen,
tenzij u invloed ondervindt van een naburig Xanura systeem.
1. Druk op de toets met het huisje (Xanuraknop).
2. Druk op SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
3. Gebruik de numerieke toetsen om het nummer gelijk aan de
gekozen lettercode (1 = A, 2 = B, ...... 16 = P).
4. Druk op de ENTER toets om de lettercode te bevestigen. De
LED gaat uit.
Opmerking: De lettercode die u heeft gekozen moet overeen-
stemmen met de lettercode van de Xanura RF-interface die u
gebruikt.

De afstandsbediening instellen voor TV, Video, Decoder, CD,
DVD en Satellietontvanger
1. Zet het apparaat aan wat u wilt gaan bedienen (TV, Video, CD etc.).
2. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
3. Druk op de functietoets welke overeen komt met het type
apparaat wat u wilt gaan bedienen (TV, Video, CD etc.).
4. Geef de 3 cijferige code uit de code Bibliotheek in. De LED gaat
uit na het ingeven van het derde cijfer.
5. Richt de afstandsbediening op het apparaat en druk op de
POWER toets. Uw apparaat zou nu uit moeten gaan.
6. Zet uw apparaat aan en druk op CHANNEL+. Wanneer het
apparaat reageert, dan is de installatie voltooid. Wanneer
sommige toetsen niet werken, dan dient u de andere codes uit
de code bibliotheek voor uw merk te proberen.
Opmerkingen:
• Voor TV dient u de toets TV te gebruiken. Voor de andere
apparatuur uit de codebibliotheek kunt u zelf kiezen of u de
VCR, SAT, DVD, CBL of CD toets gebruikt. Hierdoor kunt u de
afstandsbediening ook gebruiken voor b.v. twee Satelliet-
ontvangers. De eerste programmeert u dan onder SAT en de
tweede b.v. onder CBL of DVD.
• Wanneer uw TV, Video of Satellietontvanger niet reageert,
probeer dan de andere codes voor uw merk. Wanneer dit ook
niet werkt probeer dan de ‘Zoeken naar codes’ methode.
• Wanneer de LED snel knippert wanneer u de code ingeeft, dan
kan het zijn dat u een ongeldige code gebruikt. Zoek de code
opnieuw op in de lijst, en probeer het opnieuw.
• Codelijsten voor de ABX1 kunt u vinden op onze website
www.xanura.nl.
Handmatig zoeken naar codes
Om het juiste deel uit de code bibliotheek te
selecteren voor het handmatig of automatisch
zoeken naar codes, dient u altijd eerst een code te
kiezen uit de codelijst welke bestemd is voor het type
apparaat wat u zoekt (b.v. code uit lijst VCR voor
video, lijst Sat voor satellietontvangers, etc.).
Bijvoorbeeld om te zoeken naar een VCR code:
1. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de
SETUP toets los.
2. Druk op de functietoets (VCR, CBL, etc.) welke u wilt
gaan gebruiken voor het bedienen van uw videorecorder.
3. Geef een willekeurig gekozen 3 cijferige VCR code in. De
LED gaat uit na het ingeven van het derde cijfer.
4. U kunt nu gebruik maken van de methodes onder
handmatig of automatisch zoeken naar codes voor deze
functietoets.

Wanneer u uw apparaat niet in de codelijst kunt vinden, of uw
apparaat reageert niet op de door u ingegeven codes, dan kunt u
proberen om de Xanura afstandsbediening voor uw apparaat in te
stellen door het automatisch zoeken naar de juiste code:
1. Zet de apparatuur aan die u wilt gaan bedienen.
2. Druk op SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
3. Druk op de functietoets (TV, VCR, etc.) welke overeenkomt met
het type apparaat wat u wilt gaan bedienen. De LED knippert
éénmalig.
4. Druk telkens op CHANNEL+ totdat het apparaat wat u wilt
bedienen van zender wisselt. Wanneer u per ongeluk een stap te
ver gaat, dan kunt u stappen terug gaan door op REW te drukken.
5. Druk op de ENTER toets om de installatie te voltooien.
NB: Het kan zijn dat u CHANNEL+ vaak in moet drukken (50+).
Wanneer uw apparaat geen kanaal+, kanaal- functie heeft, dan
gebruikt u voor een video de PLAY toets en bij andere apparaten de
POWER toets.
Automatisch zoeken naar codes
Om het juiste deel uit de code bibliotheek te
selecteren voor het handmatig of automatisch
zoeken naar codes, dient u altijd eerst een code te
kiezen uit de codelijst welke bestemd is voor het type
apparaat wat u zoekt (b.v. code uit lijst VCR voor
video, lijst Sat voor satellietontvangers, etc.).
Bijvoorbeeld om te zoeken naar een VCR code:
1. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de
SETUP toets los.
2. Druk op de functietoets (VCR, CBL, etc.) welke u wilt
gaan gebruiken voor het bedienen van uw videorecorder.
3. Geef een willekeurig gekozen 3 cijferige VCR code in.
De LED gaat uit na het ingeven van het derde cijfer.
4. U kunt nu gebruik maken van de methodes onder
handmatig of automatisch zoeken naar codes voor deze
functietoets.
U kunt bij het zoeken naar codes de afstandsbediening automatisch
door de code bibliotheek laten lopen. Wanneer uw apparaat
reageert kunt u de zoekfunctie stoppen en de gevonden code
opslaan.
1. Zet de apparatuur aan die u wilt gaan bedienen.
2. Druk op SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
3. Druk op de functietoets (TV, VCR, etc.) welke overeenkomt met
het type apparaat dat u wilt gaan bedienen. De LED knippert
eenmalig.

4. Druk één keer op CHANNEL+. Na enkele seconden gaat de
afstandsbediening zelf door de code bibliotheek lopen (snel
zoeken). Wanneer het apparaat dat u wilt bedienen op de
afstandsbediening reageert, drukt u op CHANNEL- om over te
schakelen naar langzaam zoeken. U kunt eventueel handmatig
een aantal codes terugstappen door meerdere malen op
CHANNEL- te drukken (wanneer u te ver terug stapt, kunt u
weer omhoog schakelen met CHANNEL+). Op het moment dat
uw apparaat nu weer op de afstandsbediening reageert, drukt op
de ENTER toets om de installatie te voltooien.
Identificatie van de gevonden codes
1. Druk op SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
2. Druk op de functietoets van het apparaat waarvan u de code wilt
identificeren (TV, VCR, etc.). De LED knippert eenmalig.
3. Druk op SETUP. De LED knippert eenmalig.
4. Om het eerste cijfer te vinden drukt u op de toetsen 0 tot 9
totdat de LED knippert. Het nummer wat u het laatst ingedrukt
heeft is het eerste cijfer van de code.
5. Druk op de toetsen van 0 tot 9 zoals boven beschreven om het
tweede cijfer te vinden.
6. Druk op de toetsen van 0 tot 9 om het derde cijfer te vinden.
Wanneer het derde cijfer gevonden is, gaat de LED uit. U kunt
de gevonden code op het daarvoor bestemde etiket van de
afstandsbediening schrijven (batterijvakje).
Inleren
Uw Xanura afstandsbediening heeft de codes van de meeste TV’s,
Video’s etc. in zijn code bibliotheek. Wanneer echter een bepaald
apparaat niet in deze bibliotheek voorkomt, dan kunt u de codes
inleren van uw bestaande afstandsbediening. Het kan ook zijn dat u
een code vindt welke nagenoeg overeenkomt met de functionaliteit
van uw apparaat, maar waarbij een paar toetsen ontbreken. Deze
toetsen kunt u dan eenvoudig inleren.
Het inleren van commando’s
1. Richt uw bestaande afstandsbediening op de Xanura
afstandsbediening (voorkant naar voorkant) met een afstand van
ongeveer 2,5 centimeter tussen de afstandsbedieningen.
2. Druk op SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
3. Druk op de functietoets (TV, CD, SAT, etc.) welke overeenkomt
met het apparaat wat u wilt inleren. De LED knippert eenmalig.
4. Druk op de LEARN toets. De LED knippert eenmalig.
5. Druk op de toets op de Xanura afstandsbediening waaronder u
een nieuw commando wilt inleren. De LED knippert eenmalig
(druk eerst op SHIFT wanneer u een Shifted functie wilt
gebruiken).
6. Afhankelijk van het type originele afstandsbediening welke u

heeft zijn twee methodes mogelijk:
a. Druk op de toets van uw bestaande afstandsbediening welke u
wilt inleren. Houd de toets van uw originele afstandsbediening
ingedrukt totdat de LED op de Xanura afstandsbediening kort uit
gaat.
Wanneer de LED niet kort uitgaat maar knippert dient u bij uw af-
standsbediening methode b toe te passen
(n.b. als u net methode
a heeft geprobeerd en u wilt nu methode b proberen ga dan
eerst verder met stap 5).
b.
Druk op de toets van uw bestaande afstandsbediening welke u
wilt inleren. Houdt de toets van uw originele afstandbediening
net zo lang ingedrukt als u dit bij de normale bediening van uw
apparatuur zou doen.
7. Herhaal stap 5 en 6 voor elke toets die u wilt inleren.
8. Wanneer u klaar bent met het inleren van de toetsen, drukt u
op ENTER.
Wissen van ingeleerde commando’s om geheugenruimte vrij te maken
U kunt de opgeslagen ingeleerde commando’s voor elke functie
apart wissen (TV, VCR, etc.):
1. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
2. Druk op de functietoets van uw keuze (TV, VCR, etc.). De LED
knippert eenmalig.
3. Druk twee maal op de LEARN toets.
4. Druk op SETUP. De LED gaat na een paar seconden uit.
5. Alle opgeslagen ingeleerde commando’s van de door u gekozen
functies zijn nu gewist.
Opmerkingen bij het inleren
• Zorg ervoor dat u in beide afstandsbedieningen volle batterijen
gebruikt, voordat u start met inleren.
• Let erop dat u de afstandsbedieningen niet beweegt bij het
indrukken van de toetsen.
• Er kunnen geen commando’s geleerd worden onder de Learn,
Setup, TV, VCR, CBL, SAT, CD, PC, M1, M2, ShowView/V+,
Xanura toetsen, of direct onder de SHIFT toets.
• Experimenteer door in eerste instantie 2 of 3 toetsen in te leren
(om compatibiliteit te testen) alvorens het volledige toetsenbord
van uw originele afstandsbediening in te leren.
• Wanneer het geheugen vol is, dan zal de LED gedurende 3
seconden knipperen. Het is nu niet mogelijk om extra toetsen in
te leren. U kunt eventueel teveel opgeslagen toetsen per mode
wissen door wissen van ingeleerde commando’s.
• Door de toetsen van de bestaande afstandsbediening minder
lang in te drukken tijdens het leren blijft er meer geheugenruimte

beschikbaar in de Holec afstandsbediening. Bovendien is de kans
op foutief geleerde codes hierdoor kleiner.
• Experimenteer met de afstand tussen de afstandsbedieningen
wanneer u problemen heeft bij het inleren.
• Bij sommige afstandsbedieningen zit de LED niet in het midden.
Probeer dan te experimenteren met het zijdelings verschuiven
t.o.v. elkaar.
• Zorg ervoor dat u niet direct onder een TL buis of in direct
invallend zonlicht zit bij het inleren van de afstandsbediening.
• Gebruik de toetsen L1 en L2 om codes in te leren waarvoor de
Xanura afstandsbediening geen overeenkomstige toets heeft.
• Wanneer u problemen heeft bij het inleren van toetsen, wis dan
het geheugen en probeer het inleren opnieuw.
Home Theatre Macro functie
Uw afstandsbediening heeft twee Macro toetsen: M1 en M2. U
kunt deze toetsen zo programmeren dat ze een serie commando’s
met één druk op de knop uitvoeren. Deze krachtige functie is ideaal
voor b.v. het inschakelen van al uw audio- en videoapparatuur of het
kiezen van bepaalde voorkeursinstellingen in Home Theatre
toepassingen.
Programmeren van de Macrotoetsen M1 en M2
1. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
2. Druk op de Macrotoets die u wilt instellen (M1 of M2)
3. Druk op de toetsen van de afstandsbediening welke u onder de
Macro toets wilt opslaan (maximaal 14 commando’s).
De volgorde van programmeren wordt exact overgenomen bij
het uitvoeren van het Macro.
4. Om het Macro op te slaan drukt u nogmaals op de Macrotoets .
Wanneer u het maximum van 14 commando’s bereikt, wordt het
programmeren automatisch beëindigd en worden de 14
commando’s opgeslagen onder de Macrotoets welke u aan het
instellen bent.
Opmerking bij het instellen van Macro’s
De Macrotoetsen kunnen zowel Infrarood als Hoogfrequent
commando’s uitvoeren. Zo kunt u uw audio en video apparatuur
inschakelen en daarbij gelijktijdig de verlichting regelen (met behulp
van Xanura modules). Ideaal voor Home Theatre toepassingen.
Wissen van een Macrotoets
1. Druk op de SETUP toets totdat de LED aanblijft. Laat de SETUP
toets los.
2. Druk op de Macrotoets die u wilt wissen
3. Druk nogmaals op de SETUP toets.

Oplossen van problemen
Met uw afstandsbediening is de apparatuur niet te bedienen, of
werkt geheel niet:
• Gebruik handmatige bediening of de originele afstandsbediening
om uzelf ervan te overtuigen dat uw apparatuur naar behoren
functioneert.
• Zorg ervoor dat u de functietoets (TV, VCR, etc.) ingetoetst heeft
van het apparaat wat u wit bedienen.
• Probeer de code voor uw apparaat te vinden door gebruik te
maken van de methode Handmatig zoeken naar codes of
Automatisch zoeken naar codes.
• Controleer de polariteit van de batterijen.
• Vervang de batterijen.

Ongestoorde werking van het Xanura-systeem
Elektronische apparaten en systemen kunnen gevoelig zijn voor

Introduction
The Xanura remote control device is used to control not only the
Xanura installation, but also virtually any kind of audio or video
equipment. The remote control device replaces six existing remote
control devices so that all your equipment can now be controlled
with a single device. The remote control device also enables you to
control appliances and lighting anywhere in the house from a
remote location, providing they are connected to Xanura modules.
Even your PC can be controlled via the optional Mouse Remote
Receiver. Not only does the remote control device include all the
above options, it is also a user friendly, universal device. It is pre-
programmed at the factory for most equipment makes and models.
Once the equipment code has been entered the remote control
device is ready to be used. You can also add commands if
necessary. The remote control device can learn commands from
virtually any infrared remote control device.
Installing the batteries
1. Remove the cover from the battery compartment on the rear of
the remote control device
2. Insert four AAA batteries. Check the + and - signs in the battery
compartment.

The indicator is on when the remote control device is active.
2 Power
Operates in the same way as the original remote control device.
Is also used to generate an "All Lights On" command.
3 Setup
Used to enter the appliance code for the TV, video or other
appliance.

To learn codes from an existing remote control device that are not
available in the remote control library.
5 VCR, TV, SAT, DVD, CBL, CD
Function keys to select the appliance to be controlled
CBL = decoder, VCR = video.
6PC
A Mouse Remote Receiver enables you to control the MP3, DVD
and CD functions on your PC via the remote control device.

7 SHIFT
Additional functions with pre-programmed codes. Your original
remote control device may include functions that are not available
on the keyboard of the Xanura remote control device. That does not
imply, however, that these functions are not available. They may be
accessible via the SHIFT key. If a function is missing press the
SHIFT key once and find the function by pressing the keys. The
LED is on all the time when in Shift mode. Press the Shift key
again to terminate SHIFT mode. The SHIFT key can also be used to
learn a new function for the relevant key.
8 Showview / V+
This key enables you to use the ShowView or VideoPlus function
on the video recorder (providing the recorder supports this
function). If the video does not include this function, the key will
provide access to the timer function or menu on the video recorder.
If the Showview / V+ key is used in modes other than the VCR
mode (TV, CBL, SAT, CD), it is often used for the Scan function.
This enables you, for example in TV mode, to switch automatically
between stations, or when listening to a CD to the first few
seconds of the tracks. The key ensures that a channel or number is
switched every 3 seconds. The Scan function can be terminated by
pressing any key. The Scan function stops automatically after 2
minutes.
9 Xanura button
To operate Xanura modules in order to control lamps and appliances
in and around the house from a remote location.
0 - 9
Same function as on your original remote control device, and for
entering the appliance code.
10 A · B
Used for toggle functions (pre-programmed codes).
11 Ent (Enter)
Used in combination with numeric keys for direct channel selection.
Used to confirm during programming.
12 Info
Operates in the same way as the original remote control device.

Same function as on your original remote control device. Also used
to switch Xanura modules on and off.

Erasing the memory (recommended before starting setting up your
remote control device):
1. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
2. Press the LEARN key twice.
3. Press the SETUP key. The LED goes out after a few seconds.
4. The remote control memory has now been erased.
Controlling your home using Xanura modules
The Xanura remote control device enables you to control virtually
any type of electrical appliance. In addition to the IR technology
used to control your TV, video, etc., this remote control device
incorporates Xanura HF technology, which makes it possible to
control lighting and appliances anywhere in the house from a
remote location.
The Xanura technology in your remote control device provides
access to a multitude of applications. To name but a few:
• Dimming and switching the lighting on and off while watching TV
• Switching on the coffee machine from the bedroom when you
wake up

• Switching on the lighting when you hear noises at night, in order
to deter burglars
• Switching on your electric blanket before the end of a film, so that
you can get into a nice warm bed.
The following Xanura modules are required to control your lighting
and appliances:
• Modules for mounting behind a wall socket.
• Modules for inserting in a wall socket.
Controlling Xanura modules
The Xanura modules are controlled as follows:
1. Press the Xanura key [yellow house].
2. Use the numeric keys to enter the number code of your chosen
module (single digit codes need not be preceded by a '0').
3. Use the key for the required function (see overview below).

Changing the letter code
The Xanura remote control device is set to letter code A by default.
In most cases this need not be changed,
unless there is interference from a neighbouring Xanura system.
1. Press the Xanura button (yellow house symbol).
2. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
3. Use the numeric keys for the number that equals the selected
letter code (1 = A, 2 = B, … 16 = P).
4. Press the ENTER key to confirm the letter code. The LED goes
out.
Note: Your selected letter code must be the same as the letter code
of the Xanura RF interface that you are using.

Setting the remote control for TV, Video, Decoder, CD, DVD
and Satellite receiver
1. Switch on the appliance you intend to operate (TV, Video, CD etc.).
2. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit.
Release the SETUP key.
3. Press the function key that corresponds to the type of appliance
you intend to operate (TV, Video, CD etc.).
4. Enter the 3 digit code from the code library. The LED will go out
when the third digit is entered.
5. Point the remote control device at the appliance and press the
POWER key. The appliance should now switch off.
6. Switch on the appliance and press CHANNEL+. Installation will
be complete if the appliance reacts. If some of the keys do not
work, try other codes for your particular make from the code
library.
Notes:
• Use the TV key to control the TV set. For other equipment in the
code library you can decide whether to use the VCR, SAT, DVD,
CBL or CD key. This means that the remote control device can
also be used for example for two satellite receivers. The first one
is programmed under SAT and the second one for example
under CBL or DVD.
• Try other codes for your make if the TV, Video or Satellite
Receiver does not react. If this does not work try the 'Searching
for codes' method.
• If the LED is flashing rapidly when you enter the code, it may be
invalid. Find the code in the list and try again.
• You will find code lists for the ABX1 on the website
www.xanra.nl.
Searching for codes manually
To select the correct part of the code library when
searching for codes manually or automatically, you
should always select a code from the code list
intended for the type of appliance you are searching
for (e.g. code from VCR list for video, Sat list for
satellite receiver, etc.).

If the appliance is not included in the code list, or it does not react
to the codes you entered, you can try to match the Xanura remote
control device to your appliance by searching for the correct code
automatically:
1. Switch on the appliance you intend to operate.
2. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
3. Press the function key (TV, VCR, etc.) that corresponds to the
type of appliance you intend to operate. The LED flashes once.
4. Press CHANNEL+ until the appliance you intend to operate
changes station. If you accidentally move a step too far, you can
step back by pressing REW.
5. Press the ENTER key to complete the installation.
Note: You may have to press CHANNEL+ quite frequently (50+). If
you appliance does not have a channel+, channel function use the
PLAY key for a video recorder and the POWER key for all other
appliances.
Searching for codes automatically
To select the correct part of the code library when
searching for codes manually or automatically, you
should always select a code from the code list
intended for the type of appliance you are searching
for (e.g. code from VCR list for video, Sat list for
satellite receiver, etc.).
For example to find a VCR code:
1. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release
the SETUP key.
2. Press the function key (VCR, CBL, etc.) that you intend to
use to operate the video recorder.
3. Enter an arbitrary 3 digit VCR code. The LED will go out
when the third digit is entered.
4. Use the methods under manual or automatic searching
for codes for this function key.
When searching for codes, the remote control device can
automatically run through the code library. If your appliance reacts
you can stop the search function and store the code.

2. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
3. Press the function key (TV, VCR, etc.) that corresponds with the
type of appliance you intend to operate. The LED flashes once.
4. Press CHANNEL+ once. After a few seconds the remote control
device starts to check the code library (quick search). When the
appliance you intend to operate reacts to the remote control,
press CHANNEL- to switch to slow search. If necessary you can

move back several codes manually by pressing CHANNEL-
several times (if you move back too far press CHANNEL+ to
move forwards again). When the appliance reacts to the remote
control again, press the ENTER key to complete the installation.
Identification of retrieved codes
1. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
2. Press the function key of the appliance whose code you want to
identify (TV, VCR, etc.). The LED flashes once.
3. Press SETUP. The LED flashes once.
4. To find the first digit press keys 0 to 9 until the LED flashes.
The number pressed last is the first digit of the code.
5. Press 0 to 9 as described above to find the second digit.
6. Press 0 to 9 to find the third digit. The LED switches off when
the third digit has been found. The code can be entered on the
appropriate label on the remote control device (battery
compartment).
Learning
The Xanura remote control code library includes codes for most
TVs, videos, etc. If, however, a specific appliance is not included in
the library, the codes can be learned from your existing remote
control device. You may also come across a code that is almost
identical to the functions on your appliance, but with a few keys
missing. These keys can simply be learned.
Learning commands
1. Point your existing remote control at the Xanura remote control
device (front facing front) with a gap of approximately 2.5 cm
between them.
2. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
3. Press the function key (TV, CD, SAT, etc.) that corresponds to the
appliance you want to use. The LED flashes once.
4. Press the LEARN key. The LED flashes once.
5. Press the key on the Xanura remote control device under which
a new command is to be learned. The LED flashes once (press
SHIFT first if you intend to use a Shift-based function).
6. Two methods are available, depending on the original type of
remote control device:
a. Press the key of the existing remote control feature you want to
learn. Keep the key on the original remote control pressed down
until the LED on the Xanura remote control device goes out
briefly.
If the LED does not go out but flashes, you need to use remote
control method b
(Note: if you have just tried method a and want
to change to method b, first go to step 5).

b. Press the key of the existing remote control feature you want to
learn. Keep the key on the original remote control pressed down
as long as you normally would when operating the appliance.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each key to be learned.
8. Press ENTER when you have finished learning keys.
Erasing learned commands to release memory space
Stored, learned function commands can be erased individually (TV,
VCR, etc.):
1. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit.
Release the SETUP key.
2. Press your selected function key (TV, VCR, etc.).
The LED flashes once.
3. Press the LEARN key twice.
4. Press SETUP. The LED goes out after a few seconds.
5. All stored, learned commands of your selected functions have
now been erased.
Notes regarding learning
• Ensure that the batteries in both remote control devices are fully
charged before starting the learning process.
• Remember not to move the remote control devices when
pressing keys.
• Commands cannot be allocated to the Learn, Setup, TV, VCR,
CBL, SAT, CD, PC, M1, M2, ShowView/V+, Xanura keys, or
directly to the SHIFT key.
• Experiment by learning 2 or 3 keys initially (to test compatibility)
before learning the entire keyboard of the original remote control
device.
• The LED will flash for 3 seconds if the memory is full. It can no
longer learn additional keys. Any surplus stored keys can be
erased per mode by erasing the learned commands.
• If the keys on the existing remote control device are not pressed
for as long when learning, more memory space will be available
on the Holec remote control. This also minimises the risk of
codes being learned incorrectly.
• If problems occur during the learning process, experiment with
the distance between the remote control devices.
• On some remote control devices the LED is not positioned in the
centre. Experiment by moving them sideways with respect to
each other.
• Make sure that you are not directly below a strip-light, or in direct
sunlight, during the remote control learning process.
• Use keys L1 and L2 to learn codes for which there are no
corresponding keys on the Xanura remote control device.
• If problems occur when learning the keys, erase the memory and
try again.

Home Theatre Macro function
The remote control device is equipped with two Macro keys: M1
and M2. These keys can be programmed to complete a series of
commands when the button is pressed once. This powerful feature
is ideal for example to switch on all your audio and video
equipment, or select specific preferential settings in Home Theatre
applications.
Programming Macro keys M1 and M2
1. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit. Release the
SETUP key.
2. Press the Macro key you intend to set (M1 or M2)
3. Press the remote control keys that will be stored under the
Macro key (maximum 14 commands). The programming
sequence is copied exactly when the Macro is executed.
4. Press the Macro key again to store the Macro. Programming is
terminated automatically at 14 commands (maximum), and the
14 commands are stored under the Macro key you specified.
Note when setting Macros
The Macro keys can execute both infrared and high frequency
commands. This allows you to switch on your audio and video
equipment and control the lighting simultaneously (using Xanura
modules). Ideal for Home Theatre applications.
Erasing a Macro key
1. Press the SETUP key until the LED remains lit.
Release the SETUP key.
2. Press the Macro key you intend to erase
3. Press the SETUP key again.

Troubleshooting
The equipment cannot be operated with the remote control device,
or does not work at all:
• Try manual operation of the original remote control device to
verify that the equipment is working correctly.
• Check that you have pressed the function key (TV, VCR, etc.) of
the appliance you intend to operate.
• Try to find the appliance code by using Manual or Automatic
searching for codes.
• Check the polarity of the batteries.
• Replace the batteries.

Undisturbed functioning of Xanura home automation
Electrical equipment and systems can be sensitive to signals from
other equipment, which causes electro magnetic disturbance. In
the European Union, countries agreed upon laws for the immunity
(sensitivity) of signals of other equipment as well as equipment
emission (disturbance). When equipment or applications in a certain
surrounding comply with the valid standards, they will not disturb
each other's operations (they are called "Electro Magnetic
Compatible").
For residential surroundings, where the home automation system
Xanura is being applied, the European standard for immunity is
standardised in EN 61000-6-1. Equipment that complies with this
standard is resistant to electro magnetic emission of other equip-
ment, which complies with the European standard EN 61000-6-3
for residential surroundings. Experience has shown that in domestic
surroundings, equipment is being used which has an EMC-emission
level that is above the levels stated in EN 61000-6-3. This equip-
ment can disturb the correct functioning of the Xanura-modules.
The immunity of the Xanura built-in modules is therefore revaluated
and equivalent to EN 61000-6-2 (the more severe European
standard for immunity in industrial surroundings).
Nevertheless, the application area for Xanura will remain
restricted to residential areas.
Eaton is therefore not responsible for the disfunctioning
of the Xanura system as a consequence of equipment in
the building with emission levels that exceed the
maximum allowed levels set as standard for residential,
commercial and semi-industrial surroundings stated in
EN 61000-6-3.
