Congratulationson choosing the Solution-8 securitycontrol systemto protectyou
and yourproperty.Sothatyou cangetthemostfromyouralarmsystemwesuggestthat
you takethetimeto readthrough thismanualand familiariseyourselfwith the
Solution-8 and itsmanyoutstandingoperating features.
You willnotice thatin all aspectsofplanning, engineering, styling, operation,
convenienceand adaptability, wehavesought toanticipateyoureverypossible
requirement.
Features
The Solution-8 securitycontrol systemusestheverylatestin microprocessor
technologyto provideyou withmoreusefulfeaturesand superiorreliability and
performance.
Following isalistofsomeofthefeaturesand whytheywillbeofbenefitto you.
Operating codesmaybeup to six digitslong. Thisallowsforafargreater
combination ofcodesand thereforeahigherdegreeofsecurity.
Dynamicbatterytesting continuallytestsand monitorsthestandbybatteries
condition. Asbatteriesdo not lastforeverthisfeaturewillwarnyou ofpoor
batterycondition beforeanalarmoccurs.
Dayalarmwarning allowsyou tomonitortheopeningofafront doorin ashop or
to prohibitaccess into aparticularareawhilethesystemisstilldisarmed.
Remotearming isauniquefeaturethatallowsyou to armyouralarmsystemfrom
anytelephoneintheworld. Thisisveryuseful ifyou forgetto armyoursystem.
Thebuilt intelephonediallerwill alertyou oryourmonitoring station ofany
alarmoradverseevent 24 Hoursaday.Thishighlysophisticatedcommunications
systemiscapableofidentifying and reporting manydifferentevents.Forfull
detailspleasecontactyourinstaller.
All ofthesystemconfiguration information isstoredinnon volatilememory
whichmeansthatmanyoftheoptionscanbeprogrammedon sitebytheinstaller
to bestsuit yourneeds.Thisdataisretainedevenwhenthepowerisdisconnected
to thesystem.
Staymodeallowsyou to armthesystemwith predeterminedareasdisabled. This
meansthatyou canarmyoursystematnight whileyou arestill athomethus
giving you personalprotection.

BasicSystem Operation
Theoverallpurposeofyouralarmsystemistodeteranywould beintruderfrom
entering yourpremises.
Beforeleaving yourhomeorofficemakesureallthewindowsand doorsareclosed.
Keyin yourdesignatedcodefollowedbytheAWAY button.Youralarmsystemwill
now armand commence counting down thepre-programmedexit time.
You should exit thebuilding during thistimeclosing theexitpathon yourway.
Aftertheexit timeexpires,along beepwill beheardand anyunsealedzoneswill
automaticallybeisolated.
Thesystemisnow readyto accept alarms.
Ifasealedzoneisnowopened, anumberofpre-programmedeventswill occur.
Following isatypicalsequenceofevents.
Thealarmsystemwill activatetheaudibledevicessuchassirensandtriggerstrobeand
thedialler.Thediallerwill thentransmitall relevantalarminformationviathe
telephonelinealerting therespectivepersonsofthecurrent stateofevents.
Thesirentimerwillcommencecounting down assoon asanalarmoccurs.Whenthe
timeexpiresthesirenwillbeautomaticallyturnedoffand placedinto areadystatefor
thenextalarm.
Upon yourreturn,thestrobelight will beoperating informing you thattherehasbeenan
alarm.
Oneoranumberofzoneswill beflashing allowing you to identifytheparticularzone
thathascausedthealarmcondition.
Thenext timethealarmsystemisarmedtheindicatorswill beclearedautomatically.
Thisisaverybasicoutlineofthegeneralsystemoperation.Astherearemanyfeatures
availablein the Solution-8,therecouldbenumerousvariationsfromtheabove
sequence.

TheConsole
Theconsoleisthecommunicationsinterface betweenyouandyouralarmsystem.It
allowsyou to issuecommandsand offersboth visualand audibleindicationsthatguide
you through thegeneraloperation.

condition ofeachzoneand fourforgeneralstatus.Thefollowing isalistofsituations

Therearehoweversomemodesofoperation suchaschanging ausercodewherethe
FAULT indicatorisusedto represent thedigit'9'.Thisshouldnot beconsideredasa
fault but interpretedasintended, according to thecurrent modeofoperation.

ExtinguishMode
Thisoption whenprogrammedbyyourinstallerwill causetheindicatorson your
consoleto automatically extinguishiftheconsoleisnot usedforaperiod ofsixty
seconds.At anytimetheindicatorscanbebroughtbackto anilluminatedstateby
pressing abutton, analarmcondition orwhenthesystemisinentrytime.Theindicators
will not illuminateifasilent alarmistriggered.
NOTE:
Thisoption canonlybeprogrammedbyyourinstaller.
ConsoleOperations
Introduction
Thefollowing pageswill describehowto useand interpretthemanyconsolefunctions
thatareavailableonthe Solution-8.
Mostfunctionsareperformedusing themastercode.
Beforeattempting to enteranyofthemastercodefunctionsensurethatthesystemisin
thedisarmedstateand thatthereareno alarmmemoryindicatorsflashing. Ifthisisnot
thecasethefollowing will berequired.
Ifthezoneindicatorsareflashing fastatthreepulsespersecond, keyinyourmaster
codefollowedbytheAWAYbutton.
Ifthepanelbecomesarmed, (ie.theAWAY indicatorisilluminated)keyinyourcode
followedbytheAWAY button again. Thiswillplace thesystembackinto thedisarmed
state.
Ifthesystemisnotdisarmed,(ie.theAWAYorSTAY indicatorsareilluminated)key
in yourcodefollowedbytheAWAYbutton.
Thefactorydefault mastercodeis 2580. Thiscodecanbechangedatanytimetherefore
ifyoursystemmastercodediffersfromthedefault, pleasesubstituteyourexisting
mastercodeinthefollowing examples.
Thiscodeallowsyou to changeanyuserscodeand eventhemastercodeitself.Itisalso
theonlycodethatallowstheexecutionofspecialfunctionsasdetailedlaterin this
manual.
Codescanbeup to sixdigitsinlength. Thisisdependent on theconfiguration setup by
you installer.

Itshouldalsobenotedthatforanycodethathastrailing zeros,thezerosneednotbe
enteredwhenarming ordisarming thesystem.
Example: Ifyourcodeis2670 thenyouonlyneedtoenter267 AWAY
to turnthesystemon and off.
Thetrailing zerosmusthoweverbeenteredwheneveraspecialmastercodeoperation is
to beperformed. Thefollowing operationsrequireanytrailing zerosto beentered.

thenumber'1'thenAWAY.
You will hearthree beepsand theAWAY indicatorwillflashfastatthree pulsesper
second to indicateasuccessful entry.
Now keyin theusernumberthatyou wishto alterfollowedbyAWAY button. You will
heartwo beepsand thecorresponding zoneindicatorwillilluminate.Usernumbernine
will beindicatedbytheFAULT indicator.Ifuserfiveisbeing alteredthenzone
indicatornumber5will illuminate.Ifuserthirteenisbeing alteredthentheFAULT and
Zone4indicatorswillilluminate
Example: Faultindicator(9)+Zone4indicator(4)=13.
Now proceedto keyin yournewcodefollowedbyAWAY button.
Three beepswill beheard, theAWAYindicatorwillextinguishand thesystemwill
returntonormal.

beheardand theappropriatezoneindicatorwillilluminate.
Usernumberninewill beindicatedbytheFAULT indicator.Ifuserfiveisbeing erased
thenzoneindicatornumberfivewill illuminate.Ifuserthirteenisbeing erasedthenthe
FAULTand zonefourindicatorswill illuminate.
Example: Faultindicator(9)+Zoneindicator(4)=13.
Toerase,press the'0'button followedbytheAWAYbutton and three beepswillbe
heardto indicatethattheuserhasbeenerasedandthatthesystemhasreturnedto
normal.
Ifyou wishto eraseanyfurthercodes,repeatthisprocedureasmanytimesasrequired.
