1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Health & Safety
Please ensure you read the Health & Safety notes in Section 9.
1.2 Use of this Manual
This manual guides you through the basic operation and maintenance of the Micra allowing you to
obtain a guaranteed supply of puried water to meet your requirements.
1.3 Environment
The Micra unit should be installed on a at, level surface, in a clean, dry environment. The unit can
also be wall mounted against a vertical wall capable of supporting the weight of the unit.

3. CONSUMABLES
*Service Life is an estimate only, and will depend on the use of the unit and feed water quality. Please
take care to ensure you order the correct consumable items.
4.INSTALLATION
1) UNPACK the unit.
2) PLACE Micra in the desired location.
The unit can be wall mounted, oor mounted,
or bench mounted.
4.1 Level Control
It is recommended that Micra is connected to a suitable reservoir and operated in an automatic mode
using the level control supplied.
1) PLUG in the level control.
POSITION the level control in the reservoir as pictured below.

4.2 Power Cable Install
1) UNSCREW the housing for the Depth Filter.
Always use only the power cable provided with the unit.
2) UNSCREW the nuts securing the protective plate.
3) SLIDE in the power cable.

4) REATTACH the plate back on its original position.
PLUG in the lead.
4.3 10 Micron Depth Filter and
Carbon Filter Installation.
1) UNPACK the 10 Micron Depth Filter.
Carbon Filter

2) PLACE the 10 Micron Depth Filter inside the housing and
SCREW it back in place.

3) UNSCREW the housing for the Carbon Filter.
4) UNPACK the Carbon Filter from its packaging. PLACE the
Carbon Filter inside the housing and SCREW it back in place.
4.4 DI Pack installation
1) REMOVE a new Purication Cartridge from its packaging.
REMOVE the sealing plugs from the inlet and outlet ports.
WET ‘O’ rings and SLIDE the cartridge into the position.
POSITION cartridge onto spigots at rear and PUSH into unit.

4.7 Reservoir connection
Connect puried water outlet to a suitable reservoir or direct to your nal application.
1) TURN system on – Press the Process button, indicated by arrow, to start. The system is ON when the
green light appears.
LEAVE the system working for about 1 hour to rinse the system. Once completed the system is ready
to use.
CONNECT the power
4.5 Water Connections
Follow instruction, below, when connecting Portable
water inlet, Puried water outlet and Drain outlet.
- UNSCREW compression nut.
- REMOVE transit tting.
- INSERT 1/4” tubing.
- HAND TIGHTEN compression nut.
- 1/2 TURN to extra tighten.
NOTE: At the Portable water inlet, ensure pressure
will not exceed 2 bar (30 psi).
4.6 Commissioning Rinse
Direct both Puried water outlet and Drain outlet to drain before commencing.

5. OPERATION
Micra provides CLSI Type II pure water for manual and semi-automatic clinical analyzers with daily
consumption up to 25L.
5.1 Automatic operation (Reservoir Controls).
ENSURE the unit is connected to a suitable reservoir and the level control is installed.
PRESS process button.
The unit will start lling the tank automatically, ensure that a reservoir of water is available.
5.2 Manual operation (No Reservoir Controls).
PRESS process button to start (green light will appear).
PRESS process button to stop (no light on the display).
6. SETTING WATER QUALITY ALARM
The water quality alarm is automatically set up to warn you when the water quality is below 10MΩ/cm.
It can be adjusted to 5MΩ/cm or 2MΩ/cm by following this procedure:
WARNING! PRIOR TO ANY MAINTENANCE, TURN OFF MICRA
AND DISCONNECT IT FROM ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY.
WARNING! IN CASE OF UNEXPECTED POWER SHORTAGE, THE UNIT WILL
RESUME WORKING AUTOMATICALLY, WITH 1 MIN FLUSH IN
THE BEGINNING.
1) UNSCREW the screws securing the top cover.

2) REMOVE the top cover.
3) According to your needs, MOVE the link from the default position (1):

7. MAINTENANCE
An approved supplier or distributor should carry out any maintenance work not included in this manual.
Note: Disposal of all end-of-life consumable items should be in accordance with local statutory
regulations.
The indicator light will show when the Purication Cartridge, 10 Micron Depth Filter and Carbon Filter are
exhausted. These cartridges should be always exchanged at the same time to ensure optimal results.
7.1 Replacing the Reverse Osmosis Module (LC229)
Micra is tted with a Reverse Osmosis (RO) module.
The RO Module may need replacing if the permeate water purity or ow rate is not adequate and does
not meet predicted or previous performance.
For information regarding the replacement of the RO Module contact Customer Support.

AND DISCONNECT IT FROM ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY.

7.2 Sanitization
Micra should be sanitized once a year. This should be done when the Purication Cartridge is
nearing exhaustion.
During the sanitization cycle a CS1 disinfection tablet is used. A safety data sheet conforming to COSHH
regulations is provided with the tablets and should be read before the tablet is used.
1) TURN system off.
2) UNSCREW carbon lter housing then remove carbon lter.
3) ADD CS1 tablets to housing then allow to dissolve.
4) REPLACE the lter housing (Do not install a new carbon lter).
5) DIRECT Puried Water outlet to Drain.
6) TURN on system for 1 hour.
7) TURN off system. EXCHANGE the Filters and the Purication Cartridge. Refer to page 7
for DI pack installation.
8) RECONNECT Puried Water outlet. System is ready for use.

8. SELF HELP GUIDELINES
This section covers some of the issues that could occur with your Micra, and provides the troubleshooting
steps to help you to resolve the issue yourself.
When troubleshooting doesn’t resolve your issue, please call your local ELGA LabWater representative
(See Section 8 - Useful Contact Details).
WARNING! ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY IS
ISOLATED BEFORE WORKING INSIDE Micra.
DISPLAY RECOMMENDED ACTION
NO LIGHT
Check power supply connection, turn the system on.
If the system does not react, contact technical support.
GREEN LIGHT ON
None – the system is working correctly.
GREEN and RED LIGHT ON
The water quality is below the setpoint.
Change the Purication Cartridge, 10 Micron Depth Filter and
Carbon Filter.
RED LIGHT ON - continuous
Check if the Purication Cartridge is tted in correctly
RED LIGHT ON – ashing
Purication Cartridge/10 Micron Depth Filter/Carbon Filter
nearing expiry date.

The appliance coupler (mains lead) or power supply connected to the rear of the unit can be removed to
isolate the power supply. If access to this is restricted then it is recommended that access to the supply
socket is easily available to disconnect the electrical supply.

Material safety data sheets covering the CT1 disinfection tablets are available upon request.
CAUTION! Clean dry indoor. Temp 5-40°C.
Humidity max 80% non-condensing.
Failure to follow the environmental specication could result in
damage to the system.
Micra is not designed for use in fume cupboards where
chemicals could damage the system.
WARNING! ONLY USE THE APPLIANCE COUPLER (MAINS LEAD) AND POWER
SUPPLY PROVIDED.
THE USE OF THESE WILL ENSURE ADEQUATE EARTH
PROTECTION IS PROVIDED.
IF THE EQUIPMENT IS USED IN A MANNER NOT SPECIFIED BY
ELGA, THE PROTECTION PROVIDED BY THE EQUIPMENT MAY BE
IMPAIRED.
POSITION THE POWER SUPPLY SO THAT IT CANNOT COME INTO
CONTACT WITH WATER.
WARNING! DURING THE COMMISSIONING CYCLE TRACE RESIDUAL
BIOSTAT IS FLUSHED FROM THE SYSTEM. A MATERIAL SAFETY
DATA SHEET IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
WARNING! ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY IS
ISOLATED BEFORE WORKING INSIDE Micra.

could result in damage to the equipment, associated equipment

VWS (UK) Ltd. warrants the products manufactured by it against defects in materials and workmanship when used in
accordance with applicable instructions for a period of one year from the date of shipment for the products. VWS (UK)
Ltd. MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THERE IS NO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The warranty provided herein and the data, specications and descriptions of
the VWS (UK) Ltd. products appearing in VWS (UK) Ltd. published catalogues and product literature may not be altered
except by express written agreement signed by an ofcer of VWS (UK) Ltd. Representations, oral or written, which are

PACKS, against defects in materials and workmanship when used in accordance with the applicable instructions and
within the operating conditions specied for the systems for a period of one year from the earlier of:
the date of installation, or
the 120th day following the date of shipment.
VWS (UK) LTD. MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THERE IS NO WARRANTY OF
MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The warranty provided herein and the data,
specications and descriptions of the VWS (UK) Ltd. systems appearing in VWS (UK) Ltd. published catalogues
