Dispensing ultrapure water
Before dispensing
Itisagoodpracticetoalwaysrecirculatewaterbeforedispensing.
Todothis,pressontherecirculationicon ,thisalsorefreshesthewaterqualityparameters:
•Productresistivity
• TOC
•Temperature
When connected to a storage tank, always make sure there is enough water present before
dispensing.Thisinformationisalwaysdisplayedonthemainscreen.
Dispensing ultrapure in free ow mode
Enablesausertodispensemanuallyinafreeowmode.
1.Todispenseultrapurewater,usethefoodpedalswitchconnectedtothebaseoftheMilli-Q®
IQElementunit,asshowninthepicturebelow.
2.Pressonceandquicklyreleasetodispenseinfullow.
3.Pressandholdtostartdispensingindrop-by-drop,keeppressingtoincreasetheowrate
untilfullowisreached.Releaseatthechosenowrate.
4.Pressoneadditionaltimewhenyouwishtostoptheowdispensing.

Dispensing ultrapure water in volumetric dispensing mode
Enablesausertoautodispenseapre-selectedvolume(20mLto100L).Simplypresstheicon
oftheHomescreentostartavolumetricdispensing.
1- Press the pre-selected volume box to
setthedesiredvolumetodispense.Ifthe
volume is set as you expect, either press
thestart button on the screen or the foot
pedaltoinitiatethedispense.
2-Selecttheunit.
3- Select the desired volume and press
“OK”tovalidate.
4-Eitherpressthestopbuttononthescreenor
thefootpedaltostopthedispense.
Thesystemwillautomaticallystoponcetheinputvolumeisreached.
Note:Thesystemrecordsthelastvolumedispensed.Torepeatavolumetricdispense,clickon
thestarticonorthefootpedal.

Dispense report
A dispense report is automatically produced after each dispensing operation. A dispensing
operationisconsideredtobealldispenseswithlessthan10secondintervalsbetweenthem.This
canbeinterruptedatanytimebypressingonthedispensereporticonthatbecomesavailable
onthehomescreenassoonasadispenseisinitiated.

The dispense report icon on the home screen will automatically disappear after 5 minutes of
inactivity.Eachdispensereport,whetherconsultedornot,isautomaticallyarchivedandcanbe
retrievedanytimebygoinginthehistoryreportsectionavailableintheinformationmenu.

ThismenuallowsausertocongureallparametersspecictoMilli-Q®IQElementunitsandPODs.
TheseareuniquetotheMilli-Q®IQElementunit/PODthatisbeingusedtoinputthevalues.
ToduplicateMilli-Q®IQElementunit/PODparameters,theaction(s)shouldberepeatedonallotherPODs.
Milli-Q IQ Element Name
Thiscanbepersonalized.Clickonthetextboxandinputuptoamaximumof8characters.
Screen brightness
Adjusttothepreferredbrightnessfrom1to7usingthearrowsorclickontheboxtoaccessthe
keypadandtype-inthevalue.
Sound volume
EachMilli-Q®IQElementunitcanemitasoundwhenalerts/alarmsaretriggered.Thiscanbeactivated
ordeactivatedusingthesliderbutton.Thesoundcanbeadjustedtothedesiredvolumebyusingthe
arrowsorclickontheboxtoaccessthekeypadandtype-inthevalue.Bydefault,thesoundisdeactivated.
Flowmeter offset
The owmeter has been calibrated in order to achieve volume precision of +/- 5%. In case of an
obviousmistakeoftheowmeterbroughtoutwithanexternalcalibrateddevice,thissettingprovides
thelabmanager(bydefaultpassword:PASS)theabilitytoadjustitbyusinganoffsetfunction.
Adjusttheoffsetbyusingthearrowsorclickontheboxtoaccessthekeypadandtypeinthevalue.
Togainbacktheoriginalcalibrationsetting,setthevaluebackto0.
Distribution depressurization
Having a Milli-Q® IQ Element unit installed
involvedtheuseofthefootpedaltodepressurize
theMilli-Q®IQ7000systemorthedistribution
sideoftheMilli-Q®IQ7003/7005/7010/7015
system.
Thedistributiondepressurizationisavailableby
goingin“MAINTENANCE”,“Depressurization”.
This feature is not necessary during nor-
mal system operation. Please refer to the
Milli-Q® IQ 7000 system or Milli-Q®IQ
7003/7005/7010/7015 system user manuals
formoreinformation.

5: Depending upon the system type that feeds
theMilli-Q®IQElementunit,eitherclickon“IPAK
Meta-IPAKQuanta-IPAKQuantaICP-
Optimizer”or“IPAKQuanta-IPAKQuantaICP-
Optimizer-installation”.
6:DependinguponthesystemtypethatfeedstheMilli-Q®IQElementunit,younowseeeitherof
bothscreensshownbelow.Besuretomeetthepre-requisiteaheadofpressing“Next”.
Important:Inadditiontothe20L(Milli-Q®IQ7003/7005/7010/7015)or30L(Milli-Q®IQ7000)inthetank
requiredtoproceedthewizard,additional20LwillbenecessaryfortheOptimizer™LWnallterrinsing(step
21).IfyourMilli-Q®IQElementunitisfedbyaMilli-Q®IQ7003/7005/7010/7015anda25Lcapacitytank,you
willneedtowaitseveralhoursforthetanktorellinordertonishtheproceduredependingonsystemowrate
capacity.

8:Depressurizeusingthefootpedal.Clickon“Next”
tocontinue.
9:ReplacetheIPAKQuanta®.Ifapplicable(Mil-
li-Q®IQ7000),alsoreplacetheIPAKMeta®.

HMI.

rinsingof20L(refertotheQuickStartchapter).
25: Purge the air out of the IPAK Quanta®ICP
cartridge(refertothededicatedchapter)andout
of the Optimizer LW™ nal lter by temporary
looseningitstheuppernut.
26: Reinstallthe Milli-Q® IQ Element unit front

Theconsumabledataregistrationisincludedinthe“Consumableskitreplacementstandardoperating
procedure”previouslydescribed(step7,page11).Youcanre-registertheconsumableslotnumber
bygoingin“MAINTENANCE”,“Installconsumables”andeither“Optimizer”and/or“IPAKQuantaICP”:
Inboth“Optimizer”and “IPAKQuantaICP”,thecatalognumberisthesame:“IPAKICPK1”. Thelot
numberisthesameforagivenMilli-Q®IQElementconsumablekit.
Example:In“Optimizer”youcanseethefollowingscreen:
YoucaneithermanuallytypeinorfetchthedatabyscanningtheRFIDcardonthee-Suretagreader.
Ifyoumanuallytypeinthedata,replace“XXXXXXXXXXXX”bytheactuallotnumberofthekit.You
canndtheserialnumberwrittenonthelabelofthekitbox.Theexactsamedatahastobetyped
in/scannedin“IPAKQuantaICP”.

Purging air from the IPAK Quanta ICP®cartridge
1:Makesureyouarenotinmaintenancemode.
Otherwise, press the “Exit maintenance” button
togobacktothehomescreen.
2:Get a screwdriver with a very thin shaft and
smallhead.Youcanalternativelyuseamechani-
calpencilprovidedthattheleadisretracted.
3:Locatethesmallholeonthetoppartofthe
IPAKQuantaICP®cartridge.
3:GentlyinsertthescrewdriverintotheIPAK
QuantaICP®cartridge.Thiswillopenasmall
ventthatwillexpelanyairintheIPAKQuanta
ICP®cartridge.
Important:BeverycarefulwhenpushingthetipofthescrewdriverintotheventholeoftheIPAK
QuantaICP®cartridge.Theventholeonlyneedstobeopenedaverysmallamount.Weargoggles.
