customer.TheET1529LisavailableinserialandUSBversionsorcombo touchmonitor.
TheET1529Lfunctionallyconsistsofa15.0”LCDmaindisplaywithatouchscreen,an
optional12.1inchLcd,customerdisplay,anoptionalvacuumfluorescentdisplay(VFD)
CustomerDisplay,anoptionalfingerprintreader,anoptionalcredit cardreader,anda6
portUSB(USBversion only)Hub.Themaindisplayelementisa15.0inchdiagonal
XGAresolution(1024x768)LCDdisplay.Themaindisplaywill consistofanLCD
Displayand touchscreen.Three typesoftouchscreenscanbeselectedinthe1529Las
options.TheyareAccuTouch,Intellitouch,andIR.The12.1inchsecond displaywill
consistoftheLCDDisplayandtouchscreen(option).TheCustomerDisplayisatwenty
charactertwolinevacuumfluorescentdisplay(VFD).TheVFDcandisplay40 charac-
tersina20 character2rowformat.Eachcharacterismadebyvariousfontsusinga5x7
pixelformatmatrix.
Thefingerprintreadertranslatesilluminatedimagesoffingerprintsintodigitalcodefor
furthersoftwareprocessing,e.g.enrollment(fingerprintregistration)andverification
(authenticationofregisteredusers).ThefingerprintreaderusestheSEIRmethod and
CMOSimagesensortocapturehighcontrast,highresolutionfingerprintimages.Ase-
riesofalgorithmsextractsminutiae datafromtheimage,mapping thedistinguishing
characteristicsoffingerprintridgeends,splits,dots,andarches.Toidentifyorverifya
fingerprint,aproprietarymatching algorithmcomparestheextractedminutiae points
fromtheinputfingerprinton theopticalmoduletoapreviouslystoredsample.The
entirematching process takesroughlyonesecond.Thereisafingerprintreaderavail-
ableintheUSBversion oftheET1529L.

Thecredit cardreaderreadsall three stripesonastandardcredit cardordriverslicense.
Thecredit cardisreadbysliding thecredit card,stripesidetowardthedisplaythrough
thecredit cardreaderforwardorbackward.ThereisaUSBcredit cardreaderonly.
TheHubprovides4internalUSBportstobeusedbythecredit cardreader,thefinger-
printreader,thetouchscreen,andthecustomerdisplay.Thehub alsosuppliestwoUSB
portstotheoutsideofthebackofthe1529Lforexternaluse.Thehubisonlyusedbythe
USBversionofthe1529L.The1529LispoweredbyauniversalACpowersource or12
