Uploading Description File to E2
1. Connect to the E2 controller using UltraSite
Software.
2. Open UltraSite and proceed to the created
site with the communications information of
the controller. Right click the site and click
Connect.
3. Once logged in and connected, right click the
E2 controller icon and select Upload
Description File. If there are multiple
controllers, make sure to choose the correct
controller.

4. The E2 Description File Upload box will
appear.
Note: If a Beta version of the file is loaded, it must be
removed first. Select Remove, then reboot the controller.
5. Click Browse and select the location of the
description file. Click Open, then Upload.
6. A prompt box will appear indicating that the
description file has been uploaded. Select OK.
7. Once the description file uploading process
has been competed, reboot the E2 controller.
The description file will not be loaded into
memory until the controller is rebooted.
Right-click the controller, select Service
Actions, then click Reset Unit.

Activating the License of the Device
1. If connected remotely, use Terminal Mode to
enter the license.
2. From the E2 front panel (or via Terminal
Mode), log into the controller using Level 4
credentials.
3. Press , , and to go to the Licensing
screen.
4. Press , then enter the License Key issued
for the device. If entered correctly, the
message License Feature Activated will
appear on the screen.
Device Setup
Setting the Address on XM670K_50 using the
CX660 Keyboard
1. Press + at the same time for
five (5) seconds to open first-level
programming. The display will stop flashing
once it enters the programming mode.
2. Navigate through parameters by pressing
or until Adr appears on the screen.
3. Press and assign the corresponding
address for the device by pressing or
. Press to save changes.
4. To exit, press + or wait for a few
seconds without pressing any key and the
display will start flashing.

E2 Serial Port Setup
1. Log into the E2 by pressing the button
and enter “USER” for Username and “PASS”
for Password, then press .
2. Press ,, , to go to General
Controller Info.
3. Press twice to move to the C3: Serial
tab.
4. Press to highlight the Com6 Connection
value.
5. Press (LOOK UP) and select MODBUS-1
(if MODBUS-1 is being used, select
MODBUS-2 or MODBUS-3 connection), then
press to set configuration.
6. Press to select options and set the
MODBUS connection as follows:
7. Press to set configuration and to
save the changes.
8. Press to return to the Home screen.
Note: The XM670K MODBUS Connection must be set to
9600 baud.
Adding a XM670K_50 Controller in E2
1. Press ,, , to enter Connected I/O
Boards and Controllers.
2. Press once to move to C4: Third Party
tab. Highlight the XM670K_50 application
and enter the desired number of devices
under Quantity.
3. Press to save changes and to
return to the Home screen.
Commissioning XM670K_50 Controller

3. When a prompt box with message Select
Network appears on the screen, select the
MODBUS address number that you already
configured for the device address and press

4. The prompt box below will appear, then press
to continue.
5. Press to save the assigned address and
press to return to the Home screen.

Summary screen. Wait for 30-60 seconds and
the XM670K_50 should appear Online.
7. Repeat the process for other devices.

1. From the Home screen, press , to
Add/Delete Application.

many? field and type the desired amount of
Standard Circuits required.

Connecting XM670K_50 to a Standard Circuit
1. From the Home screen, press , for
Circuits.
2. Highlight the Standard Circuit you wish to
edit.
3. Press (SETUP).
4. Rename the Standard Circuit if not yet
renamed.

5. Set the Temp Ctrl Strat property to
MONITOR/DEFROST.
6. Press to go the Setpoints tab. Change
the setpoint value to the desired setpoint the
device will use. This setpoint will pass its
setting to the device after connecting inputs/
outputs.
7. Advanced to the Defrost tab and change the
defrost settings. The defrost settings must
match the device defrost settings.
8. In the Defrost tab, select the property Term
Type. Press (LOOK UP) and choose
THERMOSTAT.
9. This will expose a digital input in the Inputs
tab to route the XM670K_50 Device
Application property DEFROST END, which
will be the standard circuit indication to
terminate the circuit defrost, updating the
circuit status.
10. Press to advance to the Defr Times tab
and set the times.
11. The circuit will provide the Start Defrost
signal to the XM670K_50; however, the
XM670K_50 will take over all defrost
sequencing until it has ended and signal back
to the circuit to terminate defrost and update
status.

17. Press to advance to the Setpoints tab
and highlight the property SETPOINT.

Alternate I/O Formats.
19. Choose to convert this input to a pointer
from a fixed value.

NOTE: If the Standard Circuit Defrost Term Type property
was not set to Thermostat, the available DEFR DV TERM 1
will not display while executing (LOOKUP).
REVIEW
The XM670K_50 Dual Compressor description file
was specifically made for OEM Carter Cases.
There are 2 Inputs and 2 Outputs connecting
between the XM670K_50 Device Application and a
Standard Circuit Application. See Table 1.

The Standard Circuit sets the Defrost Schedule and
can provide temperature alarming. The Standard
Circuit is displayed on the E2 Home screen under
Circuits. Once a defrost begins, the XM670K_50
device application will execute the defrost
sequence. Once it has met its settings to end a
defrost, it will then signal the Standard Circuit that
defrost has ended, updating the Standard Circuit.
The Standard Circuit only provides temperature
setpoint and does not control refrigeration.
1. Each E2 property in the XM670K_50 has
property help to aid in understanding.
Highlight a property and press the to
get more details.
2. When one or more settings are changed in
the Setup tab, go back to the Main Status
screen of the XM670K_50 and press .
3. Select Application Commands and press
. Then choose Send E2 Cfg to Device. In
this way, it executes the changes and sends
these changes to the device.

Temp Unit CF - Temp Display Unit Sets temperature display units. Configured for only DF.
Display Resolut rES - Display resolution in
Celsius Sets display resolution if using Celsius. Not applicable, but needed to send to device.
Comp2 Relay Cfg oA6 - Sixth relay (Comp2)
configuration Sets output 6 as compressor #2. If set to Not Used, this will turn off the logic that turns this compressor on and off.
Defr Int Reset idE - Defrost time interval
memorization Sets device eeprom to memorize time when the last defrost occurred. If set to YES and a power loss is experienced, the device will log in memory
the last defrost event and base its next defrost according to the setting of
DEFR INTERVAL (idF). Example: If DEFR INTERVAL (idF) set for 6 hours and
a power outage occurred 2 hours after last defrost event, once power is
restored and the DEFR STARTUP (dPo) is not set to OFF, the device would
defrost 4 hours after power was restored. If DEFR INTERVAL (idF) is set for
6 hours and this setting is set to NO after a power loss, the device will
defrost 6 hours after power is restored to the device. This is useful when
the device is used on portable machines.
Keybd Lockout Command input of
keyboard lock on Selecting ON sends a command to lock out the keyboard.
Defr At StartUp dPO - Defrost at power ON Selecting ON means the device will attempt to defrost at start up. All
defrost settings will be obeyed during this defrost and all defrosts after, if
not connected to a supervisory controller that is commanding defrost via
a schedule. This has to be set to YES for the device to have a first defrost in
order for the device to begin its internal time count for parameter DEFR
INTERVAL (idF).
Display Delay dLy - Display update rate Sets local temperature update rate. 1 - 20 minutes in 1-minute increments
are available.
Disable Access P2d - Disable Pr2 menu
after 30 seconds When this setting is set to YES, the device will disable access to the level 2 parameters at the device after 30 seconds from a power cycle of a device.
If set to NO, level 2 access is allowed anytime.
Local Display LoD - Local Display Option This setting selects which probe the local display will show unless in
defrost.

Configuration Temperature alarm configuration - Only for probes configured as TMP1ALRM PROBE (rAL). Ab = absolute temperature, which means the
high and low temperature alarm settings set are the real time value for
which the device will report an alarm regardless of the operating setpoint
of device.
rE = relative temperature, which means the high and low temperature
alarm settings are set relative to the operating setpoint of device.
rE Example: Setpoint = 34, High Alarm = 10, Low Alarm = 10. High Alarm
will occur at 44 after delay. Low Alarm will occur at 24 after delay.

Tmp 1 Alm Hyst AHY - Temperature Alarm
1 Hysteresis Only for the configured TMP2 ALRM PROBE (rA2). TMP2 ALRM HYST (A2H) sets the temperature that is subtracted from the TMP2 ALARM HI
(A2U) or added to TMP2 ALARM LO (A2L) at which the device will stop
reporting a high or low temperature alarm for TMP2 ALRM PROBE (rA2).
This setting is not influenced by how TEMP ALRM CFG (ALC) is set. TMP2
Alarm settings are only Absolute.
Example: TMP2 ALARM HI (A2U) set at 50. TMP2 ALRM HYST (A2H) set at

between terminals 1 and 2 and close contacts between terminals 1 and 3
when the device reports an alarm.

TempAlmDefDly EdA - Temp alarm delay
after defrost Sets the delay of a temperature alarm of either configured temperature alarm directly after a defrost. This is added to the TMP1 ALARM DELAY
(ALd) or TMP2 Alarm Delay (A2D).
CMP2 ALM Reports compressor 2
safety alarm status Reports compressor 2 safety alarm status on the application Status screen. Update rate 10 - 30 seconds. Can be pointed out for use in other
applications. Logging set by default. User can disable logging.
ALARM Reports alarm relay output
status Reports as ON if any device alarm is generated. This alarm will show as ON in the device application status screen in the General Status box. The state
of this digital output can be pointed to other E2 applications. The local
display will annunciate an alarm sound that can be silenced at either the
display itself by pressing any button or through the device application
commands navigated to by pressing Enter when on the device application
Status screen. This alarm can be disabled from reporting to the E2
advisory log or set to Notice, and the priority level can be set.
TempAlmDoorDly dot - Temp alarm delay
after door open This setting delays the device temperature alarms from alarming for the time set if the temperature exceeds the alarm settings when the door
switch has been activated.

DOOR ALM
RESTAR rrd - Ref restart with door open If either Digital Input 1 or Digital Input 2 or Digital Input 3 is configured for the Door Switch and after the respective digital input delay setting has
exceeded its time setting, the door alarm will be generated. The door
switch, when active, can also turn OFF the refrigeration and fan relays if
configured to do so at E2 property Door Sw Mode (odC). At the time the
alarm is generated, the loads, if configured to be OFF when a door
opening is activated, this setting will also reactivate the loads to their normal
operating mode.
Tmp 1 Alrm Probe rAL - 1st Probe used for

Defrost Type tdF - Defrost Type Sets the defrost action during defrost. Electric defrost will turn
refrigeration relay OFF and defrost output ON when all settings and
thresholds have been met. When Hot Gas Defrost is selected, the
refrigeration relay will remain on.
Defr St Delay dSd = Defrost Start Delay Sets the delay to start a defrost if E2 property DEFROST MODE (Edf) set to
Interval and E2 property DEFR INTERVAL (idf) set to1 hour or more. 0 =
disabled.
Fan During Defr FnC = Fan operating mode
during defrost Sets the behavior of the fan relay output during defrost.
Fan Delay Defr Fnd = Fan delay after
defrost Sets the behavior of the fan relay output to turn ON after defrost by delaying the fan ON by this time setting.
0= disabled. IMPORTANT: If the drip time is set above 0, add the drip time
and the delay of fan time desired to set the fan ON time to a delayed time
after drip.
Fan Probe Defr FAP = Probe Selection for

Defr Interval idF = Interval between
defrosts Selects the time interval between the beginning of two defrost cycles. When in communication to the E2, this setting works as a back up. If the
E2 lost communication to the device, the device would defrost at the
interval setting. If the device is to be used in stand-alone mode, DEFR
STARTUP (dPo) must be set to YES. In order for the interval defrost to
work, the controller must be started with DEFR STARTUP (dPo) set to
YES, so the device can reference the first defrost time in order to
determine the next defrost at interval.
