NOTICE
This installation guide provides basic guidelines for Rosemount 0085 Pipe Clamp Sensor. It
does not provide instructions for configuration, diagnostics, maintenance, service,
troubleshooting, Explosion-proof, Flameproof, or intrinsically safe (I.S.) installations. Refer to
the Rosemount 0085 Pipe Clamp Sensor reference manual (document number
00809-0100-4952) for more instruction. This manual is also available electronically on
www.rosemount.com.
If the 0085 Pipe Clamp Sensor was ordered assembled to a Rosemount temperature
transmitter, see the appropriate Quick Installation Guide for information on configuration

Step 1: Location and Orientation
The Pipe Clamp Sensor should be mounted in a secure position to ensure there is
no rotational movement after installation. The mounting best practice is to install
the sensor vertically; however, the sensor can be mounted horizontally.

Step 2: Mount Pipe Clamp Sensor
Tools required during setup include the following:
•"Open end or combination wrenches (spanners) pipe clamp bolts and nuts: 16mm
(11/16-in), 18mm (3/4-in), 24mm (1-in), 30mm (13/16-in), 36mm (1 7/16-in).
•"Adjustable wrench: 40-in. (1 1/2-in) jaw.
•"Standard screwdrivers: 3.5mm (1/8-in) and 6mm (1/4-in).
•"Phillip's screwdriver: #1.
•"Hex wrench: 3mm (9/64-in).
•"Wire cutters/strippers.
Supplies required include the following:
•"Pipe compound of PTFE tape (where local piping codes allow).
Ensure that there is adequate contact between the pipe and sensor tip.
Step 3: Mount and Wire Transmitter
See appropriate transmitter reference manual for transmitter commissioning
instructions and sensor-transmitter wiring and installation.
Single Element Dual Element
NOTE: For 3-wire systems use one White and two Red leads. Do not common the White leads. Insulate or terminate
the unused White lead in a manner that prevents shorting to the ground. For 2-wire systems, common both sets of
leads.
