PREPARATIONFORUSE
UNPACKINGAND SET-UP
•Removethe mainunitand speakersfromthe carton and removeall packing
materialsfromthe components.Pleasesavethe carton and packing materials,
ifpossible,incasethe uniteverneedstobe returned forservice.The original
carton and packing materialsarethe onlywaytoprotectthe unitfromdamage
intransit.
•Removeanydescriptivelabelsorstickersfromthe frontortop ofthe units.Do
notremoveanylabelsfromthe back orbottomofthe units.
•Somesystemsareshippedwithapaper/cardboard“disc”intheCDcompartment.
The purposeofthis“disc”istopreventthe delicatelaserfrommoving during
shipment. Press the CDOPENbutton toopen the CDdoor.If thereisanypaper/
cardboarddisc inthe compartment, carefullyremoveand discarditnow.
•Removethe twist-tiefromthe ACpowercordand extend ittoitsfull length.
•Unwind the FMlead wireantenna and extend ittoitsfull length.
•Placethe mainunitinthe desired location.It shouldbe on alevelsurface,
convenienttoan ACoutlet, and awayfromdirectsunlightorsourcesofheat,
dust, moistureorhumidity.Donotblock the ventilation slotson the back ofthe
mainunit.
•Setthe FMMODE(BEATCUT)switchon the back paneltothe STEREO
position,ifnecessary.
SPEAKERCONNECTION
•Connectthe speakersbeforeyou plug the unitin.
•Unwind the speakercordscompletelyand connectthe speakerplugstothe left/
rightspeakerjacks on the back panel.
•You mayplacethe speakersalongside the mainunitorseparatethemasfaras
the cordswill allowformaximumstereo separation.
Note:If you do placethe speakersalongside the mainunit, itisrecommended to
allowasmall gap between the unitand the speakers.Thiswill reducethe
possibilityofthe CD playerskipping when the setisplayed athigh volume.

•You maywrap anyexcess speakerwirearound the wireholderson the back of
eachspeakercabinet.
POWERSUPPLY
•Afterconnecting the speakersand extending the FMlead wireantenna as
described above,you arereadytoconnectthe ACplug toa110 -120V60HzAC
outlet.
•Thisunithasapolarized ACplug withone wide blade and one narrowblade.
Thisplug will onlyfitintoamatching polarized ACoutlet. Thisisasafetyfeature
toreducethe possibilityofelectricshock.If thisplug will notfitinyourACoutlet,
you probablyhavean outdated non-polarized outlet. You shouldhaveyour
outdated outletchanged byaqualified,licensed electrician.Donotfilethe wide
blade on the plug,orusean adaptertomakethe plug fitintoyouroutlet. This
defeatsthe safetyfeatureand couldexposeyou toelectricshock.
•Thissetisdesigned tooperateon 110 -120V60HzAChousecurrentonly.
Operating thisseton anyotherpowersupplymaycausedamage tothe unit
whichisnotcovered byyourwarranty.

Notes:
•Makesurethatthe FMantenna isextended toitsfull length.
•Makesurethatthe FMMODEswitch(ontheback cabinet)issettothe STEREO
position.
1.Setthe Function selectorto‘RADIO’.
2.Setthe Band selectortothe desired band,‘AM’or‘FM’.
3.Press the POWERbutton toturnthe unit‘On’.
4.Tune tothe desired station withthe TUNINGknob.
Note:If you tune toan FMstation whichisbroadcasting instereo,the FMSTEREO
LEDindicatorcomeson.
5.Adjustthe VOLUMEcontroltothe desired level.
6.When you arefinished listening,press the POWERbutton againtoturnthe unit
‘Off’.The POWERLEDindicatorgoesoff.
HINTSFORBETTERRECEPTION
FM:The FMlead wireantenna on the back panelshouldbe extended toitsfull
length.You mayalsohavetovarythe direction ofthisantenna until you find
the position thatprovidesthe bestreception.
AM:The AMbarantenna isinside the cabinetofthe mainunit. You mayneed to
change the position ofthe mainunituntil you find the position thatprovidesthe
bestreception foryourfavoriteAMstations.

PLAYINGCOMPACTDISCS
NORMALPLAYBACK
1.PressthePOWERbuttontoturntheunit‘On’.ThePOWERLEDindicatorcomes
on.
2.Setthe Function selectortoCD.Twodashes“––”appearinthe CD display.
Thisindicatesthatthereisno disc inthe player,orthatthe playercannotread
the disc.
3.Press the CD doorOPENbutton.
4.PlaceaCD on the centerspindlewiththe printed labelside facing up and close
the CD door.
5.The playerwill read the TableofContentson the disc and the displaywill show
the totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
6.Press the CD PLAY/PAUSE button.Playback will beginon Track 1.The
displayshowsthe numberofthe track being played and the Play/PauseLED
Indicator“Dot”comeson.
7.Adjustthe VOLUMEcontrol,asdesired.
8.Afterthe lasttrack hasbeen played,the disc stopsand the displayagainshows
the totalnumberoftracks on the disc.The LEDPlay/PauseIndicator“Dot”goes
off.
Tostop playback beforethe disc ends,press the STOPbutton.The disc stops
immediatelyand the displayshowsthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
CD PAUSE CONTROL
Tostop CD playback temporarily,press the PLAY/PAUSE button againduring
playback.The sound stopsand the Play/PauseIndicator“Dot”,whichfollowsthe
track number,flashestoindicateyou areinPausemode.However,the disc
continuestospin.Press the PLAY/PAUSE button oncemoretocancelPause
and resumeplayback.The sound returnsand the Play/PauseIndicatorstops
flashing.

TOBEGINPLAYBACK FROMASPECIFICTRACK
1. Insertyourdisc and waituntil the displayshowsthe totalnumberoftracks.
2.Press eitherthe SkipForwardorReversebutton until the desired track
numberflashesinthe display.Then press the PLAY/PAUSE button tostart
playback on thattrack.
Note:You mustpress the PLAY/PAUSE button within4secondsafterselecting
the track numberorthe displaywill returntothe totaltrack numberdisplay.
TOSKIPTRACKSDURINGPLAYBACK
•Press the SkipForwardbutton onceduring playback toskiptothe beginning
ofthe nexttrack.Press repeatedlytoskiptohighernumbered tracks.
•PresstheSkipReversebuttononceduringplaybacktoreturntothebeginning
ofthe currenttrack.Press repeatedlytoskiptolowernumbered tracks.
HIGH-SPEEDMUSICSEARCH
Thisfeatureallowsyou tosearchforwardorbackwardathigh speed tolocatea
specificmusicalpassage withinatrack.
•Tosearchforwardorbackwardduring playback,depress and holdthe Skip/
SearchForwardorReversebuttons.The playermovesforwardor
backwardathigh-speed.Releasethe button when you locatethe desired
passage.Normalplayback resumeswhen the Searchbuttonsarereleased.
Note:The volumeisautomaticallyreduced during high-speed searchand returns
tonormalwhen normalplayback resumes.

PROGRAMMEDPLAYBACK
Thisfeatureallowsyou toprogramup to19 tracks on aCD toplayinanyorder
you desire.You can programthe playertoskipthe tracks you do notlikeand to
repeatthe tracks you do like.
Note:The CD playermustbe inthe Stop mode inordertoenteraprograminthe
Memory.
1. If the disc isplaying,press the STOPbutton sothatthe totalnumberof
tracks appearson the display.
2.Press the PROGRAMbuttononce.The
PROGRAMLEDIndicatorbeginsto
flash,and aflashing ‘Zero’“0”appears
inthe display.
3.Press eitherthe SkipForwardor
Reversebutton toselectthe first
track you wishtoprogram.
Example:Track #7.
The selected track numberflashesin
the display.
4.Press the PROGRAMbutton againto
enterthe selected track numberinthe
programMemory.The track number
disappearsand the flashing ‘Zero’“0”
returns.
5.RepeatSteps3and 4tocontinue
entering tracksintheprogramMemory.
You mayprogramtracks toplaymore
than once,ifdesired.You can program
up to19 tracks total.
6.When you havefinished entering tracks inthe programmemory,press the
PLAY/PAUSE button tobeginprogrammed playback.The displaywill show
the track numberofthe firsttrack you entered and playback will beginon that
track.The PROGRAMLEDIndicatorcontinuesflashing until all the
programmed tracks haveplayed.When the lasttrack hasplayed,the player
stops,the PROGRAMLEDIndicatorgoes‘Off’,and the displayagainshows
the totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
