UNPACKINGAND SET-UP
•Carefullyremovethe unitfromthe carton and removeall packing material
fromthe unit.
•Removeanylabelsorstickerswhichmaybe on the frontortop ofthe set, but
do notremoveanylabelsfromthe back orbottom.
•Wesuggestthatyou retainthe originalcarton and packing materialsincaseit
everbecomesnecessarytoreturnyourunitforservice.Thisisthe onlysure
waytoprotectthe unitfromdamage intransit.
•If you do disposeofthe carton and packing materials,pleasedo soproperly.
Emerson caresaboutourenvironment.
•Press the CD DOOROPENbutton and removethe dummyCD transit
protection cardfromthe CD mechanism.Discardit.
PREPARATIONFORUSE
SPEAKERCONNECTION
Connecteachspeakertothe corresponding speakerterminalson the back panel
ofthe mainunit. Makesurethatthe left speakerisconnected tothe left (L)pairof
speakerterminalsand the rightspeakertothe right(R)pairofspeakerterminals.
Alsomakesurethatthe speakerwiresarecorrectlyconnected:thatthe red wires
areconnected tothe red terminalsand the black wirestothe black terminals.
Depress the plasticlevertoopen the terminal,insertthe bareend ofthe speaker
wireintothe opening and release.

2.)Insertthe plug intoanyconvenient120V60HzACoutlet.
POWERSOURCE
Thissystemisdesigned tooperateon 120V60HzAChousecurrent.Connecting
thissystemtoanyotherpowersupplycouldresultindamage tothe unitwhichis
notcovered byyourwarranty.You will notethatthissystemisequipped witha
polarized ACpowerplug having one blade widerthan the other.Thisisasafety
feature.If thisplug doesnotfitintoyourexistingACoutlet, do nottrytodefeatthis
safetyfeaturebyfiling the wide blade tomakeitfitintoyouroutlet. If thisplug will
notfitintoyouroutlet, you probablyhavean out-dated non-polarized ACoutlet.

RemoteSensormaybe degraded,causing unreliableoperation.

1.Useonlythe sizeand type ofbatteriesspecified.
2.Besuretofollowthe correctpolaritywhen installing the batteriesasindicated inthe battery

LISTENINGTORADIO
TUNERINFORMATION
ThissystemfeaturesanormalAM/FManalog tuning system.Unlikeadigitaltuner
itdoesnotautomaticallylock inon the exactfrequency ofastation.However
instead ofadialscaleandamovingdialpointerwehaveincluded adigitalfrequency
displaytohelpyou tune moreaccurately.Donotbe concerned ifyou cannoteasily
tune the displaytothe exactfrequency ofyourfavoritestations,especiallyon the
AMband.Slowlyrotatethe TUNINGcontroluntil the displayapproachesthe
frequency ofthe desired station and stop when getthe strongest, noisefree
reception-evenifthedisplayisnotindicatingthe exactfrequencyofdesired station.
VOLUMEAND BASS BOOSTCONTROLS
ThismodelfeatureselectronicUP/DOWNvolumecontrolson boththe
mainunitand the remotehandset. Press the VOLUMEUPorDOWN
button toraiseorlowerthe volume.
Slide the BASS BOOSTswitchon the mainunittothe 'ON'position to
provide increased bass response,especiallyatlowervolumelevels.If you
arelistening tomusicwithheavy bass athigh volumelevelsslide the BASS
BOOSTswitchtothe 'OFF'position topreventdistortion.

OPERATION
1.)Press the POWERbutton on the mainunitorthe remotecontrol.The main
displaylighting comes‘On’and the STANDBY LEDindicatorgoes‘Off’.
2.)Selectthe Radiofunction byswitching the CD/RADIOselectortoRADIO
position.
3.)Selectthe desired band (AM,FMorFMST.)withthe Band selectorswitch.
4.)Rotatethe TUNINGcontroluntil the exact
frequency ofthe desired station appearson
the display.If you havetuned toan FM
Stereo stationand theBandselectorissetto
FMST,the stereo indicatorwill appearinthe
display.
Note:If you arelistening toaweakordistantFMStereo station and
reception fadesorisnoisy,setting the Band selectortothe FMposition
will normallyprovide someimprovement. Howeverthe sound will no
longerbe instereo.
5.)AdjustVOLUMEleveland BASS BOOSTcontrolasdesired.
6.)When you arefinished listening press the POWERbutton on the mainunit
ortheremotecontroltoturnthe power'Off'.The maindisplaylightinggoes'Off'
and the STANDBY LEDindicatorcomes'On'again.

ForFMreception thereisabuilt-inFMantenna wireatthe rearofthe unit. Unravel
the wireand moveitaround toobtainthe bestreception.

TheAMbarantenna isinside the cabinet. ToimproveAMreception,you mayhave
tomoveorslightlyrotatethe mainunituntil you obtainthe bestreception.

1.)Press the POWERbutton on the mainunitorthe remotecontrol.The main
displaylighting comes'On'and the STANDBY LEDindicatorgoes'Off'.
2.)Setthe CD/RADIOselectortothe CD position.
Twobars"––"will flashinthe displayforafew
secondswhilethe playertriestoread the disc
and then "00"will appear,indicating thatthereis
no disc inthe player.
3.)PresstheCDdoorOPENbuttontoopen
the CD door.PlaceaCD on the center
spindlewiththeprintedlabelsidefacingup.
Gentlypress downon the disc nearthe
centerholetomakesurethatthe disc is
properly'seated'on the spindle.
4.)Press downon the CD dooruntil itcloses
completelyand locks.The disc will begintospin
forafewsecondswhiletheplayerreadsthetable
ofcontents,thenthediscwill stopandthedisplay
will showthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
5.)Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobegin
playback.The PLAY indicatorappearsinthe
displayand playback beginson track 1.
6.)Adjustthe VOLUMEand BASS BOOSTcontrolsasdesired.
7.)When the lasttrack hasplayed the disc stopsautomatically.Tostop playback
atanytimebeforethe disc endspress the STOPbutton.The displayagain
showsthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.

Tostartplayback fromaspecifictrack insert

You can repeateitherasingletrack orthe entiredisc continuously.Repeatfunction
canbe activatedwhilethe discisplayingorwhilethedisc isstopped,buttheremust
be adisc inthe player.
To RepeatASingleTrack:
•Press the orbutton toselectthe desired track.
•Press the REPEATbutton once.The REPEAT
indicatorflashes.
•Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobegin
playback.The selected track will be repeated
continuously.
To RepeatTheEntireDisc
•Press the REPEATbutton twice.The REPEAT
indicatorremains'On'.
•Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobegin
playback.The entiredisc will be repeated
continuously.

Press the REPEATbutton until the REPEATindicatordisappears,orpress the
STOPbutton.Repeatfunction will alsobe canceled ifyou open the CD dooror

The Randomfunction can be activated whilethe disc isplaying orwhilethe disc is
stopped,buttheremustbe adisc inthe player.
•Load yourdisc and waituntil the totaltracks appearon the display.
•Press the RANDOMbutton on the remotecontrol.The RANDOMindicator
appearsinthe display.
•Press the PLAY/PAUSE button.The PLAY
indicatoralsoappears.The playerwill selecta
track atrandomand beginplayback.Afterall
tracks haveplayed inrandomorderthe player
stopsautomaticallyandthe displayagainshows
the totaltracks.
TocancelRandomplayback press the RANDOMbutton until the RANDOM
indicatordisappears.You mayalsocancelthe Randomfunction bypressing the

Notes:
•You can programup to20 tracks on adisc toplayback inanydesired
order.The sametrack numbercan be programmed toplayseveral
timesifdesired.
•Thereisno PROGRAMbutton on the remotecontrol.The PROGRAM
button islocated on the mainunitonly.
•The playermustbe inthe Stop mode toenteraprogram.You cannot
enteraprogramwhileadisc isplaying.
1.)Load yourdisc andwaitforthetotaltracks toappear.If the disc isplaying press
the STOPbutton and waitforthe totaltracks toappear.
2.)Press the PROGRAMbutton on the mainunit.

"01"beginflashing inthe display.
3.)Press the SKIP/SEARCH (/)buttonsto
selectthe firsttrack tobe programmed.
(Example:Track Number7).
4.)When the desired track numberappearsinthe

numberadvancesto"02".
5.)Press the /buttonstoselectthenexttrack tobeprogrammed.When the
desired track numberappearsinthe displaypress the PROGRAMbutton to
enterthattrack inthe programmemoryand advancethe displaytothe next
programnumber.
6.)RepeatStep 5until you haveentered up to20 tracks inthe memory.

7.)Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobegin
programmed playback.The PLAY indicator
appearstogetherwiththe PROGRAMindicator.
Playback will beginon the firstprogrammed
track and continue until all ofthe programmed
tracks havebeen played.
Note:If the /SKIP/SEARCH button arepressed during programmed
playback the playerwill skipforwardorback tothe nexttrack inthe
programmed sequence,notthe nexttrack on the disc.
Afterall oftheprogrammed tracks havebeenplayed theplayerstopsand thePLAY
indicatordisappears.Butthe PROGRAMindicatorremainsinthe displayand the
programmed sequenceremainsinthe memory.If you press the PLAY/PAUSE
button the programmed sequencewill playagain.Tocancelthe programfrom

MUTECONTROL(OnRemoteControlOnly)
Toshutoff the sound ofthe radioorthe CD temporarilypress the MUTEbutton on
theremotecontrol.Thespeakersshutoff andthe STANDBYLEDindicatorflashes.
PresstheMUTEbuttonagaintocancelmuteandrestorethesound.TheSTANDBY
LEDindicatorgoes'Off'.
