1.0 Introduction
This manual provides the steps to uncrate, assemble, and install the
ETS-Lindgren Model 5411 Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic
(GTEM!™) Cell. Steps to install optional components are also included.
The uncrating, assembly, and installation of the Model 5411 must be
performed by factory installation specialists or individuals authorized by
ETS-Lindgren to perform installation. The information in this manual is
intended to be used only by those installation specialists.

Prior to operation, make sure all hardware is in place and securely fastened.

use of your Model 5411.

2.0 Receiving Your Order
Before unpacking your Model 5411 Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic
(GTEM!™) Cell, see GTEM! Uncrating Instructions on page 17.
Unpacking and Acceptance
1. Upon delivery of your order, inspect the shipping container(s) for evidence of
damage. Record any damage on the delivery receipt before signing it. In case of
concealed damage or loss, retain the packing materials for inspection by the carrier.
2. Remove the product from its shipping container(s). Save the container(s) and any
protective packing materials for future use.
3. Check all materials against the packing list to verify that the equipment you received
matches what was ordered. If you find any discrepancies, note them and call
ETS-Lindgren Customer Service for further instructions.
Make sure you are satisfied with the contents and condition of your order prior to
placing the product into service.
Disposal of Packaging
Upon completion of the performance verification (see Verify Performance on
page 67), appropriately discard packaging, crating, and shipping materials.
Service Procedures
To return a system or system component for service:
1. Contact ETS-Lindgren Customer Service to obtain a Service Request Order (SRO).
2. Briefly describe the problem in writing. Give details regarding the observed
symptom(s) or error codes, and whether the problem is constant or intermittent in
nature. Please include the date(s), the service representative you spoke with, and the
nature of the conversation. Include the serial number of the item being returned.

3. Package the system or component carefully. If possible, use the original packing
materials to return a system or system component to ETS-Lindgren at the following

3.0 Before You Begin GTEM! Assembly
Before assembling or installing any components, follow the
safety information in the ETS-Lindgren Product Information
Bulletin included with your shipment.
To verify proper alignment and performance, your Model 5411 Gigahertz
Transverse Electromagnetic (GTEM!™) Cell was partially assembled and tested
at the factory. When you receive your Model 5411, a minimal amount of screws
will be installed. During assembly at your location, install the remaining required
hardware and verify that all parts are accounted for and secure.
Install all screws firmly and flush with surfaces. Torque is not required except in
the assembly of the door to the doorframe, which was pre-assembled at the
factory.
To avoid damage to surfaces and fixtures, use care when
assembling inside the Model 5411.
Electrical Requirements
For electrical safety, the Model 5411 should be bonded to good low
impedance ground. This will remove any stray circulating currents from the
skin of the Model 5411 during emission and immunity testing.
Required Tools
The following hardware and other supplies are required to uncrate, assemble,
and install the Model 5411 and components.
 #2 Phillips screwdriver or power screw gun with choke
 #3 Phillips screwdriver or power screw gun with choke
 #3 Flat-head screwdriver
 Two 12-in crescent wrenches or channel lock-type pliers
 Claw or framing hammer
 Crow or pry bar
 Metric sockets with ratchet

 Metric boxed and open-end wrenches
 1/4-in or smaller alignment tool (for example, awl, steel rod, drill rod)
 Two 8-ft to 10-ft step ladders
 Flashlight or utility light
 Wax (DoAll-type, or comparable)
 Isopropyl rubbing alcohol and wipes

Correctly Install Bronze Wool
Bronze wool (RP52201) must be tucked into the corners of the inner and outer
corner joints and wall and roof assemblies.
Using TAPTITE Screws
Wax (DoAll-type, or comparable) is required on all TAPTITE® screws. No flat or
lock washers are necessary. Once tightened, do not remove.

Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate
to the task you are performing, such as gloves, safety glasses,
and steel-toed boots.
The uncrating process will expose sharp nails and fasteners.
Wear appropriate PPE and use caution when handling these
items.
Some of the components and assemblies are heavy. Obtain
assistance in handling heavy items, and always handle all
components and assemblies with care.
Inventory Uncrated Components
You must inventory each component when unpacking it from the crate. Follow
these guidelines to properly unpack and inventory components:
1. Unpack each crate as indicated in the next section,
Uncrate Components. Use the Audit Checklist on page 19 to inventory
each component received and unpacked.
2. Carefully place each component in a safe and protected location. Keep
items together so that an accurate inventory can be performed, and so
each component can be located when assembling the Model 5411
Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic (GTEM!™) Cell.
The Audit Checklist of items and quantities shipped is organized by Crate A,
Crate B, Crate C, and Crate D. The checklist applies to a standard
Model 5411 configuration. Items and quantities may vary for custom
Model 5411 configurations. In many cases, some additional hardware is
included to offset potential loss.

Uncrate Components
A standard Model 5411 configuration is typically shipped in the four crates,
Crate A, Crate B, Crate C, and Crate D. The number and size of shipping crates
may vary for custom Model 5411 configurations.
See Required Tools on page 11 for the list of hardware and other supplies
required to uncrate, assemble, and install the Model 5411 and components.
CRATE A
1. Remove the top of the crate and inspect contents for damage, shifting, or loss of
materials.
2. Remove screws, nails, or staples from the crate walls, beginning from the bottom and
working to the top. Remove top screws on each side last.
3. Remove foot blocks, and then unlock the caster wheel brakes on the
frame assembly.
The section 500 is not attached to the frame assembly.
4. With assistance from several crewmembers, remove the section 500 and
frame assembly from the crate by lifting from the frame assembly. Do not lift from the
section 500, because it is not attached to the frame assembly. Be careful of
extrusions that extend below the floor panel.
5. Place the section 500 and frame assembly in an open work area and re-lock the
caster wheel brakes.
6. Remove all remaining items from the crate.
CRATE B, CRATE C, AND CRATE D
7. To unpack, repeat steps 1–3 as detailed in Crate A in the previous section.
