• Congratulations for purchasing the video interface FT-VF-FRD3.
• Please, read this manual with attention before installing your new device.
• Keep this manual with you in order to check the functioning procedures and
the security information.
• We recommend that a professional, with experience in the field of installation
of vehicle devices, is the one to install this interface.
• The car ignition must be off during all the installation process.

Video visualization is strictly forbidden to the vehicle’s driver. The visualization of video is
reserved only to the passengers in the vehicle. FAAFTECH holds no responsibility over
eventual damaged caused by the poor usage of this function.
Important Notice:
*Front camera is not available for vehicles without the original manufacturer’s rear camera.
PRESENTATION
CHARACTERISTICS

Follow these instructions in case of installing this product on a car that did not
come with an original manufacturer’s rear camera. If the vehicle already has an
original manufacturer’s rear camera, proceed to the next page.
Make sure the original radio is connected to the vehicle and the ignition is on
before you do the following procedure.
1. Connect the FT-VF-FRD3 interface to the OBD whip that comes with the
installation kit;
2. Setup the interface’s DIP Switches according to the picture below;
3. Plug the OBD whip into the vehicle’s OBD connector in order to enable the
multimedia camera input. During this activation, the interface’s LED will blink
with a blue light, and the radio will reset, signaling that the multimedia has been
set.
4. After the radio resets, close the vehicle doors and lock the car for 2 minutes to
finish the activation process. After that, remove the whip and follow the
instructions on the next page.
Important notice: once you activate the camera on a vehicle, the interface will record that vehicle’s chassis
number. If you need to clean the interface’s memory to install it on another vehicle, you will have to deactivate
the camera on the current vehicle. In order to do so, repeat the procedure shown on this page, only setting
the DIP Switch 2 on the bottom of the interface to OFF.

Plug into the vehicle’s OBD connector, usually
located under the dashboard, close to the gear
and brake pedals.

Set up the interface’s DIP Switches while the equipment is unplugged from the
whip, and while the car ignition is off.
DIPs 2 and 3 on the “DVD and TV selection” select the model of the TV in order
to control it using the original commands. In case you are installing a TV or DVD
model not listed on the chart, ignore that setting.

Follow the instructions below to use the accessories that you chose to install on
the interface’s AV inputs:
1st Choose the AUX audio entry on the multimedia menu;
Note: if your vehicle doesn’t have an AUX entry, choose the FM bandwidth from
the FM transmitter used in the installation.
2nd Press the POWER* button for two seconds in order to access the AV
session of the interface;
3rd Once in the AV session, simply touch the POWER* button to alter between
the accessories installed on inputs AV1 and AV2;
4th To go back to the original multimedia menu, press and hold the POWER*
button for two seconds.
*Use the LOUDSPEAKER button on the steering
wheel commands to alter between AV1 and AV2
when you use this interface on a Ford Ecosport.
Use the POWER button on the dashboard to alter
between AV1 and AV2 in all vehicles, except for
the Ford Ecosport.

Use the car’s commands to control the DVD and the TV (if the DVD and TV
models are compatible with the interface).
Note: the steering wheel commands are not compatible with the Ford Focus.

When you put the car on reverse, then switch the gear to N or D, the front
camera will automatically appear on the screen. The camera will remain turned
on for 30 seconds, or until the car reaches the speed of 15 km/h (9.32 mph) or if
you press the BACK button on the steering wheel.
In addition to the automatic view of the camera, you can also access the camera
view at any moment by following these instructions:
• Press and hold the BACK button on the steering wheel for two seconds, in
order to view your rear camera; (rear camera visualization is not compatible with
Ford Ranger and Ford Ecosport)
• Simply touch the BACK button if you want to alter between the rear camera and
the front camera;
• Press and hold the BACK button on the steering wheel to exit the camera view
and return to the original menu.

On a Ford Focus, follow the same
steps above but, instead of using the
BACK button, use the dashboard’s
SOURCE button.

1. After installing the interface, the multimedia won’t turn on.
• Review the installation and check if the cables are connected according to the
images on page 3;
• Check if all the cables are well connected;
• Turn off the ignition, unplug the whip from the entertainment center, wait for 1
minute and replug the whip on the entertainment center again.
2. When I try to access AV1 or AV2, no sound will come out.
• Make sure the RCA “Audio Out” cable is connected to the multimedia audio in,
according to pictures on page 3;
• Check if you are selecting the AUX audio entry on the multimedia before
accessing the interface’s AV session.

Warranty
FAAFTECH assures their clients a 01 (one) year period against defects in
materials and workmanship, proved by presenting both the receipt of purchase
from the reseller to the costumer and the present Warranty Certificate filled,
observing the following:
1. FAAFTECH will null the warranty if Faaftech or their authorized technical
assistance concludes that the equipment suffered from damage caused by poor
usage, by inadequate installing, by accidents (crashes, falls, and others), or if
there are any signs of the product having been violated, adjusted or fixed by
non-authorized personnel;
2. The Warranty Certificate is only valid when filled and presented together
with the receipt from the reseller to the costumer, as well as the attendance
number that is generated by our Technical Support, which can be reached from
the numbers: +55 0800 603 2330 (landlines only) or +55 62 3241 4600. From
Mondays to Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (GMT -03:00).
3. Any repairs and maintenances of the equipment still covered by the warranty
will be exclusively handled by FAAFTECH.
4. This warranty will not cover any products with unreadable or adulterated serial
code numbers.
5. The expenses with shipping, securing and packaging are not covered by this
warranty, and they are the full responsibility of the owner of this equipment.
