USING THIS PRODUCT TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY, FIRE OR
ELECTRIC SHOCK.
When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read and understand all instructions.
2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
3. Unplug this product from the telephone line and ac adaptor before cleaning. Do not use
liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
4. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink,
or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool.
5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product may fall,
causing serious damage to the product.
6. Slots and openings in the enclosure and the back or bottom are provided for ventilation to
prevent overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings
should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar
surface. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. This
product should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided.
7. This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking
label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer.
8. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord of the ac adaptor. Do not locate this
product where the cord will be abused by persons walking on it.
9. Always plug the ac adaptor into an outlet that is easily accessible and near to the
equipment.
10. Never push objects of any kind into this product through enclosure slots as they may
touch voltage points or short out parts that could result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
11. Do not disassemble this product. Take it to a qualified service technician or service center when
repair work is required. Opening or removing covers may expose you to voltage or other risks.
Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used.
12. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer to qualified service personnel under the
following conditions:
a) When the power supply cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
b) If liquid has been spilled into the product.
c) If the product has been exposed to rain or water.
d) If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions.
Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions. Improper
adjustment of other controls may result in damage and may require extensive work
by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal operation.
e) If the product has been dropped or the enclosure has been damaged.
f) If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance.
13. Avoid using a telephone during a lightning storm. There may be a remote risk of electric
shock from lightning.
14. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of a leak.
15. Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
16. Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for
wet locations.

17. Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been
disconnected at the network interface.
18. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
For optimal performance it is recommended that this product is used on a conventional phone
line. Performance may vary with VOIP or other digital services.

The particular telephone line to which the equipment is connected.
a) This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the requirements adopted by
the ACTA. On the bottom of this equipment is a label that contains, among other
information, a product identifier in the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, this
number must be provided to the telephone company.
b) An applicable certification jacks Universal Service Order Codes (USOC) for the
equipment is provided (i.e., RJ11C) in the packaging with each piece of approved
terminal equipment.
c) A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone
network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by
the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is
designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See
installation instructions for details.
d) The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone
line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to
an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To
be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the
total RENs, contact the local telephone company. [For products approved after July 23, 2001,
the REN for this product is part of the product identifier that has the format
US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point
(e.g., 03 is a REN of 0.3). For earlier products, the REN is separately shown on the label.]
e) If this equipment SFA3275 causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone
company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be
required. But if advance notice isn't practical, the telephone company will notify the
customer as soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint
with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.
f) The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or
procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens the
telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you to make necessary
modifications to maintain uninterrupted service.

g) Should you experience trouble with this equipment, please contact Service Department,
Spectra Merchandising International, Inc at 4230 North Normandy, Chicago IL
60634, hotline: [phone] for repair or warranty information. If the equipment is
causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you
disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved.
h) Please follow instructions for repairing if any (e.g. battery replacement section);
otherwise do not alternate or repair any parts of device except specified.
i) Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility
commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information.
j) NOTICE: If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone
line, ensure the installation of this SFA3275 does not disable your alarm equipment. If
you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone
company or a qualified installer.
k) This equipment is hearing aid compatible.
NOTICE: According to telephone company reports, AC electrical surges, typically resulting
from lightning strikes, are very destructive to telephone equipment connected to AC power
sources. To minimize damage from these types of surges, a surge arrestor is recommended.
Applicable for Coin or Pay Phone Only
To comply with state tariffs, the telephone company must be given notification prior to
connection for customer-owned coin or credit card phone. In some states, the state public utility
commission, public service commission or corporation commission must give prior approval of
connection.
FCC PART 15 COMPLIANCE
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions:
(1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause
undesired operation.
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates,
uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with
the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does
cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning
the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or
more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE!!
This system is equipped with non-skid rubber ‘feet’ to prevent the product from moving when
you operate the controls. These ‘feet’ are made from non-migrating rubber material specially
formulated to avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil
based furniture polishes, wood preservatives, or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber ‘feet’ to
soften, and leave marks or a rubber residue on the furniture. To prevent any damage to your
furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small self-adhesive felt pads, available at
hardware stores and home improvement centers everywhere, and apply these pads to the
bottom of the rubber ‘feet’ before you place the product on fine wooden furniture.

INSTALLATION
CONNECTING THE TELEPHONE
1. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL.LINE JACK at the back of the
telephone base.
2. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into the wall outlet.
3. Plug one end of the coiled cord into the handset's modular jack.
4. Plug the other end of the coiled cord into the HANDSET JACK on the left side of the
telephone.
INSTALLING BACKUP BATTERIES
Your telephone requires four AAA (UM-4) batteries (not included) for backup. When the “ ”
icon appears on the display or if the display gets dim, replace all the batteries with four fresh
“AAA” size (UM-4) ones.
Note: The telephone numbers in memory are stored in non-volatile flash memory which does
not require battery power for backup.
INSTALLING BATTERIES INTO THE TELEPHONE
1. Unscrew the BATTERY COVER SCREW and open the BATTERY COMPARTMENT
COVER located on bottom of cabinet.
2. Insert four DC1.5V “AAA” size (UM-4) alkaline batteries (not included) into the
Battery Compartment following the polarity markings as indicated in the compartment.
3. Snap the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER back into place and tighten the BATTERY
COVER SCREW.
BATTERY CARE
Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.

If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Old or
leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and
rupture (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions).
Do not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may explode or leak.
MOUNTING THE DESKTOP STAND
Two different mounting options are available for the DESKTOP STAND. Insert the stand into
the corresponding slots on the bottom of the telephone for a more comfortable viewing angle.
OPTION A will tilt the phone at a 49 degree angle, and OPTION B is at a 30 degree angle.
ATTACHING THE STAND
1. Place the main unit, keypad side down on a soft stable surface.
2. For OPTION A (49 degree angle), refer to the following diagram:
Align and insert the “A” tabs on the stand into the wider openings of the DESKTOP
STAND MOUNTING SLOTS located on the bottom of the SFA3275.
When the hooks are properly inserted, carefully slide the DESKTOP STAND forward
with both hands until it reaches the end of the slots and locks into place.
3. Turn the unit over, and place it on a firm flat surface.
Note: The same procedures applies for mounting OPTION B (30 degree angle), just align and
insert the “B” tabs on the stand into the base.
DETACHING THE STAND
1. Place the main unit, keypad side down on a soft stable surface.
2. To remove the STAND for either mounting option, refer to the following diagram:
Carefully slide the DESKTOP STAND backward horizontally as shown with both hands
until it aligns with the wider openings of the DESKTOP STAND MOUNTING SLOTS.
Carefully pull the STAND out of the base openings.

MOUNTING THE PHONE ON A WALL
The phone may be mounted on a suitable wall or other vertical surface by following the
directions below.
Select an area of the wall where you would like to hang your phone and make sure there are no
pipes or electrical cables located behind the wall in this area.
Caution: Cables and wiring to electrical switches and sockets usually run vertically in the
wall. Do not mount your phone directly above or below an electric switch or socket unless you
are sure that the cables will not be damaged when attaching the screws (screws and plastic
anchors are not included).
1. Drill two holes vertically, one above the other, 3-1/4” (83mm) apart, and leave the screw
heads protruding from the wall by about 3/16” (5mm).
Note: Adjust the amount that the screw heads protrude from the wall so that the
phone sits flat against the wall when mounted.
2. Press and lift out the HANDSET HOLDER and
rotate it 180 degrees to expose the hanging tab.
Place the HANDSET HOLDER back into place so
it will hold the HANDSET in place when the phone
is mounted on the wall.
3. Plug one end of the TELEPHONE LINE CORD into the TELEPHONE LINE JACK at the
bottom of the base.
4. Plug the other end of the LINE CORD into the wall plate jack, then align the base's
KEYHOLE SLOTS with the screws and slide the telephone unit downward to secure it.

SETUP MENU
There are 11 different functions in the setup menu for this telephone.
You can press and hold the SET BUTTON to enter the setup menu and press it repeatedly to
access each of the function one by one as follows:

Language
Select the desired display language from 10 options: English (default),
French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, Swedish, German, Dutch,
Turkish
LCD Contrast
Adjusts the contrast level of the LCD panel for easy reading.
Options are: 1 – 5 and the default is 4.
Enter Date & Time
Enter the time and date information
Local Code
Set the 5 digit local code
Prefix
Set the 3 digit prefix
Ringer Melody
Select your favorite ringer sound from 16 melodies
Ringer Volume
Set the ringer volume level from 1 to 7 or turn it OFF completely
Flash
Set the flash time.
Options are: 100, 200, 300, 400, 600 (default), 900 ms
Pause
Set the interdigit pause time
Options are: 1.2, 2.4 (default), 3.6 seconds
Dial in DTMF/PULSE
Set the dialing mode between tone (default) or pulse.
DTMF duration
Adjust the tone dialing format precisely if there are difficulties in
accessing certain DTMF controlled functions such as phone banking.
We recommend you to keep the default settings and do not try to
modify them if DTMF (tone) dialing and operations are normal.
SETTING THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE
1. Press and hold the SET BUTTON to enter the setup menu.
2. Select the desired display language from 10 options English (default), French, Spanish,
Portuguese, Polish, Italian, Swedish, German, Dutch and Turkish using 

confirm with the SET BUTTON.
3. The display now shows to “SET LCD CONTRAST”, you can refer to next section to set
the contrast level of the LCD DISPLAY or pick up the HANDSET to exit the setup mode.
SETTING THE CONTRAST OF THE LCD DISPLAY
1. Press and hold the SET BUTTON to enter the setup menu.
2. Press the SET BUTTON again. “SET LCD CONTRAST” is shown with the current
“contrast” setting flashing.
3. Press 
or to select the desired contrast level and confirm with the SET BUTTON.
4. Pick up the HANDSET to exit the setup mode.
SETTING THE DATE AND TIME
1. Press and hold the SET BUTTON to enter the setup menu.
2. Press the SET BUTTON repeatedly until the current “year” digits are flashing.
3. Select the correct year using the 
