5.2 Charging the Ni-Cd batteries
The transmitter and rec e i v e r b a t teries included with you
FS-TH9X system are recharg e a b l e ,Ni-C d batteries.Ni-C d
batteries require special c a r e and c h a r g ing.
NOTE:T h e batteries are partially charged,b u t will require
a full, overnight charge before the model may be flown.
1.Connect the t r a n s m i t t er charging cord coming from the
A/C wall charger t o t h e c h a r g e jack in the right side of
the transmitter case. The receive r c h a r g i n g c ord may be
connected to the batt e r i e s two d i f f erent ways:The charge
cord may be connec t e d d i r e c t ly to the battery pack, or to
the vacant charge co n n e c t o r (llack)coming from the on/off
switch in t h e model.C h a r g i ng"through the switch"is preferred
as there will be no n e e d d i s c o nnect the battery.
2.Plug the A/C wall charger into a wall outlet.Note:I f t h e w a l l o u t let can be turned
off by a switch i n t h e romm, b e certain t h e s w itch remains on after leaving the room.
Otherwi s e ,the batteries will n o t b e charged!
3.The LEDs(light-emitting diodes)shoul d light red, indicating that c urrent is flowing
and the batteries are b e i n g c h a r g ed.Discharged batteries will tak e about 1 5 h o u r s t o
fully cha r g e .I f u s i ng an aftermarket fast charger,be certain to follow the manufact u r e r 's
instruc t i o n s provided w i t h the charger so you do not overcharge the batteries.NEVER
charge the ba t t e r i e s a t a r ate higher than 1000mA.The batteries should al s o b e discharged
periodi c a l l y t o periodically t o prevent a condition called"m emory".If,for example,
only two flights are mo d e e a c h t i m e you go flying,the batteries will not have"reached
"very far do w n i n t o t h e ir full capacity.After doing this several times the batteries
will"rem e m b e r "a n d eventually"t hink"they can supply only enougt power for two fights.
After two flights t h e b a t t e r ies may not provide enough power to operate the syst e m ,
thus causing a cras h .T o erase a n y p o t ential memory,cycle the batteries by discharging,
then char g i n g t h e m w ith a commercial battery cycler,or leave the system on and exercise
the servo s b y moving t h e t r a n smitter sticks until the even during t h e winter o r periods
of long storage.If us i n g a cycler w i t h a readout,n o te the cajpacity after the batteries
have been c y c l e d .I f t here is a noticeable drop in capacity the batteries should be
replace d .
NOTE :charging your batt e r i e s w i t h the included FLYSKY A/C battery charger is always
safe.However,fast-chargin g w i t h a n a f t e rmarket charger is acceptable as lo n g a s you
know how to p r o p e r l y o perate the charger,NEVER charge at a rate higher t h a n 1000mA.I f
not done co r r e c t l y ,fast-charging can damage the batteries.
