1. MOUNTING
1.1 IP Handset
The IP Handset functions as a display and it may also be used for normal voice com-
munication. A maximum of 16 units can be installed anywhere onboard the vessel.
The IP Handset is provided with a cradle assembly (chassis cradle and cradle). The
assembly is designed for both bulkhead and desktop installations, with cable entries
for both methods.
1. To use the rear cable entry, make a hole of 18 mm (0.71") diameter in the instal-
lation site. See the outline drawing at the rear of this manual for details.
2. Install the chassis cradle with three self-tapping screws (320).
3. Connect the curled cord from the IP Handset to the RJ-45 port indicated in the
above figure.
Note: To avoid possible faults in the IP Handset, do not plug or unplug the hand-
set while the Communication Unit or PoE hub (local supply) are turned on.
4. Secure the curled cord with a cable tie (supplied).
Do not apply paint, anti-corrosive sealant or contact
spray to coating or plastic parts of the equipment.
Those items contain organic solvents that can damage
coating and plastic parts, especially plastic connectors.

Note: For how to fabricate the LAN cable, see section 1.2.
6. Fit the cradle to the chassis cradle, fit the supplied nylon washers to the four self-

1.2 LAN Cable Fabrication
Fabricate the LAN cable (MOD-Z072-050 (5 m), supplied as installation materials) be-
tween the communication unit and cradle (IP handset) as follows. The optional FR-
FTPC-CY cable (10, 20, 30 or 50 m) is available for the IP handset.
Note: This equipment can use either straight or crossover cables.
Expose inner vinyl sheath. Remove the inner vinyl sheath by
approx. 25 mm. Be careful not to
damage inner shield and cores.
Fold back the shield, wrap it onto
the inner vinyl sheath and cut it,
