Freezing up
If you notice that your air mnditioner is not cooling
as it
shoult it maybe that i= has formed on the
cooling
cofis. The iee blocks air flow and stops the
unit from cooling the room. This “freezing up” is a
temporary rendition that most often
oeeurs at night
when the Thermostat is set on the widest setting and
the Selector is set on LO COOL.
To correct the condition, set the Selector at HI
F~
or HI COOL with the Thermostat at 1 or 2.

Grille & cabinet
Turn the air conditioner off and remove the plug from

Condenser coils
The coils on the weather side of the air conditioner
should be checked regularly. If they are clogged with
dirt or soot they maybe steam cleane~ a serviu
available through your GE semim outlet.

The filter can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner
to remove light dust, or washed in lukewarm
soapy water.
Rinse and dry

Use of adapter plug (115-volt models only)

Use of extension cords
Because of potential safety hazards under certain
conditions, we strongly recommend against the use of
an extension cord. However, if you
still choose to use
an extension cord, it is absolutely necessary that it be a
~-listed 3-wire grounding type appbnce extension
cord. me current-carrying rating of the cord in amperes
must be equal to or greater than the branch circuit size
shown on the rating nameplate of the air conditioner.

NOTE: All supporting parts should be
secured to firm wood,
mason~ or metal.
IF YOU HAVEA STORM WINDOW...
The storm window frame will not allow the air
conditioner to tilt towards the outside and will keep
the air conditioner from draining properly. To
adjust for this, install wood strips on the sill and stool
to raise the air conditioner and supporting bracket.
The wood should be 2“ wide and long enough to
go
edgettidge in the window opening.
To determine the thickness of the wood strips,
place the bracket on the sill and measure the
distance between the top edge of the storm window
frame and the top of the supporting bracket.

Attach the wood strips securely with nails or screws.

1.Turn the air conditioner off and disconnect the
power cord. Wait
510 minutes before moving
the air conditioner to allow the water to drain
from the coil into the base pan.
Z. Remove the foam gasket from between the
windows.
3. Remove the window locking bracket.
4. Remove the screws securing the sliding panels
on each side. Close the sliding panels.
5. Keeping a firm grip on the air conditioner, raise
the window and carefully ‘rock” the air
conditioner backward to drain most of the pan.
Carefully lift it from the window to avoid spilling
any remaining water. Store parts for reuse with
the air conditioner.
