properly grounded.
Electricalrequirements
●Do notchangetheplugonthepowercordofthis
airconditioner,
●Follownationalelectricalcodesorlocalcodesand
ordinances.
●Aluminumhousewiringmaypresentspecialproblems–
consultaqualifiedelectrician.
The 115-voltmodelsrequirea115/120-volta.c.,60 Hz
groundedoutletprotectedwitha15-amptimedelayfuse
orcircuitbreaker.
Thepowercordonthesemodelshas a3-prong(grounding)
plugthatmateswithastandard3-prong(grounding)wall
outlet(Fig.1)to minimizethepossibilityof electricshock
hazardfromtheseairconditioners.
Ifthewalloutletyou
planto useisonlya
2-prongoutlet,itisyour
personalresponsibility
tohaveitreplacedwitha
properlygrounded
3-prongwalloutlet.

Do not, under any circumstances, cut or
remove the third (ground) prong from the
power cord.
Useof adapterplug (115-voltmodelsonly)
Becauseof potentialsafetyhazards undercertain
conditions,we stronglyrecommend againstthe use of
an adapterplug.However,if you stillchooseto use an
adapter,atemporaryconnectionmaybe made where
localcodespermit. Use aUL-listedadapter,availableat
most localhardware storesand make sure the2-prong
wall outletisproperlygrounded (Fig.2). Youshould
have the circuitcheckedby aqualifiedelectricianto
make surethe outletisproperly grounded.

CAUTION:
Screwingthe adapterto the cover screwwillnot ground
the air conditionerunless:
1.The outletis alreadygrounded through
the housewiring;and
2.The cover screw ismetal and not insulated.
When disconnectingthepower cord from the adapter,
alwaysholdthe adapterwith one hand whilepullingthe
plug withthe other hand.If this is not done,the adapter
groundterminalis likelyto break with repeateduse.
Shouldthe adapter groundterminal break,
DO NOT USE the airconditioneruntilaproper
groundhas againbeen established.
Useofextensioncords
Becauseofpotentialsafetyhazardsundercertain
conditions,we stronglyrecommendagainsttheuseof an
extensioncord.However,if you stillchooseto usean
extensioncord,itis absolutelynecess~ thatit be a
UL-listed3-wiregroundingtypeapplianceextension
cord.Thecurrent-carryingratingofthe cordin amperes
mustbe equalto or greaterthanthebranchcircuitsize
shownon theratingnameplateof theair conditioner.
