@Keepthe airfilterclean. (See
instructions onpage 6.)
~Formost efficient cooling, keep
vent in closed position except when
you want to’exhaust air, smoke or
odors from the room.
~Don’t let the room get too hot.
Whenever possible, turn the unit
on before the room heats up.When
heat is‘[stored up” inwalls, furniture,
rugs and draperies, your air condi-
tioner takes longer to produce the
desired comfort condition.
@Keep windows and doors closed.
Cool, dry air escapes when they’re
open.
~Keep furnace floor registers and
cold air returns closed. Cold air
can easily escape through them.
*Don’t let drapes or furniture block
top or front of unit and restrict air
flow when it is operating.
@It’s best to operate your air
conditioner at high speed during
extremely hot weather.
~Keep outdoor condenser coil
clean. (See page 5.)
Read this Wok carefully.
It isintended to help youoperate and
maintain your new air conditioner
properly.

Thermostatcontrol
When you turn the THERMOSTAT
control to the desired setting, the
thermostat will automatically control
the temperature of the indoor air.
The higher the number selected,
the cooler the indoor air will be.
The Save Energy Range isavisual
reminder that you can conserve
energy by selecting ahigher room
temperature but still keep the room
cool and less humid than outside.
Ventilate Control
When the VENTILATE control isset
at “Closed” the vent door is closed
and only the air inside the room can
be circulated and conditioned.
When it’s in the “Open” position,
the vent door isopen and indoor air
can be exhausted from the room.
Energy saverswitch
The ENERGY SAVER switch controls the fan operation. When it’s in
the “norm” position, the fan will circulate room air continuously. When it’s
in the “save” position, the fan will automatically cycle on and off with the
compressor.
For fan only operation, ENERGY SAVER switch must be in “norm” position.
Master Control
OFF turns air conditioner off.
*HI FAN permits high fan speed
operation without cooling.
*LO FANpermits medium fan “
speed operation without cooling.
*ULTRA LO FAN permits low fan
speed operation without cool ing.
*For fan only operation, ENERGY
SAVER Switch must be in “norm”
position.
HI COOL permits cooling with high
fan speed operation.
LO COOL permits cooling with
medium fan speed operation,
ULTRA LO COOL permits cooling
with low fan speed operation.
--- For~Iormalcooling
1.Set MASTER CONTROL at
HI COOL.
2. Set THERMOSTAT control at
desired number (usually the mid-
point is a good starting position).
If room temperature is not satisfac-
tory after areasonable time, set the
thermostat control at ahigher
number for acooler room or at a
lower number for awarmer room.
3. Slide ENERGY SAVER switch
to the desired position–’’save”
or “norm.”
4. Set VENTILATE control at
“Closed” position.
Formaximum COOling
1.Set MASTER CONTROL at
HI COOL.
2. Set THERMOSTAT control at 8.
3. Slide ENERGY SAVER switch
to “norm” position.
4. Set VENTILATE control at
-“Closed” position.
For quieter OperatiOn
1. Set MASTER CONTROL at
ULTRALO COOL.
2. Set THERMOSTAT control at
desired number.
3. Set VENTIL4TE control at
“Closed” position.
4. Slide ENERGY SAVERswitch to
desired position.
Note: When ENERGY SAVER
switch is at “save;’ changes in
sound level may be more apparent
asthe fan cycles on and off with
the compressor.
For nighttimeoperation
During the cooler evening hours,
it is recommended that you set the
MASTER CONTROL at ULTRA LO
COOL for very quiet operation and
the THERMOSTAT control at
midrange (4).
FOr extreme temperatures
For greatest economy and best
performance, we suggest you
always set the MASTER CONTROL
at Hi COOL in extremely hot
weather.

For ventilation
Whether controls areset for cooling
or fan operation only, setting the
VENTILATE control at “Open” lets
room air be exhausted to the out-
side.This ishelpful in removing stale
air, smoke or odors from the room.
However, cooling effectiveness is
reduced when this control is set at
“Open” so we suggest you don’t
keep it there long–especially in
hot, humid weather.
Toadjustair direction
Position the horizontal louvers
with your fingertips to direct air
discharge up or down. Usethe tabs
to position the hidden vertical
louvers to direct air discharge to
the left, right or any position in
between.
Condenser COi\s
These coils on the weather side of
the unit should be checked period-
ically and cleaned if clogged with
dirt or soot from the atmosphere. If
extremely soiled, they may need to
be steam cleaned, aservice avail-
able through your Hotpoint service
outlet.
