ON/OFF Button : Turns both fan and lights
on to default (or user programmed) settings.
Default settings are FAN medium, LIGHT level
2. See below for details on how to program
the control to your preferred settings. If the
hood is in active mode (fan on and/or lumps
on), when the user presses the ON/OFF
button, all functions will be turned off.
Fan -: Pressing the fan decrease (-)button
will step the blower down to the next lower
blower speed, looping in this order: BOOST
HIGH_ MEDIUM_ LOW_ OFF_ BOOST...
Fan +: Pressing the fun increase (+)button
will step the blower up to the next higher
blower speed, looping in this order: LOW
MEDIUM_ HIGH_ BOOST_ OFF_ LOW...
Light -: Pressingthe light decrease (-)button
will step the lamp intensity down to the next
lower intensity, looping in this order: Level4

intensity, looping in this order: Level 1 _ Level2

Programming
settings
You have the option of changing the factory
default (or previously programmed) settings for the
ON/OFF button.
.With all functions off, press and hold the ON/
OFF button for :3seconds. The fan speed will
be on medium and the light intensity will be on
Level 2 (or previously programmed settings).
The hood lamps will blink :3times. Release the
button.
.The control isnow in programming mode.
You can set the fan and light settings to your
preferred setting by pressing the Fan +, Fan-,
Light +, and Light - buttons.
NOTE:You do not have the option of setting
the fan or lights to OFF.
3. When the desired fan and light settings have
been selected, press the ON/OFF button to
store these settings. You have :30seconds to
complete this task.
NOTE:If the control isin programming mode and
:30seconds have passed with no button activity
detected, the control will revert to the last saved fan
and light setting (default or programmed).
Power interruptions will cause the controls to revert
to the factory settings.
Heat sensor To protect the electronics, this hood isequipped
with an Auto On feature that will automatically
turn on the blower or increase the speed if
excessive heat is detected above the cooking
surface.
When the Auto On feature isactivated, you may
increase the fan speed but you cannot lower the fan
speed or turn off the blower. The hood will remain in
Auto On mode until temperatures have dropped to
acceptable levels.The fan speed will change to the
original user setting when Auto On isdeactivated.
TheAuto On feature will always have priority over
the fan speed set by the user.

Utensil rods Utensil rods (]re located on each side of the hood.
Usethese rodsto hang GnddisplGycooking utensils
such aswhisks, spoons, forks, or any nonfl(]mmable
edecorative items. Frequently used small pots and
pans can also hang from these rods.
-A WARNING:
DO NOT hang flammable items from these rods.
DO NOT hang items weighing more than 10
pounds on either side, or 20 pounds total weight.

Care and Cleaning

For your
safety Before servicing or cleaning the unit, switch power
off at the service panel and lock the service panel to
prevent power from being switched on accidentally.
If the service panel cannot be locked, fasten a tag
or prominent warning label to the panel.
Charcoal

(for use with
recirculation

Metal baffle
grease filters
If the hood is not vented to the outside, the air will
be recirculated through disposable charcoal filters
that help remove smoke and odors.
The charcoal filter should be replaced when it is
noticeably dirty or discolored (usually after 6 to
12 months, depending on hood usage).
NOTE:DONOTrinse, or put charcoal filter in an
automatic dishwasher.
The charcoal filters cannot be cleaned.
They must be replaced.

The metal baffles channel grease released by
foods into the drip trays. Thebaffles also help pre-
vent flaming foods on the cooktop from damaging
the inside of the hood. Forthis reason, the baffles
must ALWAYSbe in place when the hood is used.
The baffle grease filters should be cleaned once a
month, or as needed.
To remove the metal baffle grease filter, hold the
filter by both knobs. Pushthe filter into the front
(upper) filter channel until it is released from the
rear channel. Lower the back of the filter and
push away from the front channel until it clears.
These grease filters can be cleaned by hand or
in the dishwasher using non-abrasive soap. To
clean them by hand, soak and then swish them
around in warm water and detergent. Do not use
ammonia or ammonia products because they will
darken the metal. Do not use abrasives or oven
cleaners. Light brushing can be used to remove
embedded dirt. Rinse,shake and let dry before
replacing.

Toreplace the baffle grease filter, hold both filter
knobs while positioning the front end of the filter
into the upper (front) filter channel. Pull the filter
as far forward as possible into the channel. Push
the filter into the rear channel and adjust until it
seats properly.
Hood
surfaces Do not use a steel-wool pad; it will scratch
the surface.
To clean the stainless steel surface, use warm,
sudsy water or a stainless steel cleaner or
polish. Always wipe the surface in the direction of
the grain.
Follow the cleaner instructions for cleaning
the stainless steel surface. To inquire about

Drip tray The drip tray should be cleaned once a month or
as needed.
To remove the drip tray, first remove the baffle
grease filters. Grasp both ends of the drip tray.
Gently lift the drip tray up until the bottom of it
clears the track. Pullthe drip tray forward, being
careful not to spill the contents, and move it to a
nearby trash receptacle.
Toclean the drip tray, drain and wipe all excess
grease with a dry paper towel. Wash with warm
soapy water or in the dishwasher. Dry with a
clean cloth.
To replace the drip tray, lift it up and into the
track on the hood. Replace baffle grease filters. Drip tray
Light bulbs NOTE:The glass cover should be removed only when cool.
CAUTION:
Before replacing the bulb, disconnect electrical
power to the hood at the main fuse or circuit
breaker or main power disconnect switch located
on the control housing. Allow bulbs to cool before
touching.
For safety, do not touch a hot bulb with bare hands
or a damp cloth.
To change the light bulbs:
1. Removethe lamp lens cover by inserting a small
flat-blade screwdriver into each of the three slots
and gently prying it free.
NOTE:Do not remove the outer trim ring (lamp
assembly).
2. Graspthe bulb and pull it straight out.
3. Usingglovesor a dry cloth, remove the new bulb
from the packaging.(Wearinglatex glovesmay offer
a better grip.)The bulb must be the same wattage,
120-volt,25-watt halogen with a G-9 base.Early-life
bulb failure may occur if wattage istoo high.
4. Pushthe bulb straight all the way into the
receptacle.
5. Replacethe lenscover by inserting the three
retaining tabs into the slots and pressing into place.
NOTE:Forimproved lighting, clean the glass cover
frequently using a damp cloth. Thisshould be done
when the hood is completely cool.
6. Reconnect electrical power to the hood.
NOTE: Order replacement 120-volt, 25-watt
halogen bulb with G-9 base, WB25X10020.

EARLY-LIFE BULB FAILURE
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• This hood is equipped with a main power disconnect switch. It is located
behind the grease filters on the right side of the hood on the control
housing. Flipthis switch and press Fan/Light buttons again.
• A fuse may be blown or a circuit breaker tripped. Replace fuse or reset
circuit breaker.
The blower connector is loose or not plugged into its mating connector.
Disconnect power to the unit. Locate blower and cable coming from
it. Follow cable until you find the connector. Make sure each blower
connector issecurely plugged, one into the other.
• The motor is probably overheating and turning itself off. This can be
harmful to the motor. Check to be sure the filter is clean. If off and on
cycling continues, call for service.
• Wrong size duct used in installation. This hood requires 8" ducting and a
maximum duct length of 100 equivalent feet to perform optimally. Using
smaller duct pipe or longer equivalent lengths of duct pipe will cause
improper venting. GEservice technicians cannot correct this issue if
installed improperly.
• Make sure nothing is blocking the vent, including bird & other nests or
fallen pieces of dry wall.
Damper blade in hood exhaust outlet or at wall/roof cap may be stuck.
Make sure all damper blades open freely.
Make sure installer has used the correct size duct, not exceeded the
recommend equivalent length of ducting and all duct pieces are
properly connected and sealed.
Non-rigid duct work is prohibited in these applications. If used, look for
kinks or other restrictions.
• Metal grease filters and/or charcoal filters (if present) may be dirty.
Clean the metal grease filter and replace charcoal filter (if present). See
Care and Cleaning instructions.
• Control logic confused. Disconnect power to the hood by resetting the
circuit breaker. Wait :30seconds to allow controls to reset.
Replacing bulbs with bare hands. Replace bulbs while wearing gloves to
keep skin oils off bulbs.
Bulb wattage is too high. Replace with correct wattage.
