Lower Feedboard and Receiving Tray. Turn
Handle outwards. Check that Switch is fully
lowered in its 'off' position. Connect power plug
to electrical outlet.
Check that Feed Lever is raised and give Handle
one complete turn clockwise to ensure Feed
mechanism is not operating.
INKING MACHINE
Open Inker Door.
Raise Tube Locking Lever.
Hold Ink Tube by the shoulder and remove cap.
NOTE: DO NOT GRIP TUBE.
Place crimped end in Tube Support and insert
Tube Nozzle into Tube Holder.
Then push Tube Locking Lever fully downwards.
Close Inker Door.

Tum Ink Selector to full width inking position-
this is indicated by a full blue line appearing on
top of Ink Selector-see Page 7.
Start machine by raising Switch.
Apply ink by FULLY depressing Ink Switch and
holding it in this position until a uniform , thin film
of ink is visible, giving a slight sheen to the surface
of the Silk Screen. Then depress Ink Stop Switch.
Switch off machine.
FITTING STENCIL
Turn Handle clockwise until Stencil Fixing Bar is
at top of machine. Lift up Stencil Fixing Bar
Cover until it locks in raised position. Fasten
Stencil with typed side towards Silk Screen, making
sure that holes in Stencil Heading fit securely,
over studs of Fixing Bar.
Close Fixing Bar Cover.

Place right hand lightly on Backing Sheet, turn
Handle slowly clockwise and maintain continual
pressure over full length of Backing Sheet until the
Handle is in its top position.
Turn back Backing Sheet, if stencil is creased
re-lay it by hand-see page I I. Turn Handle
clockwise to its bottom position.
Depress Proofing Button, turn Handle slowly one
complete revolution clockwise and release Proofing
Button.
Turn Handle to its top position, turn back Backing
Sheet and check that the copy is uniformly inked.
If necessary repeat the operation.
When the copy is uniformly inked, hold bottom
edge of Backing Sheet, raise it slightly outwards
and turn the Handle counter-clockwise to its bottom
pos1t1on. Remove Backing Sheet by tearing it off
along perforated line.

Raise Back and Side Guides and move them fully
outwards.

Pull Back Fence fully to rear of Feedboard.
Fan out paper and square it up to original state.
Then place on Feedboard fully forward; use Feed-
board Scale to position stack in relation to subject
matter on stencil.
NOTE: Never place more paper on Feedboard
than will fit easily under Paper Height Stop.
Slacken Side Fence Knobs and move Side Fences
to rest lightly against paper stack. Tighten Side
Fence Knobs.
Slide Back Fence towards paper stack until it
almost touches stack and lower Paper Weight on
to paper.
NOTE: For quick reloading raise Paper Weight to
top position and lay Back Fence horizontal to
Feedboard.
SETTING FEED UNIT
Check position of Feed Pressure Lever. For normal
use it should be at top of slot '+'. If lightweight
paper is to be fed, move Feed Pressure Lever to
bottom of slot '-'
PRINTING FIRST COPY
Start machine by raising Switch. Raise Feedboard
Operating Knob until the Feedboard starts to rise
and release it- the Feedboard will automatically
rise until the paper stack contacts the Paper Height
Stop.
Depress Feed Lever; as soon as Feed mechanism
begins to operate, raise Feed Lever.

POSITIONING COPY
Examine copy for correct position. Turn Print
HeightAdjuster UPWARDS to RAISE and DOWN-
WARDS to LOWER copy and adjust side margins
by turning Side Margin Adjuster.
SETTING RECEIVING TRAY
Set Receiving Tray by laying edge of printed copy
against Front Guides.
Move Front and Side Guides to touch sides of copy.
NOTE: If Paper Jogger is not required to operate
see Page 6 for full details.
Move Back Guide to touch edge of copy.
Lower Front Guide Wings if Delivery Control Unit
and Paper Control Guide are to be used.
SETTING DELIVERY CONTROL
UNIT
Depress Feed Lever, slowly turn Handle clockwise
and as soon as Feed mechanism begins to operate
raise Feed Lever and stop turning Handle when
sheet of paper reaches Delivery Control Blades.
Then depress Release Levers and position Blades
until they are slightly inside the edges of the paper.
Continue feeding sheet of paper.

SETTING PROGRAMMING COUNTER
Set Counter to number of copies needed by turning
Hundreds Dial to rno's required and turn Units
Dial to units required.
Example-Illustration shows Counter set for 2500
copies.
When required number of copies have been printed
the Counter registers 'O', automatically stops Feed
Mechanism and switches off machine.
P RINTING COPIES
Switch on machine. Turn Speed Control CLOCK-
WISE for FAST or COUNTER-CLOCKWISE
for SLOW .
Depress Feed Lever to commence printing. To
stop machine whilst printing raise Feed Lever.
Depress Ink Switch and release it to put Continu-
matic Inking mechanism into action -for full
details see page 7.
NOTE: To increase density of copy, decrease
speed. Copy density cannot be increased by over-
inking machine. Only a thin film of ink is required
on the Cylinders.
When paper on Feedboard is almost exhausted, the
Feed mechanism stops, the Feedboard drops to its
bottom position and the machine is switched off.
Then remove copies from Receiving Tray. Re-load
and raise Feedboard, switch on machine, depress
Feed Lever and continue pr1nting.
S ETTING PAP ER JOGGER
The Jogger Leverautomaticallyengages its operating
Stud when Receiving Tray is lowered.
If it is not required to operate, slightly raise
Receiving Tray and depress lug 'G' of Lever to
disconnect it from Stud . Then lower Receiving
Tray so that Lever rests on top of Stud.
When the Jogger is required to operate, proceed
as follows :-
Check that Feed Lever is raised and give Handle
one complete turn clockwise to ensure Feed
mechanism is not operating. Then slightly raise
Receiving Tray until Jogger Lever drops over Stud
and lower Receiving Tray.
Set the Back and Side Guides to lightly touch back
and sides of copy for perfect stacking.

SETTING CONTINUMATIC INKING
To apply ink continumatically, fully depress Ink
Switch and release it. Turn Ink Control until Ink
Control Scale is between 4 and 5 (intermediate
setting).
Turn Ink Control COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to
INCREASE and CLOCKWISE to DECREASE
ink flow.
If maximum ink is required, turn Scale to 9.
If minimum ink is required, turn Scale to r.
After a little experience you will be able to assess
setting of Ink Control Scale so that there is a thin
film of ink on Cylinders at all times.
NOTE:

FUNCTIONS WHEN FEED MECHANISM IS
OPERATING.
2. WHEN CONTINUMATIC INKING IS NO
LONGER REQUIRED, DEPRESS INK STOP
SWITCH, TURN HANDLE IF MACHINE IS
NOT UNDER POWER.
3. THE INK SUPPLY CAN BE BOOSTED BY
FULLY DEPRESSING THE INK SWITCH
AND HOLDING IT IN THIS POSITION.
WHEN THE INK SWITCH IS RELEASED IT
RETURNS TO THE CONTINUMATIC INKING
POSITION.

The Ink Selector enables the machine to be inked
in four different positions across the width of the
stencil.
Ink can be applied to full width, left hand side,
right hand side and middle of a stencil by means
of the Ink Selector. The ink position in use is
indicated by the marking which appears on top of
the Ink Selector.

COLOR CHANGING
Disconnect Silk Screen Springs, lift up Silk Screen
Bottom Bar, turn Handle counter-clockwise until
Stencil Fixing Bar is on top, raise Silk Screen
upright, lift up Stencil Fixing Bar Cover and with
a slight pull disconnect Silk Screen from Stencil
Fixing Bar.
Lower the Ink Roller Lever and withdraw Ink
Rollers from machine.
Open Inker Door. Raise Tube Locking Lever.
Remove Ink Tube and replace its cap.
Depress Pump Catch and withdraw Ink Gun.
Close Inker Door.

Place a Color Change Strip, wording upwards,
firmly on main bar of Color Changer. Hold the
Color Changer by its Levers and insert it between
the Cylinders at the back of the machine with the
pronged links inwards. Fold Levers fully inwards.
Turn Handle clockwise slowly for one complete
revolution. Open Levers outwards. Withdraw
Color Changer. Discard Color Change Strip and
wipe Cylinders clean with a soft cloth.
Insert new Ink Rollers and raise the Ink Roller
Lever. Turn Handle to check that Ink Rollers
rotate and oscillate.
Insert new Ink Gun and push inwards until it is
locked in position by the Pump Catch.
Raise Stencil Fixing Bar Cover.
Unroll Silk Screen. With your right hand, hold
right hand end of Silk Screen Bottom Bar, in this
position two studs on Bottom Bar will be facing
you; and with other hand hold left hand end of
Silk Screen Top Bar.
Stand behind Receiving Tray and hold Silk Screen
outstretched and vertically above slots in Fixing Bar.
Insert hooks of Top Bar in slots and slightly lower
Screen towards you.
Still holding Bottom Bar with right hand, lower
Screen and turn Handle slowly with left hand.
Connect Screen Springs to Fixing Bar Studs.

FEEDING SHORT PAPER AND CARDS
(5" - 7 ½" in length)
NOTE:
(i) If paper is 6½" or wider proceed with Steps
2 and 3.
(ii) If paper is narrower than 6½" proceed as
follows:
Raise left hand and right hand Feed Unit Catches
and lift Feed Unit as high as possible. Then
keeping the Catches raised, lower Feed Unit until
right hand Catch holds Feed Unit in raised position.
Press Feed Finger Clip inwards and remove Feed
Finger by pulling downwards.
Insert studs of small Feed Finger into slots of Feed
Bracket, bridge 'B' upwards ; and press fully
upwards.
Raise right hand Catch and lower Feed Unit .
Ensure that Catches clip over Mainshaft.
NOTE: The removed Feed Finger can be stored
in a holder behind Inker Door.
Fitt ing Small Paper Guides
Fit Small Paper Guides to machine with lugs 'L'
nearest to Side Frames by engaging groove at top
of Holders with Feed Unit Support and pressing
fully inwards to engage Mainshaft.
Place papers to be fed in center of Feedboard fully
forward.
Press Guide Buttons inwards to release Guide
Rods.
Slide Guides towards stack so that Guide Rods
lightly contact sides of paper.
Move Back Fence until it almost touches rear of
stack and lower Paper Weight.

Depress Feedboard Operating Knob until Feed-
board is fully lowered and remove paper . Slide
Back Fence fully forward below Feed Unit, lower
Paper Weight and lay Back Fence backwards
horizontal to Feedboard .
Turn Handle clockwise until Stencil Fixmg Bar
is at top of machine. Lift up Stencil Fixing Bar
Cover, detach Stencil Heading from studs and
release Cover. Turn Handle clockwise and remove
Stencil.
Turn Handle to bottom position and fold inwards.
Fold Back and Side Guides of Receiving Tray
inwards.
~OTE: If the Feedboard Side Fences are positioned
::i.e ar the outer ends of their slots,move them towards
center of Feedboard to allow Feedboard to be closed.
Close up Feedboard and Receiving Tray.

SUMMARY OF INITIAL OPERATING
PROCEDURE
Lower Feedboard and Receiving Tray.
Connect tube of ink and apply ink to Silk Screen.
Fit Stencil. Obtain proof copy on Backing Sheet.
Remove Backing Sheet.
Load Feedboard with paper.
Switch on machine, raise Feedboard and print first
copy.
Set top, bottom and side margins of copy.
Set Receiving Tray Guides.
Set Counter.
Commence duplicating.
RE-RUNNING USED STENCILS
Ink machine, and attach stencil as in Step 4, Page 2.
Turn Handle until Stencil Fixing Bar is in line
with Feed mechanism.
Grip bottom of stencil, hold it upright and then
lay it evenly on Silk Screen over its entire length.
Remove any creases by lifting bottom of stencil
with right hand and re-laying stencil slowly on Silk
Screen. Turn Handle a little at a time and stretch
out any creases with fingers of left hand.
NOTE: DO NOT DEPRESS PROOFING
BUTTON.

Set Receiving Tray Side Guides to suit size of
paper being fed or to Interleaving Cards, if paper
is smaller than Cards.
Position Back Guide below Card Supports ' C' for
small cards or at the end of its slot in Receiving
Tray for large cards.
NOTE: Position Card Supports 'C' inwards for
small Interleaving Cards as shown in inset.
Place approximately 50 Interleaving Cards in
Interleaver as shown. Continue to operate machine
as in Step 15, page 6.
Do not run machine at an excessive speed when
using the Interleaver.
NOTE :
(i ) Bowed cards should be positioned as shown,
and placed at bottom of stack.
(ii ) Cards should always be stored on a flat surface
in dry, cool conditions.
Lay Back Guide flat on Receiving Tray and remove
interleaved stack. Square up stack of approximately
10 interleaved copies so that copies slide to one end
of cards. Then separate copies from cards as follows:
If size of copy allows, insert index finger through
holes in cards and allow cards to hang loosely,
hold protruding ends of copies and gently pull them
aw ay from cards.
If copies are longer than cards, loosely hold pro-
truding end of copies and allow cards to fall through.
To separate postcards or small paper, square up
stack so that copies protrude at one corner, then
ig htl y hold protruding corner and gently pull them
away from cards.
