WARNING!
Expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.Toprotectthemagainst
damage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou workon your
computer.
1.Turnoffyourcomputerand unplugpowersupply.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.If you do nothaveone,
touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe power
supplycase.
3.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparatedfromthe system.
Thecardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcanbeeasilydamagedbystaticelectricity,
sothe cardshouldbe leftinitsoriginalpacking until itisinstalled.
Unpacking andinstallationshouldbe done onagroundedanti-staticmat. Theoperatorshouldbe
wearing an anti-staticwristband,groundedatthe samepointasthe anti-staticmat.
Inspectthe cardcarton forobviousdamage.Shipping and handlingmaycausedamage toyour
card.Besuretherearenoshippingand handling damagesonthecardbeforeproceeding.
MDONOTAPPLYPOWERTOYOUR SYSTEMIFITHASBEENDAMAGEDONTHE
CARD.
MInordertoensureyourgraphicscardworkingcorrectly,pleaseuseofficialGigabyteBIOS

Installing YourGraphicscard.
Nowthatyouhavepreparedyourcomputer,youarereadytoinstallyourgraphicsaccelerator
card.
To install yourgraphics acceleratorcard:
1.Poweroff thecomputerand monitor,then
disconnectthe displaycablefromtheback
ofyourcomputer.
2.Removethe computercover.Ifnecessary,
consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelpin
removingthecover.
3.Removeanyexisting graphics cardfrom
yourcomputer.
Or,ifyourcomputerhasanyon-board
graphicscapability,youmayneedtodisable
itonthemotherboard.Formoreinformation,
seeyoucomputerdocumentation.

4.LocatetheAGPslot. If necessary,remove
themetalcoverfromthisslot;thenalignyour
graphicscardwiththeAGPslot,andpressit
infirmlyuntil the cardisfullyeated.
5.Replacethescrewtofastenthecardinplace,
and replacethe computercover.
6.Plug the displaycableintoyourcard;then
turnon the computerand monitor.If your
graphics cardcamewithaDVIconnector,
you can connectaflatpaneldisplaytothe
appropriateconnector,asshownbelow...
Youarenowreadytoproceed withtheinstallationofthegraphicscarddrivers.Pleaserefer
tonextchapterfordetailedinstructions.
Afterinstallation,pleaseconnectthe powercabletoyour
GV-R80P256D/GV-R80P256Vgraphics card,orsystem
willnotboot.

Inthismanual, weassumethatyourCD-ROMDrive lettertobeDrive D:
The installation ofWin®98/98SE /Win®2000 /Win®ME/Win®XP driversisverysimple.
When you insertthe driverCD intoyourCD-ROMdrive,you can see the AUTORUN
window(ifitdoesnotshowup,run"D:\setup.exe").Then youcanfollowtheguidestosetup
yourgraphics carddriver.(Pleasefollowthesubsection 3.1.3"Driverinstallation"toinstall
the driverforyourgraphics accelerator.)
3.1.WIN®XP DRIVERAND UTILITIES INSTALLATION
3.1.1.Operating systemrequirement
•Whenloadingthegraphicscarddriversforthesystem,pleasemakesureyoursystem
hasinstalled DirectX9orlaterversion.
•Ifyouinstall thegraphicscarddriversforthemotherboard,whichconsistofSISorVIA
chipsets,pleaseinstalltheappropriatedriverprogramforthatmotherboard.Orplease
contactyourmotherboardnearestdealerformotherboarddriver.
