Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this product which has been designed and
manufactured to give you many years of trouble-free service.
You may already be familiar with using a similar product, but do please
take time to read these instructions - they have been written to ensure
you get the very best from your purchase.
For clarity, throughout this user guide, the GTV14T4DVD 14” colour
television with DVD player will be referred to as “the unit”.

Safety Instructions
WARNING: ENSURE THAT YOU READ ALL OF THE SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR UNIT.
Safety Considerations
• Position the power lead, and other connected leads, so that they
are not likely to be walked on, pinched or where items can be
placed on or against them.
• Do not use this unit in humid or damp conditions. Do not
place water filled items, such as a vase, on top of the unit.
• Ensure that naked flame sources, such as candles are not placed
on top of the unit.
Cleaning
• Ensure that the mains plug is disconnected from the mains
supply before the appliance is cleaned.
• Do not use any liquids or aerosol cleaners, as this may damage the
unit.
• The unit should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth.
Ventilation
• Do not cover the ventilation slots on the rear of the unit, as this may
cause the unit to overheat.
• Never allow children to insert foreign objects into holes or slots on
the unit.
Battery Disposal
• Please ensure that used batteries are disposed off safely. Please
check with your local authority for disposal regulations.
• Never dispose battaries in fire or with household waste..

Servicing
• There are no user serviceable parts in your unit.
• When servicing, refer to qualified service personnel.
• Consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation,
operation, or safety of your unit.
Electrical Information (Mains Plug)
Make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that
indicated on the rating plate. This unit may be fitted with a non-
rewireable plug. If you need to change the fuse in a non-rewireable
plug, the fuse cover must be refitted. If the fuse cover is lost or
damaged, the plug must not be used until a replacement is obtained.
If the plug has to be changed because it is not suitable for your socket,
or it becomes damaged, it should be removed and an appropriate plug
fitted following the wiring instructions below. The waste plug must be
disposed of safely, as insertion into a mains socket is likely to cause
an electrical hazard.
CAUTION: IF A 13 AMP (BS1363) PLUG IS USED, A 3 AMP
FUSE (BS1362) MUST BE FITTED.
BLUE BROWN
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this unit may not
correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows:
•The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked with
the letter N or coloured black.
•The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked
with the letter L or coloured red.
•No connection must be made to the earth terminal inside the
plug.
This symbol indicates that this unit is Class II Double insulated. An
earth connection is not required.

Getting Started
Remove your unit carefully from the box. You may wish to store the
packaging for future use.
In the Box
Included in this package should be:

Aerial
Should any of these items be missing, please contact the helpline on

Note: Unless otherwise stated, all references to buttons refer to the
remote control.
Aerial Connection
To connect the aerial, plug the aerial lead into the aerial socket on the
rear of the unit (see page 8).
You can use an outdoor aerial. However, if you use an indoor aerial the
quality of the reception may be reduced and adjustment of the aerial
may be required when changing programmes.
The Remote Control
Installing the Batteries
Remove the battery compartment cover. Insert two R03 (AAA) size
Energizer batteries in the compartment. Refer to the diagram in the
battery compartment for the correct installation of the batteries. Refit
the battery compartment cover.

We recommend the use of Ever Ready batteries.
Using the Remote Control
To use the remote control, point it at the front of the unit, towards the
sensor which is situated on the front of the unit by the power LED.
The remote control will work up to 6 metres from the unit and at an
angle of up to 30 degrees.
Do not block the path of the beam from the remote control to the unit.
Note: Sunlight or very bright light will reduce the remote control
sensitivity.
Switching On
Mains Power
Connect the 3-pin plug into the mains socket and switch on.
Note: When not in use, disconnect the 3-pin plug from the mains
power supply.
Press the POWER switch on the front panel. The unit will go to
standby mode if it was switched off in standby mode. The LED on the
front panel will be illuminated red both in standby and normal modes.

When the unit is in the standby mode, press the STANDBY button to
switch on.
Standby
To switch the unit back to Standby mode press the STANDBY button.
Switching Off
Press the POWER button on the front panel of the unit.
Screen Saver
When in DVD mode, this unit is equipped with a screen saver to protect
the screen if left in standby mode.
The DVD logo will be displayed and move randomly on the screen while
the screen saver is active.
If the unit is in DVD mode and switched on (see page 34), the screen
saver will activate if no buttons are pressed for 5 minutes while in the
stop mode. When a button is pressed the unit will resume normal
active mode.

12cm Photo Compact Discs.
Regional management information this equipment
will only play discs bearing area code 2.
12cm JPEG Compact Discs.

Connecting External Equipment
AV
For use when you are connecting an external source to your unit (Video
recorder, Digital set top boxes etc.) via the two SCART sockets on the
rear of the unit.
See ‘Connecting external equipment’.
Press the AV button to select your input as follows:
Press the AV button once to select AV1 when using
the RCA (In) on the side of your TV.
Press the AV button twice to select AV2 when using
the RCA (in) at the back of your TV or SCART socket 1.
Press the AV button three times to select RGB when using
SCART socket 1.
Note: SCART socket 1 is RGB capable. That is they can accept
Red; Blue and Green signals (as opposed to the composite signal),
which gives a much higher quality picture. To make use of the RGB
capability, you must have a device which can produce the individual
signals.
Press the AV button again to return to TV mode.

There are three options for connecting your Unit to a video recorder/
player.
