Batteries, including those which do not contain

signals. Any other use is expressly prohibited.

Protect the device from moisture (water drops
or splashes).

Do not place any vessels such as vases on the
device. These may be knocked over and spill
fluid on the electrical components, thus present-
ing a safety risk.

Do not place any naked flames such as candles
on the device.

Make sure the device is adequately ventilated.
Do not cover the ventilation slots with newspa-
pers, table cloths, curtains, etc.

When deciding where to place the device,
please note that furniture surfaces are covered
by various types of varnish and plastic, most of
which contain chemical additives. These addi-
tives can corrode the device supports, leaving
residues on the furniture surfaces which can be
difficult or impossible to remove.

Do not use any cleaning agent, as this may dam-
age the casing. Clean the device with a clean,
moist leather cloth.

Do not expose the back-up battery to extreme
heat, caused for example by direct sunlight,
heaters or fire.

This product contains a coin/button cell battery.
Keep the device and the battery away from chil-
dren.

If the coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it
can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours
and can may lead to death. If you think batter-
ies might have been swallowed or placed inside
any part of the body, seek immediate medical
attention.

Keep new and used batteries away from chil-
dren. If the battery compartment does not colse
securely, stop using the product and keep it
away from children.

Remove the batteries when they are flat or when
you know that the device will not be used for a
long period of time. The manufacturer accepts
no liability for damage caused by leaking bat-
teries.

Insert back-up battery (CR 2032)
The back-up battery ensures that the stored settings
are not lost in the case of a power failure.
Caution:

Danger of explosion if battery is incorrect-
lyreplaced. Replace only with the same or
equivalent type.
1 Unscrew safety bolt of the battery compartment
cover panel and remove the cover panel.
2 Insert the included backup battery with the posi-
tive pole facing upwards.
3 Close the battery compartment cover panel and
screw in the safety bolt.
Mains operation
Check that the mains voltage on the type plate cor-
responds to your local mains supply. If this is not
the case, contact your specialist dealer.
1 Insert the plug of the supplied power adapter
cable into the » DC 5V
>« socket.
2 Plug the power adapter into the wall socket.
Caution:

The device is connected to the mains with the
power adapter. Pull out the power adapter
plug if you want to completely disconnect the
device from the mains.

SELECT Confirms the settings in the DAB
menu.
INFO/MENU Press briefly to have DAB station
information displayed in DAB

Press and hold to open the DAB
menu and close it again.
SLEEP Activates the sleep time;
selects the switch-off time.
ON/OFF Switches the device on from
stand-by mode;
switches the device to stand-by

Active: Switches off the alarm for

Tuning and storing DAB radio
stations – first installation
When the device is switched on for the first time
or after factory reset, the Auto Tuning System will
start to scan the whole DAB bandwidth and store
in the program list.
The time is updated automatically.
1 For the best DAB/FM (UHF) reception it is suf-
fcient to align the wire antenna accordingly.
2 Press »ON/OFF« to switch on the device.
– Display: »WELCOME« and then »SCAN«.
– The automatic station search starts, searches
and stores the DAB radio stations in the pro-
gram list.
Storing DAB radio stations to
presets
After the automatic station search, all DAB radio
stations will be stored in the program list. You can
store your favored DAB radio stations on presets
1 to 20.
1 Select the DAB input source with » MODE /
R«.
2 Select DAB radio stations with » r « or » e «.
– Display: the name of the radio station, the
DAB radio station will be activated in 1 sec-
ond.
3 Press » PROG e II « to activate the memory func-
tion.
4 Select the preset with » o « or » p « and press
» PROG e II « to save the station.
– Display: »STORED«.
Tuning and storing DAB radio
stations – after a removal
You can activate the Auto Tuning System again.
That is reasonable, if you will use the device in an-
other place or search new DAB radio stations.
1 Select the DAB input source with » MODE /
R«.
2 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
3 Select the option »FULL SCAN« with » r « or » e «
and confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
– The automatic station search starts, searches
and stores the radio stations in the program
list.
– The device will then switch to the preset you
were listening to beforehand.
Programming DAB radio
stations – manually
1 Select the DAB input source with » MODE /
R«.
2 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
3 Select the option »SYSTEM« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
4 Select the option »MANUAL« with » r « or » e «
and confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
– Display: e.g. »5A I74.928« (channel and fre-
quency of a DAB radio station).
5 Select the desired frequency/channel with » r «
or » e «.
6 Press »SELECT« to confirm the frequency/
channel.
– Display: the signal strength.
7 Press »SELECT« to confirm the setting.
– The DAB radio stations will be stored in the
program list.

Searching for and saving FM
radio stations – automatically
You can store 20 FM radio stations on presets.
1 Select the FM input source with » MODE /

2 Start the automatic station search by pressing

– The automatic station search searches and
stores the radio stations on presets.
Searching for and saving FM
radio stations – manually
You can store 20 FM radio stations on presets.
1 Select the FM input source with » MODE /

2 Activate the station search by pressing » r « or
» e « until the frequency display changes to rapid
runthrough.
– The search stops when a station is found.
Note:

Updating the time – automatically
The device will normally update the time automat-
ically, when a time signal is received. You can
select from which source (DAB or FM or iPod/
iPhone) the update starts or you can disable this
function.
1 Select the DAB input source with » MODE /
R«.
2 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
3 Select the option »SYSTEM« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
4 Select the option »TIME« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
– Display: »SET TIME«.
5 Select the option »UPDATE« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.

6 Select the desired source (Any = DAB, FM and
iPod or DAB or FM or iPod) from which the

or select the option »NO UPDATE«, if you want
to disable the update.
7 Press »SELECT« to confirm the setting.

Updating the time – manually

The device is able to recharge the internal
battery of your iPod/iPhone. If you need to
recharge your iPod/iPhone, please power up
the device.

Your iPod/iPhone will use its backlight settings
as configured. If these need changing, use the
settings menu on your iPod/iPhone.

Using the menus of the iPod/iPhone, you can
select the existing structures (Playlists, Artists,
Albums, etc.) and tracks.

1 Connect your iPod/iPhone into the » iPod dock «
until it latches into its place.
2 Switch on the device from stand-by mode by
pressing » ON/OFF «.
3 Select the input source with » MODE / R «.

– Playback starts automatically with the last
played passage.
4 Adjust the volume with » – VOLUME + «.
5 To pause playback, press » PROG e II «.
6 To resume playback, press » PROG e II « again.
Repeating the current track
1 During playback, press briefly » r « kurz drücken.
Selecting another track
1 During playback, press » r « or » e « repeatedly
until the track is reached.
– Playback of the selected track or file starts au-
tomatically.
Searching for a passage within
a track
1 During playback, press and hold » r « or » e « to
move through the current file.
2 Release » r « or » e « when the passage has been
found.
Displaying information for the
current title
1 To display information on the current title, press
»INFO/MENU« repeatedly.

Displaying DAB station information
1 To display information on the current DAB sta-
tion, press »INFO/MENU« repeatedly.
– The following display appears in succession:
Information from the provider, the signal
strength, the genre, the Ensemble, the current
time and date.
Setting Dynamic Range Control
(DRC) for DAB stations
When you activate Dynamic Range Control, you
can hear lower sounds better in a loud environ-
ment.
1 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
2 Select the option »DRC« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
3 Select the option » DRC high« or » DRC LOW«
with » r « or » e « and confirm by pressing
»SELECT«.
4 Press »INFO/MENU« to end the display.

Interrupting the alarm
1 Press » SNOOZE R « while the alarm is sound.
– The alarm signal (radio station or signal) stops
and the Wake Up Light disappear.
– The alarm signal goes on again at nine-minute
intervals.
Cancelling the alarm
1 Press » ON/OFF « while the alarm is sound.
Activating and deactivating the alarm
1 Press » AL 1 « or » AL 2 « while the alarm is sound.

Sleep timer
1 To set the switch-off time (»120« – »00« min-

Deleting all settings (Reset)
This function enables you to reset all the custom
settings back to the default settings. All setings are
lost when you do this.
1 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
2 Select the option »SYSTEM« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
3 Select the option »RESET« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
– A safety confirmation is displayed.

Removing DAB radio stations
from the program list
If you move to a different part of the country,
you should remove DAB radio stations, which
are no longer available from the program list.
These DAB radio stations are marked with “?“.
1 Select the DAB input source with » MODE /
R«.
2 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
3 Select the option »PRUNE« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
– A safety confirmation is displayed.
4 Select the option »Y« (Yes) with » r « or » e «.

5 Press »SELECT« to confirm setting.

– In the program list you will find only avail-
able radio stations.
Setting the display illumination
You can choose whether the display is continu-
ally lit or whether the light goes out after a brief
period (10 to 180 seconds).
1 Open the menu by pressing and holding
»INFO/MENU«.
2 Select the option »SYSTEM« with » r « or » e « and
confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
3 Select the option »BACKLIGHT« with » r « or » e «
and confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
4 Select the option (»TIME OUT« or »ON LEVEL«)
using » r « or » e « and confirm by pressing
»SELECT«.
– The option »TIME OUT« allows you to set the
time after which the brightness of the display
is reduced;
– The option »ON LEVEL« allows you to select
the brightness for the time-out time.

You can choose whether to have the day or the
month displayed first.

Software Update
You can install the latest version of the software,
if available.
1 Connect the device to a PC to the socket
»SOFTWARE UPGRADE ONLY«.
2 Open the menu by pressing and holding

confirm by pressing »SELECT«.
4 Select the option »UPGRADE« with » r « or » e «
