Warnings
Do not use the GR2000-B models if there is
smoke or an unusual smell coming from it. If
either occurs, immediately turn power off and
unplug the power cable from the outlet.
Contact a qualified service technician.
If liquid is spilled on the GR2000-B models,
turn power off and unplug the power cable
from the outlet. Discontinue use to avoid the
risk of fire or electric shock.
If a foreign object falls into the router when
the cover is off, turn power off and unplug the
power cable from the outlet. Do not attempt
to remove the object while the power is on.
Do not put the router on an unstable or
uneven place. Put it on a stable and flat surface to prevent it from falling and
causing damage.
When installing the GR2000-B models on a desk, lay it down horizontally on it’s
rubber feet. If you stand it vertically or lean it against a wall, it could fall down
and cause damage to itself or a person.
Make sure that the router is in a stable, secure position when mounting it into a
rack. If you try to install it without anchoring it to the rack, it could fall out of the
rack.
Do not put a metal object, such as a pin
or paperclip, or a vase or flower pot on the
GR2000-B models. Water or object getting
into the chassis could cause a server
electrical shock to anyone touching the
router.
Do not use a power source or voltage that
exceeds the specifications of the GR2000-B models. Observe markings on the
chassis.
To prevent electric shock, use only grounded power outlets.
Do not use adapters to connect multiple power cables to the same outlet. Doing
this can cause a fire and can cause a circuit breaker to trip due to an overloaded
circuit.
Do not put a heavy object on a power cable, since it could crush it. Similarly,
don’t pull, bend or otherwise mutilate the power cable, since this could cause a
fire or electric shock.
Use the power cable packed along with a chassis. If you use a power cable other
than this, it could cause a fire or an electric shock. In addition, do not use this
power cable for devices other than the GR2000-B models. If you do, it could
cause a fire or electric shock.
Do not put a power cable under the device. Doing this might cause a fire or an
electric shock.
If the power cable is ever damaged so that the wires underneath the covering are
visible or cut, stop using it and ask a maintenance staff to replace it. If you
continue to use a damaged cable, it could easily cause a fire or electric shock.
Make sure that the power plug is clean when you insert it into the device or into
the AC source. Furthermore, the power plug should be inserted firmly in a stable

position until its edge reaches the end of a slot. Dust or unstable connections
could cause a fire or an electric shock.
Do not insert any foreign objects into
the device or the ventilation slots.
Doing so may cause fire or electric
shock.
Even if the power switch is turned off,
electricity continues to flow into the
electric circuit through the cables
connected to the device, which can
cause a fire or electric shock. Therefore, turn off the power switch and unplug all
the cables including the power cable before removing the cover or power supply
unit from the device. Handle the device carefully, complying with the instructions
written on the “WARNING” label on the device.
Removing the cover from the device should be done
by a trained engineer or a maintenance staff.
Handle the device carefully, complying with the
instructions written on the “WARNING” label on the
device.
If the device is dropped and any part is broken, turn
the power switch off, unplug the power cable from
the outlet, and contact service. Continued use may
cause fire or electric shock.
Do not remodel the device. Doing this causes a fire
or an electric shock.
Turn off the power switch when installing or replacing additional network
interface boards, cryptographic accelerators, or a basic control module (BCU).
Do not install the GR2000-B models in a dusty or humid location. Doing so may
cause fire or electric shock.
Condensation may form on the surface and inside of the GR2000-B models if it is
moved from a cold to a warm location. Using the device in this condition may
cause fire or electric shock. After moving the device between two locations with a
large temperature variation, let the device stand for a few hours before using.
Do not block the ventilation slots. If
you block the ventilation slots, the
inside of the router will overheat and
cause a fire. Secure at least 70 mm of
space on each side of the GR2000-B
models to ensure proper air flow through the ventilation slots.
Do not put a heavy object weighing more than 5 kg on the GR2000-1B,
GR2000-2B and GR2000-2B+. Likely, do not put an object weighing more than
16 kg on the GR2000- BH. If you do, it could damage the router, or else make it
fall over and cause a physical damage or an injury.
A cooling fan is mounted in the
device. Do not allow your hair to get
near the ventilation slots. If you do
so, your hair could be pulled into the
device by the suction of the cooling
fan and you could be injured. Also, a
“CAUTION” label is put on the air entrance side of the GR2000-BH. You should

read the caution label completely and handle the device in compliance with its
instructions.
Regarding the redundant power supply unit in the GR2000-BH, it is possible to
add or exchange one power supply while the other power supply is powered on.
However, this should be done by the trained engineers or qualified maintenance
staffs. If no such person is available to help you and you must do it yourself, turn
the power off before doing it. Also, do not put your hands or a foreign object into
the device while it is powered on. Doing it could cause a fire or an electric shock.
When using a GR2000-BH with redundant power supply units, power is provided
for the GR2000-BH from more than one power source. Therefore, do not forget to
turn off all of the power switches when powering off the GR2000-BH. Handle the
device carefully, complying with the instructions written on the “WARNING” label
on the device.
Cautions
Move the device carefully. Before doing so, unplug the power and other cables.
Failure to follow this warning may damage the router or cables, or could cause
fire or electric shock.
Don’t pile this equipment up on top of on another when moving it. Try to store
each device in it’s own box when transporting it to prevent it from being deformed
or damaged.
Do not put the power cable near a heating apparatus. Doing so melts the coating
of the cable and can cause a fire or electric shock.
Always hold the power plug when
inserting or removing the power cable
into or from and outlet Pulling on the
cable can causes the wires to break.
This router contains a lithium battery
for the real-time clock. Mishandling this
battery may cause heat build-up,
damage, or in an extreme case,
explosion or fire. Do not remove the
battery from the router, attempt to
disassemble it, or expose it to
temperatures of over 100°C (212°F).
Do not step on the router or place heavy
objects on it weighing more than 5 kg
on the device. Doing so can damage it.
While the access indicator (ACCESS) for
a memory card is lit, the memory card is
being accessed. DO NOT pull out a
memory card or turn off the power
switch while the memory card is being
accessed. If so, you could permanently
damage the memory card. Some
commands require a long time to finish
accessing a memory card when they are

executed. Make sure that the access to a memory card is finished before pulling it
out or turning off the power switch.
Be careful with the laser outputs on optical network
interfaces. The board with the label below shows that a laser
is used in it. As the amount of its emission is small, there is
no risk of damaging your skin. Still, never look into the
output directly. There is nothing to see inside.
Wear a wrist strap to prevent static electricity. Without a wrist strap, the device
might be damaged due to static electricity.
Do not over tighten the attachment screws when connecting a cable to the router.
Over tightening the screws could cause them to break. Use only a small,
flat-blade screwdriver to tighten the screws so as not to exert excessive torque on
the screws.
Be careful how you handle the NIFs, cryptographic accelerators and basic control
modules (BCU). Do not touch the components attached to them or the soldered
area. Also, place NIFs in anti-static packages to protect them from physical
damage.
Make sure that you have either a NIF in, or dummy panel installed over, an
option slot. If not, air may not circulate correctly inside the router.
For the installation of a network interface board, use a screw driver when
fastening screws and make sure that the screws are fixed firmly, but do not
overtighten.
Take care so that the fan cables, etc. are not snagged or crushed inside the router
when replacing the cover.
Clean the device only with a clean, dry cloth or use a cloth that has been
dampened (not wet) with water or another pH-neutral liquid. Do not use volatile
organic solutions such as benzene or paint thinner, chemicals, chemically
treated cloths or pesticides, which may deform, discolor or damage the router.
Do not place the router in direct sunlight or
near heat sources that may cause damage.
If the router is placed together with a radio
or a TV, they might affect each other in an
unfavorable way. If you hear the burst of
noise on a TV or a radio, do the following:
Place the device as far away from a TV or a
radio as possible.
Turn the antenna of a TV or a radio to
another direction.
Do not use the same outlet as the router.
Unplug the power cable from the outlet when the router is not used for long
periods.
Dispose of exhausted devices or boards, including lithium batteries, as required
by local regulations.
For your safety, do not carelessly put your hands into the device. If you do, you
could get injured from touching internal components.
Leave the device powered off for more than 2 seconds before powering it on again.
Handle the device carefully, complying with the instructions written on the
“CAUTION” label on the device.
