Generally about
the sweeper
The sweeper SAHL-L is a further development of SAHL
adapted to front mounting on wheel loaders. The
attachment bracket of SAHL-L is DIN standard (see
picture) but can be equipped with adapter for other
brackets.
SAHL-L operates with two direct acting hydraulic motors
designed for an oil flow of 70-200 l/min.
The suspension of the Sweeper gives a con-stant and
evenly applied pressure against the ground. This gives
minimal brush wear and insensitiveness to unevenness,
grooves, kerb stones etc.
The Sweeper can be equipped with hydraulic and
mechanical angling + - 30°.
Extra equipment
• Water sprinkling system with ramp and pump.
• Electrically operated selector valve for hydraulic angling
during sweeping. The carrier needs only one hydraulic
function.
• Side shift, gives the possibility to move the sweeper
hydraulically + - 0,7m.
• Different types of brushes, conventional or
tufted, steel or polypropylene (plastic).
Do not make any modifications, changes, rebuilt work etc. which are
not approved by Holms Industri AB. We also ask you to pay attention
to spare parts not approved by us.

Operating instruction
Connecting to carrier
1. Connect the two hoses of the lifting cylinder to a double-acting
hydraulic function and move the transport loading device (see
picture 4) to its storage tube. The transport loading device shall
be used at all transport driving with the sweeper.
2. Lift up the attachment bracket and drive the car forward
towards the machine.
3. Checkthat the meassureA isca300-350mm. If not,the hooks,
pos B, and the screw union, pos C, must be moved to the right
height. Lift up the rear supports.
4. Set the correct tilt angle with the big nut in the screw joint C.
The right tilt angle is when the central bracket of the sweeper is
vertical. (Please check by a water level).
5. Connect the quick couplings of the driving hoses to a double
acting hydraulic output or to the hydraulic motor circuit on the
carrier.
6.Connecttheanglingcylinder quickcouplingstoadoubleacting
hydraulic outlet. In case the sweeper is equipped with el.
operated selector valve, connect the cable to the carrier. Electric
circuit, see page 25.
7. Start the sweeper by activating the the hydraulic motor circiut.
8. Check the sweeper rotation direction. If the sweeper rotates in
the opposite direction in closed position, shift closed position of
the lever or shift the quick coupling for the hydraulic motor
function.
Sweeper setting, height
1. Lift up the sweeper and put the parking supports in operating
position.
2. Start the sweeper by a dubbleacting hydraulic function or with
the hydraulic motor circuit.
3. Slowly lower the sweeper until the height indicator yellow
markers are in line.
Setting of ground pressure
The sweepers ground pressure can be adjusted for different
requirements. The adjustment is done by means of the rigging
screw.
Attention! Do not use the carrier lifting or tilting function for
ground pressure setting.

Always stop the broom completely before
making any adjustments.

Picture 9. Sweeper tilted backwards
Picture 10. Sweeper tilted forwards
Picture 11. Supports in parking position
1. Set the sweeper height and tilt.
2. Let the sweeper rotate a short while against the ground .
3. Measure the clean-swept stripe, it shall normally be ca
150mm.
Reduce the ground pressure by unscrewing the rigging
screw and raise the ground pressure by tightening the
rigging screw (picture 7).
Sweeping
By sweeping the setting normally shall be as described in
”settingthesweeper,heightandtilt”.The yellowmarkerson
the height- and tilting indicators shall be in line. In this
position the loader bracket is vertical to the ground. The
sweeper operates with even pressure over its whole width.
Attention! Do not use the carrier height and tilting function
for ground pressure adjustment.
By requirement of harder ground pressure on any side of
the sweeper or if the sweeper is unevenly worn the
adjustment can be made by changing the tilt setting.
By backwards tilting harder pressureis reached on the side
of the sweeper which is angled towards the loader.
Byforwardstiltingharder pressureisreached onthesideof
the sweeper which is angled from the loader.
Disconnecting from carrier
1. Loosen the attachment bracket faucets before the
sweeper is placed on the ground to avoid damage on the
suspension system.
2. Lower and secure the support in parking position.
Attention! The sweeper brushes can be deformed if the
supports are not used when sweeper is parked.
3. Put down the sweeper to the ground and continue until
the bracket loosen from the carrier.
4. Put the transport catch in transport position (picture 4).
5. Loosen the quick couplings and the cable.

Maintenance
After running:
- Wash the sweeper which increases the life-time and
makes it easier to detect eventual leakage or other defect.
- Grease the four roller bearings after every running.
- Inspect the sweeper concerning damages on hoses,
brush protectors, leaf spring or framework. Also check
eventual oil leakage.
Lubrication:
- When needed the rigging screws shall be greased
brushed or protected with corrosion protection solvent.
- The four roller bearings shall be greased after every
running. Use litium grease, or other with god quality
(picture. 12).
A couple of times a year, the bar tube bearing shall be
greased. Clean the nipple and fill in until the grease
pierces.

Change of brushes
Place the supports into driving posititon and lower the
sweeper until the frame rubber buffer comes into contact
with thespring. The sweeper now rests against the ground
with right ground pressure.
Dismounting of sweeper roll.
1. Fold up the front brush protector and lock it in the upper
position with the locking pin.
2. Loosen the hydraulic hose brackets on the bar tube.
3. Remove the four bolts from the gable side.
4. Take down the gable side from the two guide pins.
Attention! Avoid clamping.
5. Angle the sweeper roll from the bar tube and pull the roll
out from the carrier housing on the other gable side.

1. Loosen the screws and take away the sweeper roll end
ring.
2.Putshacklesinthe two holesforthe brushcoremounting
screws and put a lifting wire loop through the shackles.
3. Lift the sweeper roll in vertical position by using a
traverse crane or similar equipment.
4. Lift up the roll from the floor and pull down the brush
sections and the distance rings. Lower the sweeper roll.
5. Check the core free from damage.
6. Fasten one end ring with screws on the core.
7. Lift the sweeper core up with the end ring downwards.
8. Place one brush element with brush element pin into
one groove on the brush core.
9. Place one distance ring.
10. Place one brush element with the pin into the second
groove on the opposite side of the brush core and place
another end ring.
11. Place alternating brush element and distance rings. On
the end of the brush core two brush elements can be
placed.
Attention! Put the brush element pin alternating in the two
grooves in order to get a proper brush shape.
