How to remove the
chassis Refer to Figure 1 for reference and follow the procedure listed in Table 1.

1 Pull down the flap covering the front screw and loosen the screw.
2 Grasp the bezel and pull the chassis out of the case.

How to install the
PROM
Table 1 How to Install the PROM
Step Action
1 The PROM is located on the MCU/Input printed wiring board at
location U109. See Figure 2 for location.
If a Communications Board is not present:
2 Lay the chassis on its left side on a non conductive surface
3 Insert a small screwdriver under the PROM and lift up to remove.
4 Orient the PROM to the socket and press into place.
5 Return the chassis to the case and configure the controller to include
the new features.
If a Communications Board is present:
6 Go to Table 2.

How to remove the
Bezel/Keyboard/
Display assembly
In order to access the PROM if your controller has a Communications
Board, you must remove the Bezel/Keyboard/Display assembly from the
chassis and access the printed wiring boards.
The procedure in Table 2 lists the steps required to remove the
Bezel/Keyboard/Display assembly.
Table 2 How to Remove the Bezel/Keyboard/Display Assembly
Step Action
1 Remove the two screws on the bottom of the chassis frame that hold
the Bezel/Keyboard/Display assembly in place on the chassis frame.
Refer to Figure 2 for reference.
2 Lift the two retainers slightly away from the MCU/Input board notch
and the Power/DIO board on the opposite side as shown below.
The Bezel/Keyboard/Display board assembly will come away in one
piece.

3 Install the PROM supplied in this kit.
See Table 3.
4 Reinstall the Bezel/Keyboard/Display assembly.
CAUTION Be careful to align the pins on the display board with
the mating connector P9 on the MCU/Input board.
5 Reattach the bezel assembly to the chassis with the screws
previously removed.

How to install the
PROM Follow the procedure in Table 3 to access the PROM.
Table 3 Access the PROM
Step Action
1 Remove the four screws (two on each side) that hold the two main
printed wiring boards onto the chassis (See Figure 2 for location)
2 Use pliers to squeeze the ends of the spacer and push it through
the Power/ Digital I/O PWB. (See Figure 2 for location of spacer)
3 Gently pull the MCU/Inputs and the Power/DIO boards apart out of
the top and bottom interconnectors and lay the boards flat on a
non-conductive surface. (See figure 3).
4 Identify the Communications Option board (If present) and remove
the two screws that hold it onto the MCU/Inputs PWB.
5 Figure 3 identifies the location of the PROM.
6 Insert a small screwdriver under the PROM and lift up to remove.
7 Orient the PROM to the socket and press into place.
8 Reassemble the Communications Option PWB to the MCU/Inputs
PWB.
9 Reassemble the interconnects to the MCU/Inputs board and
reassemble the boards reversing the procedure above.
10 Reattach the Bezel/Keyboard/Display board assembly as listed in
Table 2 - steps 4 and 5.
11 Return the chassis to the case and configure the controller to
include the new features.
