Introduction
The HD3U/X CCTV Camera is ideal for indoor installations in commercial
venues.
Before You Begin
Please carefully read this guide before you install the HD3U/X CCTV
Camera.
Keep this guide for future reference.
Unpack Everything
Check that the items received match those listed on the order form and
packing slip. The HD3U/X packing box should include, in addition to this
User Guide:

If any parts are missing or damaged, contact the dealer from which you
purchased the camera or call Honeywell Customer Service (see
Warranty and Service).

Installation
The compact design of the HD3U Series 3-Inch Dome Camera is ideal for
indoor installations. It is specifically designed to capture highlight and
shadow details simultaneously, regardless of lighting conditions.
Opening the Camera
Before you can mount or adjust your camera, you must remove the dome
cover. Insert a coin or screwdriver in the slot on the dome cover, then twist to
pry the dome cover from the camera base.

Mounting the Camera
Your camera is designed to be surface mounted on a wall or ceiling.
1. Attach the mounting template to the
wall or ceiling.
2. Drill four holes according to the
mounting template, then insert
anchors (not supplied) into the
drilled holes.
3. Pull power and video cables to the
connectors. See “Connecting to
Video Monitor and Power”.
4. Use the four screws (supplied) to
attach the camera to the wall or
ceiling.
Note Leave the dome cover off until
you have adjusted the camera.

Follow Figure 1 to connect to power and to a video monitor.

Adjusting the Camera
To adjust the your camera:
1. Apply 12 VDC or 24 VAC power to the camera and monitor the video
signal.
2. Loosen the screws that lock the gimbal assembly in place (see
Figure 2).
3. Adjust the camera gimbal to the desired view.
4. Tighten the screws to lock the gimbal assembly in place.
Note Orient the camera as shown in Figure 2 to maintain
the correct picture orientation.

Adjusting the Lens Focus
Lenses are pre-focused at the factory. In the unlikely event that the
optical effect of the dome cover might cause a slight de-focusing of the
lens, hold the dome cover over the lens to make a final adjustment.

Configuring the WDR Presets
Select the appropriate camera mode for the lighting conditions.
The table below explains the Preset options on the Wide Dynamic Range
(WDR) PRESETS menu. Double-click a Preset to display a read-only
screen showing the factory settings. INDOOR is the default.

<CUSTOM> Opens the CUSTOM screen where you can adjust the
limit of the wide dynamic range by moving the cursor.
Note Watch the changes on the video monitor while
customizing your settings.
>WDR LIMIT Adjust the dynamic range to change the camera’s light
optimization. Reduce the level to lower the dynamic
range. Adjust the slider from 0to 36 (default is 20).
<AES> The AES (Automatic Electronic Shutter) feature
compensates for excessive light levels by automatically
adjusting the shutter speed of the camera. Select from:
HIGHLIGHTS for optimum exposure of bright areas of
the scene.
SHADOWS for optimum exposure of dark areas of the
scene.
FLUORESCENT Compensates for fluorescent lighting. Select either:
<ON> A note appears recommending the use of Line
Lock (see page 21.)

Optimizing the Camera Setup
Note This menu is for advanced users only.
The table below explains the options on the CAMERA SETUP menu.
Each selection on this menu takes you to a separate screen (see
description below).
