Now the HP NetRAID-3Si controller carries these strengths forward with
added performance and new technology to serve more clients faster.
Taking Performance to a Higher Level
Building onthe success of the original HP NetRAID product it replaces, the
HP NetRAID-3Si boosts performance with a new hardware design. The
processor has been upgraded to a 66MHz Intel®i960RD®and a new ASIC
accelerates RAID parity calculations. The result is a significant performance
increase under heavy client loads when higher performance matters most.
Leading the Way withI2O and Ultra2 SCSI
The HP NetRAID-3Si is the important first step in deploying I2O (Intelligent
Input/Output) technology across HP NetServer systems. I2O offers the
potential to increase overall system performance by changing the design of
device drivers. The I2O split driver architecture allows computing overhead
associated with I/O service requests to be shifted from the system CPU to
dedicated I/O processors, such as the one on the HP NetRAID-3Si. Both I2O
and non-I2O drivers are supported with the HP NetRAID-3Si controller.
Ultra2 (LVD) SCSI has been incorporated into the HP NetRAID-3Si for
greater speed and flexibility. Low-voltage differential (LVD) technology is the
latest step in the evolution of the small computer system interface (SCSI). It
doubles the maximum bus transfer rate to 80MB/sec while extending bus
length up to 12 meters. The HP NetRAID-3Si also supports hard drives and
enclosures that use Fast/Wide and Ultra/Wide single-ended SCSI.
Flexible, Dependable Results
Sharing common features with the HP NetRAID family, the HP NetRAID-3Si
can easily be deployed across a range of servers. An intuitive, graphical user
interface with a wizard feature simplifies set up and allows you to monitor and
manage physical and logical drives, add capacity, and migrate RAID levels on
the fly. You can also manage the HP NetRAID-3Si from a remote console.
And of course, the HP NetRAID-3Si is backed up by HP’s legendary service
and support.
