Die Grinder
Hire Shops
For quickly and accurately removing
burrs from pipework and other metal
fittings.
Operating & Safety Guide 637
Familiarise yourself with the switches and their
location so that you can operate them quickly in
an emergency.
All that remains is to plug the Die Grinder into its
power supply and switch the supply ON.
Always position yourself so you can control the Die
Grinder while staying clear of the Grinding head.
Take extra care when you first use the grinder, as
the head will try to wander off line upon first contact
with the workpiece.
DO NOT move the grinder quickly in different
directions as the gyroscopic forces could cause you to
loose control of it and damage the workpiece, or cause
you personal injury.
Switch the unit ON and wait for the head to reach
operating. Now you can begin grinding.
Allow the head to work at its own speed, harder
materials will take longer to remove.
Keep the head moving, if you stay too long at one
place, the work will over heat.
Take your time and don’t over do it. You are more
likely to have an accident if you are tired or rushing.
Never push the equipment beyond its design
limits. If it will not do what you want with reasonable
ease and speed, assume you have the wrong tool for the
job. Contact your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Keep the equipment clean, you will find this less of a
chore if you clean it regularly, rather than wait until the
end of the hire period.
Use only die grinding heads supplied by HSS.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere
clean, dry and safe from thieves.
Switch the unit OFF and wait for moving parts to
stop. Then unplug the equipment.
Clean off any powder deposits, paying special
attention to motor ventilation slots.
Then neatly coil the flex and give the tool a final
clean up ready for return, to your local HSS Hire Shop.

in position by turning the chuck lock bolt clockwise.
Remember to remove the pin and spanner
before proceeding.
