Sideloading Quick Start Guide
Getting started
This Quick Start Guide outlines the steps to transfer music from your PC to your phone
using two methods:
•Drag & Drop (via phone or card reader)
•Windows Media Player (WMP)
What you’ll need
•USB cable
•Playback file format on your phone must be unprotected Advanced Audio Coding
(AAC), MP3 or Windows Media Audio (WMA) files
•SD card inserted in your phone (or card reader)
•For Drag & Drop
oFolder browser on your computer, i.e., Windows Explorer
•For WMP Sync
oWindows XP or Vista
oWindows Media Player version 10 or higher
Before you begin
•When you insert the SD card into your phone, it automatically creates a MUSIC
folder.
•WMP does not support playback or transfer for AAC format music, such as iTunes.
•Playlists are not automatically transferred.
•For Windows XP, the USB mass storage device drivers are automatically installed
the first time you connect.
•Music purchased from Sprint Music Store on your phone (.koz files) cannot be
played on your PC.
•You can also access device modes by choosing Home, Tools, “0 Transfer Music” or “8
Mass Storage.”
•While in transfer or storage mode, you will not be able to make or receive calls.
Drag & Drop
Connect
•Connect your phone to the PC or connect a card reader to the PC.
•The screen will display three options:
oTransfer music
oMass storage
oModem
•Select Transfer Music or Mass Storage.

Transfer
•Locate the music folder or music file on your PC that contains the music you’d like
to transfer.
•Select the music folder or individual files and choose File ÆCopy.
•Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the Removable Disk drive letter which
corresponds to the connected phone or SD card reader.
•Navigate to the MUSIC folder and choose File ÆPaste.
You can also simply drag and drop from the source folder on the PC to the MUSIC
folder on the Removable Disk drive.
Disconnect
•Select exit on the phone menu to exit the Transfer Music or Mass Storage mode.
•Select Yes to disconnect.
Windows Media Player Sync*
Connect
•Open Windows Media Player (WMP).
•Connect your phone to the PC via USB cable.
•The screen will display three options:
oTransfer music
oMass storage
oModem
•Select Transfer Music or Mass Storage.
Setup**
•Device setup window will appear.
•Name the device.
•Select Finish.
•The device will show as connected.
•Select Sync from the menu options.
•Select the name of your phone.
•Select advanced options.
•Under sync settings, ensure create folder hierarchy on device checkbox is
selected.
•Select ok.
*Setup only needs to be completed once.

•Windows XP
•Windows Media Player 11

Transfer
•Drag files from the left content pane to the transfer pane on the right.
•In the transfer pane, select start sync to begin transfer.
Disconnect
•Select exit from the phone menu options.
•select yes.
