Here’s all you need to get started:
• HTC S620
• Mains charger
• Standard or extended life
battery and battery cover
• BT Broadband Anywhere SIM card
• BT Yahoo! Mail address and password (you should
have already received this by email or letter)
• If you have ordered more than one
BT ToGo we recommend that the
primary account holder sets up rst
• Your Hub’s Wireless key and name (SSID), both
are on the grey label on the back of the Hub.
• You should also read the safety and
disposal instructions in the HTC S620 user
manual which is available online*.
Are you moving your mobile number
from a different mobile operator?
If you are keeping the same mobile number, please
make sure you copy your phonebook contacts
from your old SIM card onto your phone before
you port your number, otherwise you will lose all
your existing contacts when you swap SIM cards.
See page 49 for full instructions.
1 Set up your BT Home Hub
If you are new to BT Broadband, make sure
your BT Broadband is activated and your
BT Home Hub is working. Full instructions
are included with your BT Home Hub.
2 Insert SIM and
charge your phone
Insert SIM

*To reduce the amount of paper and transport we have stored this online as a pdf at www.bt.com/help/broadbandanywhere. It also tells
you how to use the phone’s standard features (camera, setting up contacts etc) and describes advanced features and options.

Connect the mains charger
Use for recharging
the battery.
Warning - Make sure you charge your new battery
for at least 12 hours (14 hours for the extended life
battery). This will make sure your battery holds its
charge for longer, so you won’t need to charge it up
so frequently in the future. Don’t worry the battery
can’t be overcharged.
Whilst the phone is charging, take the chance to get
to know your phone by reading pages 18 to 24.
Important
Now remove the charger for the rest of the
set up and do not use the USB cable to connect
to your PC, as having this inserted may affect the
set up process.

2 Connect to Wi-Fi
when out and about
IMPORTANT: you are now part of BT FON,
the UK’s largest Wi-Fi community (including
BT Openzone hotspots). See page 17 for
further details or visit www.bt.com/btfon
Connect to BT FON and BT Openzone
Your phone has been set up to work at BT FON
and BT Openzone hotspots without the need to
enter usernames or passwords. There are tens of
thousands of BT FON and BT Openzone hotspots
throughout the UK. To nd your nearest BT FON
hotspot visit www.bt.com/btfon. Look out for
the BT Openzone sign at cafes, airports, hotels,
railway stations and motorway service stations.
See www.btopenzone.com/nd for locations.
When in a BT FON or BT Openzone
hotspot do the following:
1. Select the Wi-Fi icon and click on Turn Wi-Fi On.
2. Check ‘BT Openzone’ appears above the clock
– if it does not, select Select Wi-Fi network
and choose ‘BT Openzone’ from the list.
3. A tick will appear next to the Openzone
icon and you can now browse the
web and send emails over Wi-Fi.
4. To logout, select BT Openzone icon again
and ensure a cross appears.
Alternatively switch off Wi-Fi.
How to connect to other Wi-Fi
networks not provided by BT
Either select the network/hub you require from
the list of networks displayed, or connect using the
web browser. You may need the owner’s permission
and the Wireless key. Other public Wi-Fi operators
may require you to purchase vouchers or pay in
other ways to connect – check with the operator
for details.
IMPORTANT
Wi-Fi connection requires more battery
power than mobile (GSM) connection.
If you know you will not need Wi-Fi for an
extended period (eg a car journey) then turn
Wi-Fi off. Bluetooth should also be turned off
when not needed.
See the HTC manual at www.bt.com/help/
broadbandanywhere for further battery tips.

3 Using BT Broadband Talk
BT Broadband Talk is BT’s great value internet
calling service. Now you can make
BT Broadband Talk calls using your
BT ToGo.
Benets include:
– inclusive UK2 Evening & Weekend calls.
– low international calling rates.
– make calls over the internet at home when
connected to your BT Home Hub or when out
and about at BT FON and BT Openzone hotspots.
Make a BT Broadband Talk call
Make sure you are in range of your BT Home
Hub or BT FON/BT Openzone hotspot.
1. Select the Wi-Fi icon ,
and click on Turn Wi-Fi On.
2. Check that your BT Home Hub name or ‘BT
Openzone’ appears above the clock – if it does not,
select Select Wi-Fi network and choose your BT
Home Hub name or ‘BT Openzone’ from the list.
3. BT Broadband Talk will now show as Available.
4. The internet calling icon will also appear.
5. To use BT Broadband Talk, click on
the BT Broadband Talk icon and
it will change to Selected.
6. Dial the number you require and press .
7. To stop using BT Broadband Talk, click
the BT Broadband Talk icon again. It
will change from Selected to Available.
Or switch off Wi-Fi altogether.
IMPORTANT – Making sure you are using
the right network to make a call.
You must be connected to a Wi-Fi network,
with BT Broadband Talk at ‘Selected’, to take
advantage of the BT Broadband Talk calling rates.
When using BT Broadband Talk, the internet
calling icon will appear at the top of the
screen and the BT Broadband Talk icon will
show as Selected (and not ‘Available’). If BT
Broadband Talk is not Selected when making
the call, standard mobile charges will apply.
When a dialled number is connecting, the green
dialling screen will display the dialled number and,
above it, the network the call is carried over.
If it says ‘BT’ it means the call is going over the
UK mobile network and you will be using minutes
from your inclusive UK bundle. If the network is
Wi-Fi it will say ‘BT Broadband Talk’ and a more
metallic/higher pitched connection tone will sound.
If you are outside the UK and the name of the
local mobile operator appears above the dialled
number, it means the call will be charged at
mobile roaming rates which will be charged
separately at a potentially high cost per
minute. See page 31 for further information
on using your BT ToGo outside the UK.

Congratulations - you are now part of BT FON:
the UK’s largest Wi-Fi community.
With BT FON, you share your home Wi-Fi with
