Symbol Conventions
The symbols that may be found in this document are defined as follows.
Symbol Description
Indicates a hazard with a high level of risk that, if not

Keyboard Operation
Format Description
Key Press the key. For example, press Enter and press

Safety Precautions
General Requirements:
zBefore you install and use the device, read these safety precautions carefully and
observe them during operation.
zKeep the device dry during storage, transportation, and operation of the device.
zPrevent collision of the device during storage, transportation, and operation of the
device.
zDo not attempt to dismantle the device by yourself. In case of any fault, contact the
appointed maintenance center for assistance or repair.
zWithout prior writtenconsent, noorganization or individual is permitted to make any
change to the structure or safety and performance design of the device.
zWhile using the device, observe all applicable laws, directives and regulations, and
respect the legal rights of other people.
Environmental Requirements:
zPlace the device in a well-ventilated place. Do not expose the device to direct
sunlight.
zKeep the device clean, free of dust and stain.
zDo not place the device near a water source or in a damp area.
zDo not place any object on the top of the device.
zDo not place the device on or near inflammable materials such as foam.
zKeep the device away from heat source or fire, such as an electric heater or a candle.
zKeep the device far away from any household appliance with strong magnetic field
or electromagnetic field, such as a microwave oven, a refrigerator or a satellite dish
antennas.
Operating Requirements:
zDo not allow children to play with the device or accessories. Swallowing the
accessories may be fatal.
zUse the accessories provided or authorized only by the manufacturer.
zMake sure that the device does not get wet. If water gets into the device, switch off
the power supply immediately, and contact the appointed maintenance center.
zThe power supply of the device must meet the requirements of the input voltage of
the device.

zBefore plugging or unplugging any cable, shut down the device and disconnect the
power supply.
zWhile plugging or unplugging any cable, make sure that your hands are dry.
zDo not step on, pull, or bend any cable. Otherwise, the cable may be damaged,
leading to malfunction of the device.
zDo not use old or damaged cables.
zIn any of the following cases, stop using the device, disconnect it from the power
supply and unplug the power plug immediately: there is smoke emitted from the
device, or there is some abnormal noise or smell. Contact the specified maintenance
center for repair.
zDo not scratch or abrade the shell of the device. This may lead to malfunctions of the
device, such as short circuit. The shed painting material may also lead to skin
allergy.
zDo not use the device during lightning, and unplug it from the computer, to prevent
damage to the device and the computer.
zIf the device is not used for a long time, unplug the device from the computer.
Cleaning Requirements:
zBefore cleaning the device, stop using it and unplug it from the computer.
zDo not clean the device shell with any cleaning solution or cleanser spray. Use a
piece of soft cloth to clean the device shell.
Usage Requirements of Wireless Product
zKeep the device away from magnetic storage devices (e.g., a magnetic card or a
floppy disk), to prevent loss of the stored information.
zUnplug the device from the computer and turn off the computer in situations where a
wireless device is prohibited or using of a wireless device will lead to interference or
danger.
zUnplug the device from the computer and turn off the computer kept close to an
electronic high-precision controlled device, such as an audiphone, a pacemaker, fire
alarm or an automatic gate. Otherwise, this will lead to malfunction of the electronic
device.
zThe user who uses an electronic assistant medical-treatment device needs to confirm
with the service center regarding the effects of the radio wave on this device.
zDo not take the device to the operation theater, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or the
Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
zWhen you are driving a car or traveling by plane, unplug the device from the
computer and turn off the computer, to avoid interference arising from radio signal
of the device.
zWhen using the device maintain distance of 3 cm between your body and the antenna
of the device.

zIn the area with inflammable or explosive materials, turn off your wireless device,
and follow the relevant instructions given in the label, to prevent explosion or fire.
zProtect the wireless device and its accessories, and use it in a clean and dust-free
environment. Make sure that the wireless device does not come in contact with flame
or a cigarette that is lit.
zMake sure that the wireless device and its accessories are dry.
zDo not drop, throw or try to bend your wireless device.
zDo not place the wireless device and its accessories in high or low temperature areas.
zThis device uses radio signal for transmission. The network connection may not be
available in all the situations. In an emergency, you should not rely solely on this
wireless device for essential communications.

1.1 Functions and Features
EchoLife BM325 WiMAX USB data card (hereinafter referred to as the BM325) is
applicable to the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) network.
In areas covered by the network, you can enjoy the high-performance broadband
network services anywhere and anytime. You can wirelessly surf the Internet with brand
new experiences.
High Speed
zSupporting the IEEE802.16e-2005 WiMAX air interface.
zSupporting a 2.5 GHz WiMAX network.
zSupporting downlink transmission rate of up to 10 Mbit/s and uplink transmission
rate of up to 3 Mbit/s.

zProviding user-friendly user interface.
zSupporting upgrading of the BWA Partner and device driver.
zSupporting plug and play.
zProviding fashionable and elegant appearance.

Indicator Status Description
On The BM325 is powered on.
Blinks once per
second The BM325 accesses the network normally. No data, however,
is being transmitted.
Blinks Data is being transmitted. The larger the amount of data is, the
higher the blinking frequency is.
Off The BM325 is powered off.
1.3 Connecting the External Antenna
Do not place the external antenna outdoors.
If you need to connect the external antenna to your BM325, do as follows:
Step 1 Power off the BM325.
Step 2 Pull out the plastic plug on the side of the BM325 and connect the external antenna to the
BM325.
Step 3 Put the external antenna in an open space without any surrounding obstacles, so that the
network signals are not affected.

1.4 Requirements on PC Configuration
Your PC must meet the following configuration requirements for using the BM325. If
the configuration of your PC cannot meet the requirements, the operating performance of
the BM325 may be degraded.

2.1 Connecting the BM325
zEnsure that the PC is powered on when you connect the BM325 to the PC. Otherwise,
the BM325 cannot be used normally.
zUse the USB cable provided with the product.

To connect the BM325 to the PC, do as follows:
Step 1 Power on the PC.
Step 2 Use a USB cable to connect the BM325 to the PC. See Figure 2-1 for the connection
details.
If the BM325 is used for the first time, the system prompts you to install the BWAPartner.
For details, see section 2.3 "Installing the BWAPartner." After the BM325 is connected
to the PC, if the BM325 accesses the network normally, it displays on the system
tray, indicating that network connection is established. If the BM325 cannot access the
network normally, it displays on the system tray, indicating that network
connection is not established.

2.2 Removing the BM325
Do as follows to remove the BM325 from the PC. Otherwise, the operating system of
your PC may be damaged even in standby mode.

zIf is not displayed on the system tray, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Quit the BWA Partner.
Step 2 Disconnect the BM325 or the connector of the USB cable from the PC.

zIf is displayed on the system tray, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Double-click on the system tray. The system prompts "Safely remove hardware."
Step 2 Stop running the corresponding hardware of the BM325 on the device manager.
Step 3 Disconnect the BM325 or the connector of the USB cable from the PC after the system
prompts that you can remove the hardware safely.

2.3 Installing the BWA Partner
The BWAPartner is the program used to configure the BM325 parameters. To install the
BWA Partner, do as follows:
Step 1 Power on the PC.
Step 2 Use a USB cable to connect the BM325 to the PC.
Step 3 The system prompts that new hardware is found and prompts you to install the BWA
Partner.
Step 4 Install the BWA Partner according to the prompts.
Step 5 When you finish installing the BWA Partner, it displays
on the system tray.

After you install the BWA Partner, you need to set up the network connection manually.
For details, see section 4.3 "Connecting and Disconnecting Network."
2.4 Uninstalling the BWA Partner
You can uninstall the BWA Partner by two methods:
From the Program
Step 1 Quit the BWA Partner.
Step 2 Choose Start > All programs.
Step 3 Find the BWA Partner, such as BWA Partner.
Step 4 Select Uninstall.
Step 5 Uninstall the BWA Partner according to the prompts.

From the Control Panel
Step 1 Quit the BWA Partner.
Step 2 Choose Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Step 3 Click Change/Remove Programs.
Step 4 Find the BWA Partner, such as BWA Partner.
Step 5 Click Change/Remove.
Step 6 Uninstall the BWA Partner according to the prompts.

After the BWA Partner is uninstalled, restart the PC to ensure complete removing of the BWA
Partner from the PC.
2.5 Configuring PPP Dial-Up
If you use the BM325 to access the Internet through PPP dial-up, you need to install the
PPP dial-up software after installing the BWA Partner.
You can configure the PPP dial-up software of the Windows operating system in the
following steps:
Step 1 Choose Start > Control Panel > Network Connection.
Step 2 In the Network Tasks field on the left pane, click Create anew connection.
Step 3 Click Next on the displayed New Connection Wizard dialog box.
Step 4 Select Connect to the Internet and click Next.
Step 5 Select Set up my connection manually and click Next.
Step 6 Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and
password and click Next.
Step 7 Enter the name of the Internet service provider (ISP) as the name of the new connection.
Step 8 Select Anyone's use or My use only and click Next.
Step 9 Enter the user name and password provided by the ISP. Confirm the password and click
Next.
Step 10 Click Finish.

After you use the PPP dial-up software to dial, run the BWA Partner and connect to the
Internet manually. For details, see section 4.3 "Connecting and Disconnecting Network."

2.6 Introduction to the Icons
Icon Function
Querying information such as the software and hardware version
numbers of the BM325, restarting the BM325, restoring the carrier
settings, and restoring factory settings.
Querying the uplink rate and downlink rate of the network, details
about the IP address, and information about the received and sent
WiMAX and Ethernet packets.
Encrypting the network, setting the authentication parameters,
loading and exporting configuration files, setting the frequency
points, and setting the certificates.
Upgrading the BM325 locally or remotely, and upgrading the BWA
Partner.
Viewing all types of logs collected when the BM325 is running.
Indicating the network signal strength.
Disconnected from or connected to the network.
