OPERATOR MANUAL HCS-5 020310 5.7.x 03
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Interceptors
The interceptor creates pressure on the hull bottom plate directly
ahead of the transom using a blade. With only a few millimeters,
the transom edge raises and results in a high hydrodynamic lift. The
interceptor provides forces to optimize running trim and actively
dampen vessel motions.
Fins
As the vessel speeds through the water, the water moves along the n body. If the n is given an angle of attack, the
n creates a lifting force acting on the vessel to reduce vessel motions.
To reduce roll motion when the vessel is stationary or moving at speeds below 4 knots, the ns do a strong paddle
to counteract each wave induced roll motion which result in reduced roll motions onboard the vessel.

HUMPHREE FUNCTIONS OVERVIEW
AUTOMATIC TRIM
Automatic Trim Control (AUTO TRIM) adds automatic adjustment of the
vessel trim to provide optimum running trim for the highest speed and lowest
fuel consumption. The trim and list can be manually adjusted by deploying or
retracting the interceptors and/or the ns.
AUTOMATIC LIST
When running in a straight course, Automatic List Control (AUTO LIST)
corrects the boat list to a set list angle, usually zero degrees. When the vessel
enters a turn, the system allows the vessel to heel naturally during the turn and
then continue to correct the vessel to the set list angle.
COORDINATED TURN
Coordinated Turn automatically adjusts the heeling angle of the vessel during turns to reduce the side forces for
everyone on board. The system continuously monitors the rudder position during the turn and the interceptor
blade movement is coordinated with the rudder movement. With a controlled heel angle, higher turning speeds
and better comfort can be achieved.
STABILIZATION
Boats are constantly exposed to waves that cause roll and pitch motions
resulting in reduced comfort on board. With Stabilization, the interceptors and/or
stabilizing ns are instantly actuated to provide lift which counteracts the vessel
motions and at the same time optimizes the running trim and list angle.
ZERO SPEED STABILIZATION
Zero Speed Stabilization reduces roll motion when the vessel is not moving. The
function can be used when the boat is at anchor or unanchored. Zero Speed can
be activated when the vessel speed is below 4 knots.
FISH HUNTING MODE
Fish Hunting Mode suits sport shing boats and makes the vessel easy to steer
with a sh on the hook. When the Fish Hunting Mode is activated, the ns
gradually deactivate and rotate freely.
VESSEL MOTION MONITORING
Vessel Motion Monitoring (VMM) is used to monitor impacts and motion
sickness when the vessel is moving. The sensors in the RCU measures
3D-accelerations and presents live data on the display. On the VMM screen,
there is a yellow and a red warning level for the acceleration impacts.
INTERCEPTOR STEERING
Interceptor steering enhances the water jet steering by deploying the
interceptors and keeping the water jet thrust undeected for small steering
commands. For larger steering commands, a combination of interceptors and
water jet deection results in an increased steering force and reduced turning
radius. The steering interceptor position bar is seen in the main screen when
installed.

Automatic List Control
Automatic List Control (AUTO LIST) automatically adjusts the vessel’s list angle to compensate for cross winds or
asymmetric load conditions.
TURN ON AUTO LIST
1. Press the AUTO LIST function key at the main screen.
AUTO LIST will then be replaced by SET LIST on the main screen. SET LIST
is the desired heel angle of the vessel. SET LIST is normally 0.0° for running
at even keel.
INTERCEPTORS
●AUTO LIST is automatically activated when the speed exceeds 9 knots.
●AUTO LIST is automatically deactivated when the speed drops below 7.5
knots. The interceptors returns to neutral position.
FINS.
●AUTO LIST is automatically activated when the speed exceeds 14 knots.
●AUTO LIST is automatically deactivated when the speed drops below 12.5
knots.
2. Use the LIST keys to manually set the desired SET LIST from port 4° to starboard 4°.
If the speed drops below 4 knots, the SET LIST automatically switches back to 0.0°. After a turn, SET LIST will
also switch back to 0.0° to make sure that the vessel runs even keel.
SENSITIVITY
The SENSITIVITY can be increased for faster list control if the compensation is considered slow when the boat
enters a new load condition or wind angle. The range of Automatic List Sensitivity is from -20 to 10.
1. Navigate to MENU/AUTOMATIC LIST CONTROL.
2. Set the SENSITIVITY using the PLUS/MINUS function keys.
Default value is -5.
NOTE!
If the speed GPS signal is lost, AUTO LIST will automatically be switched off. The LIST offset will slowly adjust to 0.
TIPS & TRICKS
●It is recommended to keep AUTO LIST turned ON.
●To reduce slamming in quartering head sea, use SET LIST to make the bow cut the waves.
●Default setting is -5 and works for most vessels.A bigger vessel (over 80 ft) with a slower rolling period can
generally use a higher sensitivity for faster AUTO LIST operation.
●If the auto-pilot is not working correctly, try decreasing the SENSITIVITY until the auto-pilot seems to work
again. If it doesn’t help to decrease the SENSITIVITY, the auto-pilot must be
re-calibrated with AUTO LIST turned ON.
●Some vessels can start to roll back and forth in calm water if the sensitivity is
set too high. Lower the sensitivity for a slower operation.
The system gives a warning when the sensitivity exceeds 5.
