1.1 Warnings and Important Notices
Three types of warning or notication signs are used in this manual. The signs are
listed as follows in order of severity:

1.2 Interceptor Safety Precautions
When installing the interceptors, make sure that there is no electrical current
connected to them.
Isolate shore electrical current to the engine block, battery charger, or
accessories mounted on the engine.
Sharp edges, watch your ngers.

2.1 Intended Product Usage
2. ABOUT THIS MANUAL
LIGHTNING by Humphree is a stabilization system designed for motorboats with
the following specications:
• Length of 20-45 feet
• Speed of 10-50 knots
The system must not be used for purposes other than the intended usage.
The purpose of this manual is to give instructions on how to correctly install the
hardware components of the LIGHTNING by Humphree system.
This installation manual is available digitally as a PDF le, and can be downloaded
in the following ways:
• Scan the QR code that is displayed on the product packaging and attached
documentation.

2.2 Intended Audience
This manual is aimed at the installer of the LIGHTNING by Humphree system,
including ship-builders, and other authorized workshops with qualied personnel.

4.1 STANDARD INTERCEPTOR MODELS (L300, L450)
RECOMMENDED
The interceptor will work correctly.
ACCEPTABLE
The interceptor will work with reduced lifting force.
NOT ACCEPTABLE
The interceptor is in the way, hindering a clear water ow for the propeller.

Mount the interceptor so that it does not disturb the water ow of the propeller.

Example 1: Do not use a chine interceptor model on a hull with no chine.
Example 2: Do not mount the interceptor in the way of the water ow of the
propeller.

For angled transoms, do not place the interceptor level with the hull bottom.
Incorrect interceptor placements does the following:
• Aects vessel movement even when the blade is retracted.
• Causes unnecessary wear on the interceptor.

If the transom angle is known, place the interceptor according to the following
table:

IMPORTANT!
When the interceptors are mounted above the hull transom an
interceptor blade oset calibration is mandatory. Failure to calibrate
the interceptor blade oset might induce unwanted boat roll when
using automatic control functions!

Manual!

4.4.4 INTERCEPTOR PLACEMENT WHEN THE TRANSOM ANGLE IS NOT KNOWN
If the transom angle is not known, do the following:

PLACE TWO WOODEN BOARDS under the hull, where the interceptor will be
mounted.
2PLACE THE INTERCEPTOR AGAINST THE TRANSOM and move it down until
the front touches the boards.

4.5 INTERCEPTOR BLADE ADJUSTMENT (CHINE ONLY)
Chine models require a chine add-on to the interceptor bracket.
• Attach the chine add-on to the interceptor bracket before mounting the
bracket on the transom.
• Mount the interceptor bracket add-on according to the following guidelines:
